Welcome!

Hello Itamae, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!  -- KHM03 20:59, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, KHM. While wiki syntax isn't exactly a forte of mine, I've been a user of Wikipedia for awhile, just never bothered to make a userpage. See you around the wiki. :D --Itamae

Userboxes

[edit]

Wikipedia:Babel is a place to start for language boxes. You can also go the Wikipedia:Userboxes page to see how it's done. Also, you're welcome to borrow or change the Steelers box I made for myself.

This user is a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Happy editing! KHM03 21:09, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wow...you're fast! Great! I'm also a bassist, BTW...Paul McCartney is the greatest bassist ever...I commend his work to you! Hope to see you around the WP! -- KHM03 21:12, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome. I play lefty too :D I was just fixing up my userpage when the "You have new messages" box popped up. And thanks for the Steelers box. --Itamae 21:15, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure I get your question (or that I know the answer!). Try the help desk...sorry! KHM03 21:30, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

For example, say I wanted the steelers userbox to be aligned to the right edge of the page , without writing a whole table like you did on your page. Is there some wiki shortcut? --Itamae 21:32, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure...haven't had to do that. Try asking Jayjg on his talk page...he's an administrator and an all around good egg (you can tell him I sent you!). Sorry! KHM03 21:36, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

That's OK, I've actually just figured it out and am in the process of coding it. Thanks for all your help, see you around the wiki. --Itamae 21:37, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

[edit]

Hey, I saw your name on the "Users who endorse this summary" thing on the issue of some politicians vandalising wikipeida. It took me by surprise. Well, that's all for now! --Vironex 04:16, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Amor vincit omnia

[edit]

You wrote:

correcting case, omniam should be in accusative and i think vincit should be vincet. revert if wrong.

It was indeed wrong. Here's why:

  • omnia is a neuter plural, not a feminine singular. The nominative and accusative of any neuter in the Latin language are always identical. So omnia is already in the accusative. The feminine singular would mean "every woman" rather than "everything", and in any case since omnis -e is third declension the form would be omnem, not *omniam, which does not exist. (In point of fact one cannot distinguish the feminine form of this particular adjective from the masculine form, so omnem would actually mean "everyone")
  • The verb "to conquer" is vincere, but it is important to note that that's vincĕre with a short e, not *vincēre. Thus, the verb is of the third conjugation, not the second. In the present tense, therefore, it's vincit. Vincet, as it happens, would be the future tense: "Love will conquer."

I hope this has been helpful. --Iustinus 17:49, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
