Speedy deletion contested: Poseidons love for demeter
Hello Inks.LWC. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Poseidons love for demeter, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: There is sufficient context to identify the subject of the article. Thank you. →Σ talkcontribs 01:38, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
Re: 2012 Boston Red Sox season
It should be noted that a number of other MLB teams already have their 2012 season pages created as well. If one violates the WP:Future rule, wouldn't all of them violate it? Please explain. RedSoxFan274 (leave a message~contribs) 01:47, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- Just because other articles exist doesn't mean that one should. That was the article that I found, so I tagged it for deletion. Inks.LWC (talk) 01:54, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- Well, in that case, you might wish to take a look at some other teams' 2012 season articles as well, some of which don't even have as much information as the one for the Red Sox—and the information in that article, I admit, is lacking. RedSoxFan274 (leave a message~contribs) 04:08, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- Do you have any links? Inks.LWC (talk) 04:10, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- 2012 New York Yankees season, 2012 Tampa Bay Rays season, 2012 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim season, 2012 Cleveland Indians season, 2012 Florida Marlins season, among others. Last year, I found out, the 2011 Red Sox season article was created on September 27th, but then again I don't know if it was still marked as being too early like the 2012 article was. ANN
any idea why ANN is fail as reliable sources? Anime News Network--Ald™ ¬_¬™ 14:13, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- note based on WP:A&M/ORS it's one of reliable sources --Ald™ ¬_¬™ 14:28, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- But 1) you didn't use that as a reference, only as an external link. 2) You linked to the encyclopedia, and WP:A&M/ORS clearly says, "In addition, because the encyclopedia portion is user-edited, that information is not reliable by Wikipedia standards." I would kinly ask that you replace my PROD tags. Inks.LWC (talk) 18:01, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

- Hiroki Yasumoto doesn't even have references, so don't make it like that. The other 2 are properly referenced. You need reliable sources as references for your subject, otherwise he/she fails WP:GNG. Inks.LWC (talk) 18:19, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Mark Buller declined
Thanks for your recent new page patrolling. Just to let you know, I've declined the speedy deletion of Mark Buller under the importance criteria because a credible claim of importance was made: "is a recipient of several awards, including the 2010 Vanguard Premieres Choral Composition Contest (Emerging Composers Category) and two ASCAPlus Awards." Obviously this doesn't prevent you from taking it to Articles for Deletion or proposing it for deletion. --Mrmatiko (talk) 14:28, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
What would be the point of deleting this page? It would just end up being put up again in the next few weeks if not in the next few days. As the current season winds down, more and more information will fit in the 2012 season page and not the 2011 page, like the schedule. Everything on the page is referenced and it would absolutely foolish to delete it. I cannot speak for the other 2012 season pages that have been put up, but I can assure you that I see to it that the Angels season page is properly referenced and up-to-date. --CASportsFan (talk) 04:39, 16 September 2011 (UTC)
Dates
Hey, I noticed you were fixing the Meteorological Section of Hurricane Maria. Just a piece of advice though -- You probably shouldn't link dates, they are reverted by other people. Try something else to link those too. TropicalAnalystwx13 (talk) 23:51, 16 September 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion contested: Nnu students union contact center
Hello Inks.LWC, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Nnu students union contact center, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: A7 does not apply to schools. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. →Στc. 05:16, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
- It's not a school. The article states that it is a student organization, which would fall under A7 just like any other organization. Inks.LWC (talk) 05:18, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

- Nope - not that page. Just a misunderstanding of the redirect. That page is definitely fine. Inks.LWC (talk) 09:14, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
French title capitalization
You moved the content of L'amour braque (correct title spelling) to L'amour Braque (incorrect title spelling). French titles are presented sentence style. The IMDB reference I provided shows the correct spelling. For reference: [Naming Conventions (films)]. Rjaklitsch (talk) 18:41, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
- I was going based on the poster for the movie that was in the article, which did capitalize the second word. Inks.LWC (talk) 18:44, 20 September 2011 (UTC)
Anthony Bologna
Hi, I was simply in the middle of editing the page myself, and I posted my own edit only to learn after-the-fact that I had thereby overridden your edit, so I didn't mean to be aggressive about it. However, I have edited the article again to address your concern, which now makes it clear that this is not an individual who is in the news for a single incident. This is well-documented by media coverage. See http://www.google.com/search?q=%22anthony+bologna%22+2004&num=100&hl=en&safe=off&gl=us&source=lnms&ei=S6uCTuKPNYbjiALU9PT4DA&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=1&ved=0CBUQ_AUoAA&biw=1065&bih=883 for approximately 6,050 news articles and Web pages documenting public records regarding a similar incident involving this police officer in 2004. PromiseOfNY (talk) 05:10, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- Not a problem. My only point was that even if he's now notable for the old event, that's only because of this event. I was unable to find any articles at the time mentioning his involvement in the 2004 case. Inks.LWC (talk) 05:14, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- How is that relevant? There's no rule that the old event has to be noted at the time. The fact is that it's been widely noted now, and, as of now, Bologna is famous for both incidents--not for a single incident. So WP:BLP1E does not apply. Maybe WP:BLP1E should be modified, but until it is, it should be applied according to its own language, right?PromiseOfNY (talk) 05:26, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- Well, I've started a discussion on the talk page, so we'll see what the consensus is. Inks.LWC (talk) 05:26, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- PromiseofNY and I took a few whacks at the article. I think it's clearly not a BLP1E and also not an attack page at this point - let me know if you see further urgent trouble with it. Wnt (talk) 08:51, 28 September 2011 (UTC)

