Good choice! There is quite a lot on the watch in Beattie, Policing and Prosecution. Useful would be Reynolds, Before the Bobbies; we don't have it - look through Interlibrary loan?

You could also collaborate usefully with Bianca Maria Pedica and irene Pucci, who are working in  Defoe pamphlets which make proposals about the watch.

Paul Griffiths in Lost Londons has a section on "Watching". It mainly concerns the 16th-17th centuries but still could be useful. I have a copy and on Monday can lend it to you to takes notes on the relavant section. --Jfclegg (talk) 17:55, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
