Replaceable fair use Image:Mcggin fat.jpg

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Mcggin fat.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. High on a tree (talk) 03:30, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock request

[edit]

{{unblock|i was blocked because my username is supposedly a puppet for some user, jon awbrey, which i have never heard of. is there any reason i'm still blocked? is there any way to show i'm not this user? please unblock, as i'm trying to update the susan haack entry}}

I have asked the blocking admin, JzG (talk · contribs), for some additional info on the block. Cirt (talk) 17:58, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good. I found some old discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive134#User:Jon Awbrey project spam, but we should wait to hear from Guy on the full details. Idiothek, please be patient while we investigate the situation. — Satori Son 18:26, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, I have been looking over yours and Jon Awbrey's edit history, and it seems that the two of you have some similar editing patterns. While we are waiting for a response from Guy, the admin that issued the block, can you answer a question for us? Why did it take 11 months for you to request an unblock? Generally most people notice within a few days that they have been blocked. What have you done in the intervening year? --Jayron32.talk.contribs 18:32, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
i haven't felt the need to edit any pages, that's all. today i noticed when i tried to edit susan haack's page. i know she's coming out with a new book, i wanted to include the information, and i didn't see it on there. -idiothek
I am familiar with Jon Awbrey and this user doesn't seem very similar. I'd like to have heard from Guy but he last edited over a week ago and this user deserves an answer, especially after such a long time being blocked without complaint. At worst, if this is a Jon Awbrey sock, it has engaged in none of the sophist ranting that led to Awbrey's ban; in the ban discussion there is arguably significant support for Awbrey's article contributions. So, I've unblocked. Mangojuicetalk 02:48, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
