Harvey Milk
[edit]Can you provide a source for the edit you did in Harvey Milk: the new musical? I did a quick Google search and the only information reflected by the title provided is the 1984 film documentary. The edit will stay in Milk's article for 24 hours. If no source is provided, I'm going to remove it after that. Thank you. --Moni3 (talk) 17:57, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Your edits to film articles
[edit]Some of the things you are doing in your edits to film articles go against established guidelines. Please ensure you rectify this so as not to waste your time or other editors' time.
- Note that Infobox Film has been renamed to Infobox film (with a lower case "f"). It really doesn't matter if it uses the upper case or lower case F, but changing it from lower to upper may be frowned upon.
- Do not use image_size. This should only ever be used in the rare case that the original image size is lower than 200px.
- Release dates - see WP:FilmRelease
- Only the primary languages are listed in the infobox. IMDb lists all the languages, so it it should not be blindly copied.
- Do not add user ratings from sites such as IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, etc. as they are vulnerable to vote stacking and demographic skew.
- The name of the Allmovie template is {{amg movie}} not {{amg title}}. Do not change it from right to less correct.
- Do not remove the DEFAULTSORT key from articles, they are required for proper categorization.
I would recommend reading the infobox guidelines and the Film style guidelines. Thank you. kollision (talk) 07:30, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
Can't Hardly Wait
[edit]I agree with some of the clean-ups you made to the Can't Hardly Wait page, but am confused as to why you removed information on numerous cast members. Care to explain? --hsxeric (talk) 16:02, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
Kung Fu Hustle
[edit]Hi, can you check back on Kung Fu Hustle really quick? I think your edits may generally be a good idea, but not for a foreign film (produced in Hong Kong).
Specifically:
- Release dates: I think all of them belong. Canada is the first release, China is the home country, and the US and UK are "majority English-speaking countries" (WP:FilmRelease).
- Distributors: Home territory definitely belongs.
- Languages: When there are multiple languages, they need to be wikilinked manually (Template:Infobox Film).
- Dates should conform to the article, which uses "4 July 1776" format.
- "US$" may seem obvious, but it's necessary to distinguish from the HK$ of its home territory. I'm not sure I'd agree with removing the "$" link in any article, since Wikipedia is global and a number of countries use the dollar.
I've reverted the changes above, but I'm not really familiar with the film guidelines, so let me know what you think. Best, Pslide (talk) 00:19, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for File:YouthInRevolt.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:YouthInRevolt.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 22:57, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image (File:YouthInRevolt.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:YouthInRevolt.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 22:57, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Zombieland, and your formatting of film articles
[edit]Some of your formatting of film articles here is "off." For example, the release dates of every country the film was released in should be in the infobox, not one date (the American one) in the infobox as if that is the film's universal release date. One example of all the release dates being used is the featured Transformers (film) article. Thus, I am not sure why you removed all the release dates from the Zombieland article, but I advise you against this. Additionally, Columbus's rules are a theme in Zombieland, and should be under the title Themes (especially since the Themes section may be expanded with other stuff later), not as a subsection of the Plot section. We generally do not have subsections of film plot sections here. I reverted these two edits by you to the Zombieland article. Flyer22 (talk) 20:18, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, ItsTheClimb17 was doing the right thing regarding release dates. (See: WP:FILMRELEASE.) You are wrong, and I have corrected this.--Cinemaniac86Dane_Cook_Hater_Extraordinaire 23:14, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- I was not wrong about ItsTheClimbs17's other edits. Check them. And I still state that featured articles such as the Transformers (film) article is better off with them. Flyer22 (talk) 20:46, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- I never said you were, and you took care of those, so I don't care. (Also, I haven't seen the film yet, so I am avoiding the Plot/Cast/Rules sections, especially to avoid the secret cameo appearance.) And as for Transformers, well, you'll have to aim for a consensus at the Infobox Template's Discussion page, because this is the American Wikipedia and it's an American film. I'd probably support it, because I think at the very least British/Canadian/Australian dates are often semi-notable, in specific instances.--Cinemaniac86Dane_Cook_Hater_Extraordinaire 20:50, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