CSD A7 on Tanaya Henry
Hi, I wanted to let you know that I have challenged your WP:CSD A7 on Tanaya Henry. In my opinion the references in the article, reference #2 in particular, provide enough of a claim of importance that the article should not deleted under Criteria A7. The references have some WP:RS issues, and may well not be enough to establish the notability of the subject. I have no objection if you would like to pursue an alternative deletion process. Monty845 03:35, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
I invite you back to the discussion of How It Feels to Be Run Over which you nominated for deletion. While you stated you were yourself unable to find sources, every other editor commenting at the AFD was able to find multiple sources, and a few have actually been added to the article. It's snowing, so perhaps a withdrawal might be in order? Best, Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 20:48, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Alleged Vandalism?
http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User_talk:Domino27#October_2011
Can we discuss please? I'm not a vandal, my correction was correct! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Domino27 (talk • contribs) 15:27, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
Hi again. Thanks for getting back to me, I'm glad we got that sorted and I understand your logic, but I have a couple of supplementary questions, one about style, and one about etiquette. The style one is that, in order to prevent or discourage someone from accidentally / erroneously restoring the incorrect link, I think it wise to include my comment, possibly as a footnote to the table. Would that be acceptable, or is there a preferred style for such corrections?
The etiquette one is hopefully more simple. In cases like this, should we have the discussion on your discussion page, or mine, or on the discussion page for the article?
Thanks again. Domino27 (talk) 23:06, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
- I've added some code saying not to link to the page. If you want, you could create a page about the song Kiki Dee sang, and then link to that. But anymore discussion about what should be done with her page should be done on the talk page for the article. Inks.LWC (talk) 00:11, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
Extrodinary difficulty with formatting Wikilinks
Dear sir, I am writing because I'm feeling somewhat desperate and you signed the kindly welcome message on my talk page <http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User_talk:Wmhanks>. I am tying to publish an article about a notable figure in the 60s protest and underground press movement in America. I have another article about a notable figure in Texas history but that's on the back burner.
The article on Thorne Webb Dreyer (son of Margaret Webb Dreyer) has taken many months to prepare. I've made good progress with it. I've read many of the help pages, and have had some help from several volunteers and an editor, RHaworth. I am a writer and editor with a good deal of experience in print, film, and television media but I have no programming skills whatsoever. I nearly went nuts when I tried to learn MSDOS back in the early 90s.
I really need help with this or I fear it will never get done. Some things I've been able to do and others I just hit a brick wall. The current wall is that I spent a day putting links to other Wikipedia articles as suggested on the "dead end" tag at the top of my draft and now find out I've done it all wrong and, while they all work, they display as external links on the page (the little arrow instead of just the line under the link). I've tried very hard to master these skills and have put a lot of time into it but I am, as is said, at my wits end. For example when I put in the link to Margaret Webb Dreyer in this note, I clicked the "link" button on the edit page, got the dialog window, but when I selected "Wikipedia page" it returned "page does not exist". When I selected the external link button, it showed to be a good link. So that's how most of my Wikipedia links display. It just wouldn't let me put them in any other way.
When you have a moment could you please look at it <http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Wmhanks/Thorne_Webb_Dreyer> and see if there is just something simple that I'm missing? Mr. Haworth has provided examples but some of them I simply cannot understand try as I may. With all the time and work that has gone into this article, It would be a shame to see it fall here in the home stretch. I sure hope you can provide some direction. Thank you for your consideration, wmhanks (talk) 07:09, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
- When you want to link to something, you simply put the title of the article you want to link to in double brackets. So if you want to link to http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Houston,_Texas, simply type "[[Houston, Texas]]" (not including the quotation marks) and it will appear as Houston Texas. Inks.LWC (talk) 07:14, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for your explanation. I have used programs like "Dreamweaver" (WYSIWYG HTML markup generator). The convention there and with all such programs is to click the "chain" (insert link) icon and enter the URL. Since the appearance was the same I thought it was the same procedure. To clarify: the edit mode software running in the background does the work of looking up the reference and inserts the page from Wikipedia automatically? Who would have thunk it? I still don't see how that works because when I do a lookup for a Wiki article, I often have to select from several alternative search terms to find the reference that I am particularly looking for. I guess the software is smarter than I am. Thanks again, I'll try it, wmhanks (talk) 13:15, 21 October 2011 (UTC)
- It looks like you got everything going and got the page to the Main space! It looks like a good article. Perhaps one day, they'll get Wikipedia to use WSIWYG style markup, which would make it a lot easier the not-so-tech-savvy people of the world to edit (which would be great for the encyclopedia). If you have any other questions, feel free to write me a message here any time. Inks.LWC (talk) 18:25, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

I'll get to you as soon as I have time. HurricaneFan25 13:11, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
- There's several problems with both articles.
- The lede in both articles needs to be expanded with the impact and preparations in advance.
- The "heavy rainfall" in Cyclone Fay's article needs to be removed; but there's a bit of good stuff at the end of the section that should be put into the impact section.
- Can you find more impact? You can usually find a good amount of stuff via Google News. Type in something like "Cyclone Fay" into the search box and click on "2010" in the left column.
- Try improving the quality of writing by copyediting the article. The link earlier has some good stuff.
- Write more about the conditions that led to the forming of the cyclone, as your MH is currently very brief on the origins.
Hope this helps! HurricaneFan25 14:09, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

- Is there consensus on what version to use for the max winds / minimum pressure from the best track data? The JTWC has higher winds but higher pressures than the BOM, so I'm not sure which to go by.
- You use both. The winds from the JTWC are 1-min and are thus comparable to the SSHS while BOM and the rest of the RSMC/TCWCs use 10. however for pressure we just go by the RSMC/TCWC.Jason Rees (talk) 01:13, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
