Hello, Ijcoffin. You have new messages at User:Chevymontecarlo#thanks.21.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

I replied to your query on my talk page. Please don't forget to sign your posts on talk pages like this by typing the four tildes (~~~~) or by using the template, which you can click, located at the bottom of the edit window near the save button. Chevymontecarlo 12:28, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I saw your message on Chevymontecarlo's talk page, and I've tried to improve the article a bit.

  • Picture - I tried hard to find one that we could use, but I couldn't see an acceptable copyright status; the 1907 picture is probably from a postcard, and if we could show that it was actually published back in 1907, we could use it as public domain based on age. However, I can't find evidence it was...and the publication date is the essential factor; if it was not actually published until much later, we can't claim public domain; see Commons:Commons:Public domain#Ordinary copyright. Copyright is complex; I doubt we can claim Fair-use, because it is possible that a free alternative exists. In conclusion...I doubt we can use a picture, unless we can get more evidence of its copyright status or explicit permission. We might have to settle for the external link. See also Wikipedia:Finding images tutorial.
  • References - it would help if you could add more inline references - if you put a ref on the end of each sentence, it is clear where each fact comes from. You can use one reference many times, as a 'named reference';
Chzz was born in 1837. <ref name=MyBook>
"The book of Chzz", Aardvark Books, 2009.
</ref>

Chzz lives in Footown.<ref name=MyBook/>

Note that the second usage has a / (and no closing ref tag). Please see user:chzz/demo/namedref to see the result.
Hope that helps a bit.  Chzz  ►  04:29, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome and introduction

Hi, Ijcoffin. This is NOT some automated message...it's from a real person. You can talk to me right now. Welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've just joined, and wanted to give you a few tips to get you started. If you have any questions, please talk to us. The tips below should help you to get started. Best of luck!  Chzz  ►  04:29, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

ようこそ
  • You don't need to read anything - anybody can edit; just go to an article and edit it. Be Bold, but please don't put silly stuff in - it will be removed very quickly, and will annoy people.
  • Ask for help. Talk to us live, or edit this page, put {{helpme}} and describe what help you need. Someone will reply very quickly - usually within a few minutes.
  • Edit existing articles, before you make your own. Look at some subjects that you know about, and see if you can make them a bit better. For example, Wikipedia:Cleanup#2009.
  • When you're ready, read about Your first article. It should be about something well-known, and it will need references.

Good luck with editing; please drop me a line some time on my own talk page.

There's lots of information below. Once again, welcome to the fantastic world of Wikipedia!
