[edit]
Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page.

Request reason:

Dear Cullen328,

Thank you for your insightful message. I am trully sorry about my unawareness and grateful for the issues you pointed out. I am happy to comply with the stated policies and would like to provide the explanation for my actions following the order of the listed bullet points:

1. I am an employee of ingenhoven associates and extrernal communication is part of my job. I am using the old existing account of our firm (Ingenhoven architects) in order to be perfectly transparent about the source and background of my contributions.

2. While I understand the reason for being blocked (advertising or promotion), I would like to clarify that I am not the author of the article about Christoph Ingenhoven. The original article is written by his employee. My edit was made solely for the purpose of clarifying the previously ambiguisly written text, which leads to believe that the firm christoph ingenhoven architects is the legal successor company of ingenhoven associates, which is not correct.

3. If unblocked, I would monitor articles related to ingenhoven associates and apply corrections (with citations for proof) to erroneous or ambiguious contributions. If not contradicting Wikipedia policies, I would also keep the "ingenhoven associates" article up to date (e.g. ownership / management changes, new projects) - all kept neutral and without unnecessary marketing wording.

4. proposed new neutral username: ia_communications

Once again thank you for the clarification opportunity. I am happy at you disposal for any comments or questions.

Kind regards

Decline reason:

Your choice of new username is not an improvement, please read the username policy. Your username must be individualistic in nature, as accounts are strictly single person use only and may not be shared. Your company name may be a portion of your username, such as "JohnDoe of IA". Your real name is not required. As you are editing as part of your job duties, you are required by the Terms of Use to make a formal paid editing disclosure. You should also read conflict of interest. You won't be unblocked to, in the short term, edit about your company directly. If that is your only goal here, this is the end of the road. If you want to edit about other topics as a general contributor, please tell what those might be. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 09:12, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I would also advise you that others at your company should not create their own accounts and attempt to do as you did, or they will be blocked as sock puppets of you. 331dot (talk) 09:12, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please be aware of an important difference between the German and English Wikipedias. Each is a separate project with similar but not identical policies. While German Wikipedia allows verified accounts to be named after companies and organizations, English Wikipedia does not. English Wikipedia also explicitly disallows accounts to be shared with different people. Only one person is allowed to use an account for its entire lifetime, and every edit made by a Wikipedia account must be attributable to the same real-life individual.
If you decide to submit a change of username, then you should be aware that the change applies globally across all language versions of Wikipedia. Your username will change on German Wikipedia as well. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 13:07, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Dear 331dot,
Thank you so much for clarifying in detail - this is very helpful. This means that entertaining the current company "Ingenhoven architects" account makes sense for the German Wikipedia project only, so a username change won't be necessary for this exact use.
I will create an internal note that this account is to be used for the German Wikipedia edits only (as long as this use stays compliant to the German Wikipedia project policy).
We will refrain from using the "Ingenhoven architects" account for the English Wikipedia project, so it actually makes sense to leave it blocked for English Wikipedia edits as it is in conflict with many of the policies.
Thanks again for your time and help!
Kind regards

@Ingenhoven architects: Your edits on German Wikipedia are still bound by their policies. The relevant documents you should review there are de:Wikipedia:Interessenkonflikt and de:Wikipedia:Bezahltes Schreiben. Danke. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 16:50, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
