Greetings!
Greetings J.delanoy! Sorry to generate even more work for you, but a user you blocked recently, User talk:208.68.153.242, has started vandal editing again now that the block is up. His/her/their edits have been reverted by other editors without any warnings and as I'm not the reverting editor, not sure if I can jump in there to add further warnings prior to further future blocks. Either way, in case these edits had slipped your notice, maybe you can check it out. Cheers - and thanks for being out there! --Technopat (talk) 01:39, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- Well, it's apparently a school, so I doubt that the same person is vandalizing each time. I'll keep an eye on it, though. Thanks! J.delanoygabsadds 01:42, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- It all depends on whether one believes in coincidences...! Cheers! --Technopat (talk) 01:44, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

hello, J.delanoy. i just saw the vandalism that this IP user was perpetrating on the Carol Browner article. i think you are way too forgiving. i would have blocked the creep permanently after the third incident. (i'm no fan of Carol Browner). no need to respond. just my 2 cents worth. Kenatipo (talk) 02:54, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
The Razzies
Hi. I noticed your removals and then reverts on actor articles that added the Razzie award template. I am going to remove them, mostly because when WP:ACTOR debated and finally concluded to remove the parameters from the Template:Infobox actor, at no point in the debate did anyone support retaining the Razzie award parameter. The decision was basically that Razzies are bad faith parody awards, not legitimate industry or critical awards, are subject to voting by anyone who cares to pay the $25 fee to be a voter and ultimately wouldn't be listed on article filmographies or otherwise. My view is that WP:ACTOR has already made a conclusion about adding the template. If this is disupted, I will gladly open an WP:RfC at WT:ACTOR and I am absolutely positive of the outcome. Although these templates have been around for a while, they haven't been added to the articles until today by a new editor. Just wanted to let you know my reasoning. Wildhartlivie (talk) 02:45, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
- That's fine, I just was unsure they were positively vandalism, so if you want to remove them, you can proceed as if I never made those edits. J.delanoygabsadds 16:55, 1 November 2009 (UTC)
Wikitable
Hello there J.delanoy. Are you any good with Wikitables? If you are, please look at User:Razorflame#Current editing statistics I would like that to be in a table with headers that say the following: Header 1 (first column header) says Namespace :::: Header 2 (second column header) says Edit count :::: Header 3 (third column header) says Percentage of edits. Do you think you could do that for me, seeing as I suck at that kind of thing? Please let me know on my talk page whether or not you can help me. Thanks, Razorflame 19:56, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

You're invited!
New York City Meetup |
In the afternoon, we will hold a session dedicated to meta:Wikimedia New York City activities, review the recent Wikipedia Takes Manhattan, plan for the next stages of projects like Wikipedia at the Library and Wikipedia Loves Landmarks, and hold salon-style group discussions on Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia projects, for example particular problems posed by Wikipedia articles about racist and anti-semitic people and movements (see the September meeting's minutes).
In the evening, we'll share dinner and chat at a local restaurant, and generally enjoy ourselves and kick back.
You can add or remove your name from the New York City Meetups invite list at Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/Invite list.
To keep up-to-date on local events, you can also join our mailing list.

Requesting checkuser...
Hi J. I have strong reason to believe that IP User:98.26.40.33 is now blocked user:BillNyeIsaG. Both were vandalizing Bill Nye. Thanks, Tom A8UDI 00:02, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
- It's possible, but historically Bill Nye has attracted a lot of vandalism, so I don't know. In any case, User:BillNyeIsaG was blocked with autoblock enabled, so if the IP is him, both are now blocked. If the IP vandalizes again, he's not related to the account. Either way, I don't think a checkuser query is necessary, but thanks for bringing it to my attention. J.delanoygabsadds 00:05, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of List of simple dichotomies
Hi, I noticed you speedied that article. I am unsure C5 applied, since me and another editor had indeed contributed to the article (mostly trimming it) after its creation. I wonder if it is possible to have it userfied under User:Cyclopia/List of dichotomies (without "simple") or if there are issues I am not aware of that prevent recreation. I would like to bring it to a meaningful shape. Thanks! --Cyclopiatalk 17:28, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- Just a note - G5 doesn't pertain to who contributed to it; it pertains to who created it - in this case, by a banned user. That said, I'll userfy it now... Tan | 39 17:32, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
- G5 specifies "having no substantial edits by others." -This didn't seem the case to me, but anyway it's not a big problem. Thanks a lot for userfying it. --Cyclopiatalk 17:42, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

- Quick solution would be block PW, his renamed account, Poornutz, Jehisian zombie and NoR. 3 of them are already blocked.--Coldplay Expert 19:50, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
- Well, from the checkuser results, you all look like sockpuppets. I had something similar to this happen in the past, and what I did there was give IPBE to all the legitimate users, and then I hardblocked their main IP. I would like to do this, because it offers a (mostly) permanent solution, but I need to know which accounts are legit before I do. I am not sure that Lammidhania is actually in control of his PW account, so I don't want to block him right yet. J.delanoygabsadds 19:53, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

