Help me!

[edit]

Hi. It's Douglas again about learning editing and the California capital punishment page. Thank you so much for your response. I did manage to fix the broken link and replace it with a footnote. The footnote itself is correctly numbered as 16, but at the bottom of the page, footnote 16 has only "[1]" and an acrobat symbol. On the editing page, the references at the bottom states "

". I looked at Wikipedia's footnote help page but couldn't figure it out. I guess my question is: once one has inserted a footnote, how does one edit the footnote name and material and the bottom of the page? Once again, if you are busy, please do not worry. I will muddle my way through somehow! I'm not even sure if this is the right way to contact you or anyone for help.

Help me!

[edit]

Hi. Sorry, I'm still learning slowly and making mistakes. I uploaded to the Commons a photo of Jean Paul Sartre's funeral that I found on the internet, and placed it on his Wikipedia page. I was actually at the funeral!

A Wikipedia editor informed me that the photo will be deleted unless sufficient copyright info is provided. I've been researching how to provide a justification (fair use?), but the information is both voluminous and confusing. I'm still not sure how to reach these talk pages!

I can locate the list of photos that I've uploaded to the commons (less than 10). Some belong to me. How do I edit the others to provide sufficient licensing information? One photo, I asked to be deleted by placing "speedy delete" on it.

As always, if you are busy, please do not worry. I will muddle my way through.

Regards,

Douglas

Hello again, Douglas here. I think I figured out my footnote issue. I used the cite template. Learning, but slowly. Thank you again.

Hi

[edit]

Hello Issyvoo, just dropping a note to say Hi and hoping you're doing OK. I've been editing here about ten years, and I remember when when I started I made lots of mistakes. I remember getting completely bollixed up trying to move some pages, then realizing I wanted to undo that, which is not easy (moving a pages leave a page with the old name in place as a Wikipedia:Redirect to the new name, so you can't just move it back because you can't move pages to an existing name) and boy was I in despair, but a kindly editor got me straightened out.

I don't know, it may not be quite as friend here now as it was ten years ago, but mostly people are pretty helpful, and the main thing to remember is that if you make a mistake someone will come along and fix it. I still make errors but I don't worry about it too much, the main thing is good intent. Formatting and so forth can always be cleaned up later.

Anyway, hope you are doing well and welcome. Herostratus (talk) 13:08, 19 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Draft:Cathi House, a page you created, has not been edited in 6 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot (talk) 01:31, 17 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Cathi House

[edit]

Hello Issyvoo. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Cathi House".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by one of two methods (don't do both): 1) follow the instructions at WP:REFUND/G13, or 2) copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Draft:Cathi House}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, and click "Save page". An administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 02:08, 27 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
