Images I uploaded have been deleted

[edit]

I don't know where I've gone wrong with images upload

[edit]

I have uploaded 2 images to use in Sirvan Khosravi's page and 2 other pages about his upcoming album and a page for his single. I uploaded one yesterday and another one today and I used one in my sandbox and another in a page I'm trying to create. They had copyright but I did have permission from the author to use them. Now I've got an email that says a bot has deleted them. It doesn't say why though, so I would really really appreciate any help I can get. Thank you so much for reading this! P.s I really hope I did this right Soli. S. (talk) 18:15, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I see you uploaded File:Hobab (Bubble).jpeg and File:Monologue Album Cover.png. Could you please paste the text of the emails here, including the file names? Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 18:50, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much for replying! The first one is ((Monologue_Album_Cover.png)) and the other is ((Hobab_(Bubble).jpeg)).

These messages are just saying you can't use these files in your sandbox because they are non-free files. The files haven't been deleted - the bot just removed the links to the files. If your draft is published as an article, then you can add links from the article to the files. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 19:31, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm having issues with submitting an article I wrote for review. I moved it from my sandbox to a new title "Hobab (Bubble)" but it never gave me the option to submit it for review. I don't know how to submit it and Google only shows me results of people who have the blue submit button. Is there any text I should add to it? I would really appreciate any help. Thank youSoli. S. (talk) 10:38, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You moved your draft into the main encyclopedia. If you didn't intend to do that, and would prefer to submit it for a review(probably a good idea), it can be moved back. 331dot (talk) 10:45, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please help me with... Hi, I want to send an article I've created to be reviewed but I'm not sure how to do it and searching it doesn't seem to be leading anywhere. Is it just a matter of waiting for it to be reviewed as a newly created page or is there a text or a tag I need to add to it? I appreciate your help. Thank you Soli. S. (talk) 10:59, 6 August 2020 (UTC) Soli. S. (talk) 10:59, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You don't need to use "help me" tags anymore. As I said, you moved your draft to the main encyclopedia. If you didn't intend to do that, I can move it back and post the submission template to allow you to submit it for a review. If you would like that done, please say so. 331dot (talk) 11:01, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If I do move it myself should I move it to User or Draft?Soli. S. (talk) 11:17, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'll try to move it and add the submission template.Soli. S. (talk) 11:43, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
When trying to move to my user page it says that it already exists under this title. I'm really stuck
An admin has to move it since you are moving it to an existing title. One moment. 331dot (talk) 11:48, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've moved it to Draft:Hobab (Bubble) and added the submission tag. You just need to click "Submit your draft for review!" and save to submit it. 331dot (talk) 11:49, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much. Sorry for all the trouble. Soli. S. (talk) 11:51, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your User page

[edit]

The content on your User page mimics an article (sections, refs, etc.). This is not what a User page is for. See Wikipedia:User pages. Please change everything, or expect it to be deleted. David notMD (talk) 15:49, 3 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Oh! Thanks for pointing that out. I don't know how that happened. Actually there used be a redirect link there to an article which was moved. I was afraid to touch that link.Infojunkie8675 (talk) 16:52, 3 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I don't completely understand the submission process

[edit]

Hi, I'm sorry to bother anyone who reads this but I was wondering if you could tell me the difference between a page that has a tag that sends it to be reviewed (the yellow banner that says it might take 2 months for something to be reviewed) and an article that has been added to the main space right after it was created. Is one faster than the other? Because I just read that the ones which are added straight to the main space will be visible in the Page Curation section but do drafts which are waiting to be reviewed still show up there in Page Curation?

Submitting a draft to articles for creation (AfC; yellow banner) can be slow to be review (days to months). And are invisible to Google or Wikipedia searches on the topic. On the plus side, Accepted is great, and Declined comes with reasons the draft was not up to standards. Moving an article from draft to main space means it can be found via Wikipedia search but not Google (or other search engine) search until curated. Without an AfC runs risk of article being nominated for deletion or sent back to draft. David notMD (talk) 18:22, 3 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much for explaining that so clearly. I kept reading about it but I just couldn't find the answer! Thanks againInfojunkie8675 (talk) 19:06, 3 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
In AfC, there is no prejudice from the next reviewer against a draft being previously Declined as long as an effort is made to address the shortfalls identified by the first reviewer. David notMD (talk) 19:25, 3 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much for letting me know! I'm trying to find more resources as they come out so I can add them to my articles. It's actually really fun to do! :) Infojunkie8675 (talk) 11:10, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission at Articles for creation: Hobab (Bubble) (November 10)

Nightenbelle (talk) 18:29, 10 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have created this page https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Draft:Hobab_(Bubble), and the latest review is asking me to remove the YouTube link which I will do, but my issue is with their other request asking me to include a New York Times link, now that seems to me to be an unreasonable request. I have here an example, there is this page about a song Darenimo Iwanai which only has 2 reference links, one to a very short (one paragraph) article and another which is entirely in Japanese. I have included links from notable and reliable Persian news media, and any other sources that I could find which are already more than the page I just mentioned. I have complied with Wikipedia's guidelines, have respected other Wiki users and I have fixed every issue they have pointed out. I'm beginning to think that the issue here is that I am writing about an Iranian artist and that's why it is not being submitted. I can not think of any other reason. I find this to be a very unwelcoming place and not fair at all. Please do take a look at Darenimo Iwanai page to see where my frustration is coming from. I need to mention that I am in no way associated with this artist, I'm simply a fan. The reviewer mentioned advertisement, I do not gain any profit, in any shape or form from his work, I included those links so that reviewers could see that he has many followers and listeners and given that YouTube and Spotify don't require payment and the profits from those channels are minuscule I don't see how any of it counts as advertisement. People can find those sources in 2 clicks anyway. I have not broken guidelines, in the guidelines for biographies of living persons it mentions: "There are living persons who publish material about themselves, such as through press releases or personal websites. Such material may be used as a source only if:" it is not unduly self-serving; it does not involve claims about third parties; it does not involve claims about events not directly related to the subject; there is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity; and the article is not based primarily on such sources." I am not trying to vandalize Wikipedia. But if a musician can have a page in Wikipedia then his music should have pages too, especially since I have provided sources that are well-known in the artist's native language, which many other foreign artists do as well. I apologize for the long text.

Hi there, I frequent AfC pages to review, the issue here is not specifically having a NYT source, but meeting the notability criteria of WP:NSONG. Darenimo Iwanai achieves this by the referenced claim (yes albeit in Japanese) that the song hit #3 in a non-trivial national chart. As your subject has not, they are relying off the first sentence of that page, needing to prove that

Songs and singles are probably notable if they have been the subject of multiple, non-trivial published works whose sources are independent of the artist and label.

We are not trying to deliberately hamper you, however there is a notability standard every subject on Wikipedia needs to meet in order to qualify for an article. Notability is not inherited because the subject's creator is. Please ping me if you're responding to me here with {{ping|IVORK}} — IVORK Talk 21:41, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
