Sockpuppet investigation

[edit]

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Sarahjkay, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

}} SmartSE (talk) 12:56, 3 April 2017 (UTC) Hello, I am just seeing now that I have two emails from Wikipedia today. As I read through the links sent in the email, I think there has been a huge mistake. I signed up for Wikipedia after meeting a nice woman named Sarah at a coffee shop - I believe it was Starbucks. She was sitting right next to me and I couldn't help but notice that she was in the backend of Wikipedia doing some edits. I was naturally quite intrigued and asked her about it. She kindly explained the Wikipedia community and how it works. She told me that she had done some Wiki work before and was trying to get back into it. She showed me what she was doing with the page on "Ryan Zagata" and the "Mataras twins". She also showed me how to sign up and that because Wiki does not pay anyone, you need people to edit pages and make sure they are legitimate. I signed up that day - it was March 14th. Naturally I went to the Mataras Twins' page because that was the example Sarah used. I saw a notification that somebody needed to review the page. I found it rather surprising that they did not have a page already since they have been in a lot of movies and there were many citations to back up their page. I followed the instructions on the notification, clicked edit, and verified the legitimacy of the page. A few weeks later, I was going through the website and came back to the Ryan Zagata page. I forget what the notification was but it was something to do with citations. I clicked all citations and they worked well. I am a PhD candidate and I know the importance of good citations. They are reasonable sources and I was actually interested in them as I work in sustainability so Mr. Zagata's bikes were really cool to me.[reply]

I was only trying to help and I hope that Sarah's account is not in jeopardy. I ask you to consider that I was only trying to help. Sarah if you are reading this, I am so sorry! I was only trying to return the favour and help you get your pages looking good. I'm not even sure that I am posting this in the right spot but I hope someone finds this and brings Sarah's account back. She was was only helping me and now I see you are accusing her of "sockpuppetry" or whatever you called it. Please ban me instead of her because she did nothing wrong. I hope you take this into consideration.

Request reason:

not a sockpuppet

Decline reason:

Given the technical and behavioural evidence, this is simply not plausible. Yamla (talk) 23:51, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