If you think I vandalize, it is your right, but banning this ip would just prove that you do not care for unregistered users, I have a contributed this encyclopedia for a long time and many times my edits were automatically reverted by some RETARDS or bots just because I wasn't registered going as far as being banned for adding information (and sources) to articles which now have the information kept on them because I was persistent and kept putting my changes until no bot or RETARD would automatically revert it.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.179.177.244 (talk • contribs)

Speedy-Deletion of "The MadHatters"
Hello,
Early today the article named "The MadHatters" was speedy-deleted citing G12 as well as G7 and G11. This stated that some of the material under the 'History' section of this article was copied from http://www.casa.org/node/2058. In fact, the information on http://www.casa.org/node/2058 was provided to the Contemporary A Cappella Society by The UW MadHatters as profile/biographical information. It was created by the MadHatters and can also be seen on their website http://www.uwmadhatters.com/content/view/madhatters_in_history/. This fact was posted on the Talk:The MadHatters page after CorenSearchBot notified me (the page's creator) of the possible copyright infringement.
Because this information was created by The MadHatters and provided to http://www.casa.org/node/2058, it should not be considered copyright infringement.
I would greatly appreciate your time and consideration in the matter of hopefully undeleting this article.
Thank you Bernecker (talk) 22:55, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

Purging edit summaries of deleted revisions
Hello J. I've recently picked up the mop and am still learning the toops and procedures. I'm presently looking at possibly cleaning up recent attacks in User talk:NJGW through a delete and selective restore operation, as you did several months back. I understand the delete and restore steps. However, when I look at the deleted revisions, I see that most of the prior edit summaries have been replaced with "(comment removed)". How can I do that. I cannot find instructions on the Wikipedia:New admin school/Deleting page and my searches to "comment removed" have been unsuccessful. Could you please enlighten me? -- Tom N (tcncv) talk/contrib 05:43, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
- That is done using a tool called RevisionDelete. Currently, only oversighters have "write" access to this tool. Admins can view most logs, but they cannot suppress content themselves. J.delanoygabsadds 06:12, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Blocking
A bit ridiculous isn't it, considering I have never edited anything on Wikipedia before, yet I get on the website to find a message saying i've been blocked. I think you need to work on your system a bit more with IP's.

You blocked this guy for sockpuppetry. It's likely that he is someone's sock (judging from the edit history, and his knowledge of policy), but he's not been overtly disruptive, and he's actually been helpful in the ongoing sockfest surrounding "team touchdown". Could you fill us in on what's going on? Thanks. Horologium (talk) 03:12, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- He is unquestionably the same person as Bot-From-Another-World, who, based on the logs from a while ago, is the same person as User:Pickbothmanlol. J.delanoygabsadds 03:18, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- I forgot that you are a checkuser now. The block was mentioned at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Deanops, which is why I asked. That investigation request keeps getting bigger and bigger as more socks pop up, and then seeing the initiator get blocked as a sock (without any clarification) raised a few eyebrows. I'll slap a template up on the userpage to let the others know what's going on. Horologium (talk) 03:28, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

You might want to checkuser 166.137.4.0/24, which is part of the range on which the vandal operates. You'll find something worth looking at, I think. I can handle it if you'd like, but I thought you might want to do it. --Deskana (talk) 19:07, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

RFCU inquiry
Hello. I was meaning to create an SPI, but it was hard for me to follow, and because I know you here a lot, I was hoping you could help me! Please check the page history on Todd Field, an article I created. By observing the edit summaries of the accounts in red, I believe they are under control of a main user. Perhaps the user forgot their password and is creating new accounts? Plus, most of the users are contributing only to pages related to Field. The period of time when there has been most activity from these possible "socks" was in the spring this year. So, what are your observations? Thanks. Schfifty3 04:39, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
- I don't think a checkuser query will return much. CheckUser can only look back three months, and the relatively slow pace of edits to that page means that I would only be able to look at the last three or four accounts, and I don't think it is likely that they are socks. J.delanoygabsadds 04:50, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
- You may not classify them as socks, but, to me, the users' edit summaries are very similar. Adding to that, those accounts seem to only contribute to Todd Field-related articles. Do you think I should start an SPI? Schfifty3 01:22, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- I did not say I didn't think they were socks. I said that in my opinion, a checkuser is unlikely to return much. J.delanoygabsadds 01:35, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

Another curiosity
Hi again! I realized I should have responded to the RFCU post, but I don't think I will right now. I am curious: on Mediawiki.org, I see a lot of reverts in your contribs. Protection of Ngo Dinh Diem presidential visit to Australia
Hi J.delanoy, thanks for protecting Ngo Dinh Diem presidential visit to Australia. I was going to request it, but then I realized it was a front-page article and that was probably why it was getting hit so hard. I had heard in the past that these articles were rarely protected because their increased visibility to vandals should correlate with increased visibility to anti-vandalism users, as well, so I was curious of your decision process here. What made you decide to protect it anyway? I only ask because I would like to try to get a better understanding of when WP:RPP is appropriate and when it's not. Thanks again! And try to take a break every once in a while; I always see you around working too hard ;) --Mpdelbuono (talk) 03:24, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
