Orphaned non-free image File:OlsonCommunications Chicago Logo.png

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:OlsonCommunications Chicago Logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. SuperMarioMan 20:45, 16 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your message. Unfortunately, I have to inform you that the tagging is supported by the relevant image policy. As stated by NFCC point 9, non-free/fair-use images can be used only in the article namespace – "live" articles that make up the encyclopaedia. (See Wikipedia:What is an article?#Namespace for more information.) This excludes all other namespaces, including Articles for Creation drafts (because normally, like yours, they are written in the "Wikipedia talk:" namespace).

Since the logo image is not being used in a live article, it is – technically, for all intents and purposes – orphaned. Instead of removing the image from the AfC draft, I have re-instated the deletion tag. If an AfC reviewer moves your submission to the article namespace within a week, feel free to remove the tag at that time; if the image is deleted before the submission is accepted, feel free to re-upload it after acceptance. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but for legal reasons, some aspects of image use on Wikipedia aren't negotiable ...

I hope that this provides you with a clear explanation of my actions. If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask them (be it here or on my talk page). SuperMarioMan 03:15, 17 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Need Assistance

[edit]

I have an article that I submitted for creation. One of the requests is that I verify an article with that name doesn't already exist. Unfortunately one does. Which is the ideal action to take and how can I got about doing it...

  1. Make the article name ambiguous
  2. Rename the other article
  3. Rename my article

Would appreciate any help. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Irothenbaum (talkcontribs) 17:47, 17 December 2013‎

Reply to {{help me}} request: There are several ways to handle this. Can you tell me the name of the article and what the difference is between your use of the name and the article already in place? Just reply below here and I will return and continue to help you. No need to place a new {{help me}} template. Also please sign your talk page posts using four tildes (~~~~). —    Bill W.    (Talk)  (Contrib)  — 18:09, 17 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Better reply: I see the articles now, sorry for the confusion. The best way would be to call the articles Olson Communications (Chicago) and Olson Communications (Phoenix) and then create a hatnote at the top to distinguish between the two companies. —    Bill W.    (Talk)  (Contrib)  — 18:19, 17 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
