This is being posted on your Talk page where you can receive messages from other Wikipedians and discuss issues and respond to questions. At the end of each message you will see a signature left by the editor posting. This is done by signing with four ~~~~ or by pressing or in the editing interface tool box, located just above the editing window (when editing). Do not sign edits that you make in the articles themselves as those messages will be deleted, but only when using the article talkpage, yours or another editor's talkpage. Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Crowbar (wrestler) may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Hello, I'm ReferenceBot. I have automatically detected that an edit performed by you may have introduced errors in referencing. It is as follows:

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, ReferenceBot (talk) 00:25, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Luck Be a Lady, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Matlock. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Information icon Hello, I'm John from Idegon. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Kissimmee, Florida, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Hi! Since you're a regular contributor to music articles, would you be interested in commenting or reviewing my FAC for the article xx (album)? It's received one editor's comments but not much follow-up yet, so anything would be appreciated. Dan56 (talk) 03:53, 21 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

WP:NOTBROKEN

[edit]

Hi JIK1975. According to WP:NOTBROKEN and MOS:NOPIPE, there's nothing wrong with linking to "FOX Chicago" and there's no need to add a pipe to "WFLD". Linking to redirects is considered acceptable and such links do not need to be "fixed" except in certain cases. - Marchjuly (talk) 02:07, 19 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Above also applies to other redirects to WFLD such as WFLD-TV - Marchjuly (talk) 02:12, 19 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again JIK1975. I am not sure if you're using a script or just doing it all manually, but you keep adding pipes to redirects which do not need to be piped and actually should not be piped according to WP:NOPIPE and WP:NOTBROKEN. [[Life on Mars?]] is a redirect to [[Life on Mars (song)]]; It is not broken and does should not be piped just to avoid linking to the redirect page. Same goes for [[Raven (band)]] for [[Raven (British band)]] and many of the other pipes you are adding. Linking to redirects are useful for the reasons laid out in "Reasons not to bypass redirects include:" in "WP:NOTBROKEN" and none of the pipes you've been adding seem to fall under the "Good reasons to bypass redirects include:" also listed in "WP:NOTBROKEN". If there some specific problems you're trying to correct by piping these redirects, then you should at least try and explain it in your edit sums so that others can understand what you're doing and why the change was needed. Otherwise, it's not really not something that needs to be done. - Marchjuly (talk) 01:53, 22 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The same applies to your recent spade of edits changing Ragnarok to Ragnarök; these edits are entirely unnecessary. Please read the guidelines mentioned above. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 14:30, 28 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
PS: And please, use edit summaries as suggested below. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 14:31, 28 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You've been asked nicely to not "fix" redirects like you did here. Again, read over WP:NOTBROKEN and follow what it says by not "fixing" redirects. Dismas|(talk) 03:52, 1 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi there! Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! Magnolia677 (talk) 00:44, 22 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Howard Stern. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been reverted or removed.

  • If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor then please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
  • If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive, until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively could result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you.

You have been asked politely before by myself and others such Michael Bednarek and Dismas to stop "fixing" links that do not need to be fixed. You have also been asked before by Magnolia677 et al. to leave edit sums explaining why you are making your edits. Your intentions may be good, but all you are doing is creating extra clean up for other editors. If you keep this up, it is likely that another editor is going to bring you up at WP:ANI for disruptive editing. If you are using a bot to make these edits, then I suggest you check the settings. If you are making them manually, I suggest you carefully read through WP:NOTBROKEN, WP:SPECIFICLINK and MOS:LINKS#Section links and only fix those links that really need fixing. - Marchjuly (talk) 02:30, 6 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

WP:NOTBROKEN, Part Deux

[edit]

Hello JIK1975! I notice that you are still adding piping to wikilinks even though they will automatically redirect to the correct article of interest. In case you weren't already aware, "fixing" those is completely unnecessary, and is actually discouraged as "single purpose" edits under the Wikipedia guideline called WP:NOTBROKEN. While what you are doing isn't "wrong", per se, it is being considered "disruptive by some other editors – if that situation continues, it can't be ruled out that a block won't result. So my advice would be to not worry about "fixing" redirect links any longer. Just so you know. --IJBall (contribstalk) 22:26, 20 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You said you wouldn't do this anymore. Stop this now or I will report you again. リボン・サルミネン (Ribbon Salminen) (LOLTNA) 09:20, 30 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for persistent disruptive editing. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Beeblebrox (talk) 00:53, 4 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I would note that most particpants in the discussion, which you apparently chose to ignore, favored only a short block. The problem with that is that given your previous attitude when these issues were brought to your attention, plus the fact that you said you would stop making such edits and your only reaction to this newest incident appears to have been to retract that statement, I do not believe a short block would have the desired effect. Of course, this could be a very short block if you would show some comprehension of the situation and make a sincere effort to avoid such editing in the future. The choice is yours.