Hey, Climb, just wanted to let you know that I appreciate your updates, which were very helpful (although I might add Tom Waits and Will Arnett back into the infobox, as they are notable). The only two issues were the distributor (LionsGate handled only the DVD, so it's in the article instead) and the release date (I knew this was wrong, because I remember seeing it for the second time in October--first time as a screener...fucking love this movie, FYI). Per guidelines, the infoboxes should have generally no more than two dates (if American):
1) IF it made a premiere at a festival, that should be the first date, in addition to the second date below; 2) OR just the *first* American release date, in which the limited date takes precedence over the wide release. We can factor the wide release date into the intro of the article instead.
Hope this is helpful to you. FYI, don't listen to Flyer22--he's doing it wrong =).--Cinemaniac86Dane_Cook_Hater_Extraordinaire 23:14, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
Personal Information on your Userpage
[edit]Hi ItsTheClimb17. My name is Backslash Forwardslash. I am a Wikipedia administrator, and I noticed you have recently created a userpage. I don't intend to scare you away or attempt to intimidate you, but I thought you might want to reconsider some of the items on your userpage. You may have not realised that the items on your userpage release personal information about yourself (real name or age etc), which could be used against you in the future. While 99% of all the editors on Wikipedia are friendly, welcoming and harmless, there is a chance your personal information could be misused by editors not so 'high-minded'. A handful of editors have even felt real-world implications due to their Wikipedia edits and release of personal information.
Protecting your privacy, and remaining anonymous while on the internet — on any site — is a good idea. The internet is a worldwide and largely unregulated medium, and while Wikipedia is one of the safer sites, there are definite risks while online. With cyber-bullying and cyberstalking becoming increasingly commonplace, it is important that you take every precaution to remain safe.
I have deleted some revisions of your userpage in respect to your privacy for the time being, just in case you wish to reverse on your decision to have such content on public display. As a result, the information is only available to administrators. You are, of course, welcome to ask myself or another administrator to restore them, but I just wanted to make you aware of the risks involved with releasing personal information on such a public forum. If you wish to have the personal information removed so that even administrators cannot view it, I can request oversight on your behalf. You are also welcome to discuss this with me on my talk page, or privately via e-mail if you have any concerns. Again, I do not want to scare you. Wikipedia is a fantastic place with an incredibly supportive community. I'm just trying to ensure you are fully aware of the risks involved in editing, which are very similar to the risks you come across every day online. Hope to hear from you. \ Backslash Forwardslash / (talk) 10:41, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
Let Me In

"Mins." vs. "Minutes" in film infoboxes
[edit]Since there's plenty of room in film infoboxes for the full word "minutes", there's really no good reason to change it to "mins.", as I believe you've done a number of times. Also, why delete the country connected to a release date? Films gets released on different dates in different countries, and it's customary to indicate what release date is being referred to. Thanks. Beyond My Ken (talk) 22:40, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
Infobox changes
[edit]I have reverted your changes to the One Hundred and One Dalmatians, The Princess and the Frog, and several other film articles as the changes you made introduced incorrect formatting and changes to the infobox, and in the case of the first two, undid some clean up work that had been done on the article, and inappropriately removed valid tags on articles. Please take a few moments to read the Template:Infobox film documentation so you can learn how the template is used. For example, the release date is supposed to use the {{start date}} template, and should only be the first release, not one for several countries. Flags are not used in infoboxes anymore, and the year in the lead should not be linked using the {{fy}} templates. You may always want to look at the film article style guidelines for guidance in working with film articles. Thanks, -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 14:42, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Titanic (1997 film), without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Changes to Donnie Darko
[edit]Hi ItsTheClimb,
Thanks for your edit to Donnie Darko. I reverted your change of the worldwide gross figure as it was inconsistent with the cited source. There's been some discussion about this figure which you can see at Talk:Donnie_Darko#Budget_.26_Revenue_inconsistencies; you're welcome to contribute but it doesn't make sense to change a cited figure without also changing the citation.

[edit]In a recent edit to the page Venus (film), you changed one or more words from one international variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.
For subjects exclusively related to Britain (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to other English-speaking countries, such as Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, use the appropriate variety of English used there. If it is an international topic, use the same form of English the original author used.
In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to the other, even if you don't normally use the version the article is written in. Respect other people's versions of English. They in turn should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Wikipedia:Manual of Style. If you have any queries about all this, you can ask me on my talk page or you can visit the help desk. Thank you. –CapitalLetterBeginning (talk) 16:30, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
About your edits
[edit]About this edit, there was no point in changing $40 million to $40,000,000 in the infobox. It's just unnecessary. Also, please refrain from removing the {{plot}} notice, the plot is too long and overly detailed and it lets editors know to shorten it. Thanks. Mike Allen 04:37, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

- You did the same with this edit to Silverado (film). Good articles are articles which have been evaluated and have fulfilled certain standard requirements, they are not simply articles that some editor believes are good. Replaceable fair use File:J.T. Tepnapa.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:J.T. Tepnapa.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. VernoWhitney (talk) 15:14, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
