[edit]

I was starting to feel a bit of wiki-stress as I worked through today's AfD's. Then I came across your reference to emocruft, and by the time I finished chuckling my blood pressure was back to normal. Thanks :) --Doc Tropics Message in a bottle 05:16, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just wish mom and dad would understand... -- IslaySolomon | talk 06:00, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I too enjoyed a good, hardy laugh when I came across your response to living in "2 places at the same time" on User talk:72.209.25.80. I thank you for that. And please believe me when I say that all Americans are not that stupid. Wavy G 03:46, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that has to be an all time vandalism classic . I think I'm going to frame it one my user page. Did you also spot their attempt to create an new userbox? [1]. You can rest assured that I have met some very intelligent Americans in my time and that some youtube kids aren't in any danger of denting the US's reputation. For further giggles I heartily recommend watching their "notable film company"'s latest releases: [2]-- IslaySolomon | talk 04:00, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Wow. That was great. I must say, I must've missed the part in the AfD discussion about their "film company" consisting of a group of fifteen year olds with a youtube account. I couldn't stop laughing watching their "horror film" and thinking about them adamantly arguing to keep an article about such. That's classic. Wavy G 04:57, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Depeche Mode Instruments

[edit]

There has been a lot of talk over whether this should've been on the main Depeche Mode page. I moved it. It seems that if the Beatles are allowed to have their instruments listed, so should any other band. Would it be alright to have on the main page at least? Human historian 22:31, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well obviously I don't think so per the reasons I have given. Since you seem to be contesting the proposed deletion and because of the history of the content I will be nominating this article for an WP:AfD debate. -- IslaySolomon | talk 22:35, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I put in my two cents, about the deletion on the talk page. Please respond. Human historian 23:19, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Chicken and Rice article

[edit]

Hey, I have updated the page and removed words weasels and self-promotions, hopefully you can take a look :) 165.230.74.162 19:06, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to see if you had changed your views concerning the AfD for The Wiseguys: Comedy You Can't Refuse. There have been major edits performed to the enrty in an attempt to meet Wikipedia:Notability (comedy) since your comment on the talk page. Any additional comments would be appreciated in the effort to make the entry comply.

Thank you for your consideration.Apatronoftruth 18:34, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi there; I was just warning this user when you beat me to it. Although you gave him a final warning, I could not see any previous examples of his vandalism. They may, of course, have been deleted. Please tell me to mind my own business if you are so moved, but you do know, I trust, that wiki policy is to give a suspected vandal four warnings, of increasing firmness, before blocking him/her? Giving a level four warning for a first offence is liable to result in no admin being willing to block, which negates your effort.--Anthony.bradbury 01:06, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No. There are four warnings, but they need not be used in order, nor need they all be used. This case was so strong (giving away contact details for an attack page victim) that it merited the use of the strongest warning. -- IslaySolomon | talk 01:16, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thank you for clarifying that.--Anthony.bradbury 01:20, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jellybeans

[edit]
You have been awarded these Jelly Beans from -The Doctor- Please, enjoy them.

Here are some Jelly beans for you. I love jelly beans as they have sugar in them and most people love sugar. But on the other hand just receiving somthing from somone else just makes you happy and also just giving this to you makes me happy. I hope to spread the jelly beans all over Wikipedia, so here, you can have this lot. Please enjoy them. (I like the lime ones.)

Editors need a bit of a sugar high too.

An apple a day keeps -The Doctor- away. Or does it! (talk)(contribs) 02:20, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. Sorry, for being so curt. A diet coke binge has kept me up all night (it just turned 6am here) and starting pointless arguments in AfD discussions seems to be symptom. *twitches* -- IslaySolomon | talk 06:06, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy Deletion

[edit]

Dear IslaySolomon,

I beleive you put a tag on the top of the Swan River Trust page which said it was clearly copied of a url.

The text is copied of the following page which I co-published. Therefore, it is my work which is being used and does not breach any policies, assuming the text is upto standards.

please give me some ideas and I shall make sure I make the necessary changes

symode09 11:45, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not an admin, so deciding whether or not your article should be deleted isn't up to me, I just tagged it as "copyvio", which it is. You can find detailed information about copyrights and Wikipedia at Wikipedia:Copyrights. The right place to contest your article's speedy deletion is on its talk page, having added the {{hangon}} tag to the article. Given what you have just told me, I would direct you to WP:AUTO/WP:COI. Also very relevant are our notability guidelines, which, frankly, I doubt this group meets. -- IslaySolomon | talk 11:51, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oops. I see you're an established editor, so sorry if some of that was a bit patronising. Frankly, I'm out of my depth when it comes to copyrights and the GFDL so I'll leave it tagged and see what an admin has to say about it. -- IslaySolomon | talk 11:58, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello you said that This article or section is not written in the formal tone expected of an encyclopedia article. I went through Wikipedia's guide to writing better articles and made some changes. Please see the article now. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jyothisingh (talkcontribs) 12:54, 17 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Yeah, that's definitely an improvement. I'll leave removing or leaving the tag up to you. As a biography of a living person you should make sure that every detail of the "Biography" section is verified by your sources or else cite the source(s) that you got the information from. -- IslaySolomon | talk 13:46, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Harry Image

[edit]

No need to apologise- thanks for pointing out the potential prob. On reflection I may have been a little too trusting of the source. I have made a couple of comments on the talk page. Better for you to raise the question now that the image to be up for months and then turn out not to be genuine... - WJBscribe (WJB talk) 13:17, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your comments on the AfD for this article. Please state your opinion and don't rubbish mine, keep it civil. Thanks Mallanox 03:59, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I was only trying to indicate that I don't agree with you, I certainly didn't mean the comment to be taken personally or to be seen to be invalidating your (perfectly valid) opinion. -- IslaySolomon | talk 16:04, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that I have added List of burrito fillings to this AFD (as suggested by one of the voters); you may wish to add a comment or reconsider your vote. Brianyoumans 23:25, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An image that you uploaded, Image:Eyebrowexample.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a suspected copyright violation. Please look there if you know that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), and then provide the necessary information there and on its page, if you are interested in it not being deleted. Hi, I saw your message on Image talk:Eyebrowexample.jpg. Yes, I will delete the image. For Flickr images it's better to upload to Commons. Every flickr image there is checked so that even if a user changes the license, it still can stay on wikimedia. Garion96 (talk) 19:37, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Tasteinmencover.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Tasteinmencover.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 04:32, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Slavetothewagecover.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Slavetothewagecover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 10:44, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. New deal for page patrollers

[edit]

Hi IslaySolomon,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:28, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
