Speedy deletion nomination of TRACING THE SUPPLY OF COMPONENTS USED IN ISLAMIC STATE IEDs Evidence from a 20-month investigation in Iraq and Syria

[edit]

Hello IshaalZehra,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged TRACING THE SUPPLY OF COMPONENTS USED IN ISLAMIC STATE IEDs Evidence from a 20-month investigation in Iraq and Syria for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. JamesG5 (talk) 07:20, 8 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I wanted to touch base about why your article was removed. The group that created the report has a Wikipedia page. Typically a single report from a group like that would not merit an entire page to itself. It was also overly long & detailed, not encyclopedic in construction, appeared to be advocating for or promoting a particular point of view, and was formatted improperly. Most seriously, the bulk of the article was directly plagiarized (copied) from the report itself, which is strictly not allowed. If you'd like to know more I'd be happy to link you to the relevant policies. JamesG5 (talk) 16:36, 8 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Ishaal. Saw your note on my talk page, and I wanted to clarify that I did not delete your article, only admins can do that. If it was removed that means an admin reviewed it and agreed it should be deleted. To your point, though, the content of the publication might be important but that doesn't mean it warrants an entire article. A very brief section, about the length of the description you gave on my page, on the main page for the group makes more sense. However, you're welcome to repost the article in an appropriate format and have it reviewed again. You might want to check out the Teahouse for more assistance.
