Welcome!

Hello, Immason1, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on UserJc1231312/sandbox requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from UserJc1231312/sandbox, a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. You were probably trying to get to User:Jc1231312/sandbox, with the colon (:) after "User". But that page belongs to User:Jc1231312 and you shouldn't make any edits to it without that user's permission. Largoplazo (talk) 16:27, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Creating articles in your userspace

[edit]

Hi, you can create subpages in your userspace, but you must begin the title with User:Immason1. Please note the colon between User and your account name. You created a sandbox page in mainspace because you didn't include the colon. It's a common error. Happy editing! Schazjmd (talk) 16:29, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

But also this user wasn't using their own user name! They were trying to write on another user's page. Largoplazo (talk) 16:30, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I totally missed that, Largoplazo, how strange... Schazjmd (talk) 16:36, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I see they're in the same Wiki Ed program. Immason1, your sandbox is at User:Immason1/sandbox. Largoplazo (talk) 17:07, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, that explains it. Largoplazo, how do you track down Wiki Ed associations? (Just so I know for the future) Schazjmd (talk) 17:11, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
See the tag at the top of this page. :-) I clicked the link, and chose "Students" from the menu at the top of the destination page and found Jc1231312 on the list. Largoplazo (talk) 17:21, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Largoplazo Hi, I am in the same group project with Jc1231312, so we were trying to do the work together on his sandbox.
Ok, that's cool. Did you find it? Largoplazo (talk) 20:58, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
