A tag has been placed on The African American Channel requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. My reply

[edit]

G'day Ideamagnet, I got your message on my talk page. It makes it easier for me to reply if you sign your messages with four tildes please. Respectfully I will not remove the CSD tag I placed on your article. You need to put the {{hangon}} tag underneath my speedy tag. That will let admin know you are contesting the speedy deletion. You still need to get to work on the article to add references and establish some notability. As it is the article is a definite candidate for speedy deletion. [edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from articles that you have created yourself, as you did with The African American Channel. If you do not believe the article should be deleted, then please place {{hangon}} on the page (please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag) and make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. Sting_au Talk 05:23, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replying again

[edit]

G'day again Ideamagnet, I can see from what you wrote on my talk page that you are upset. I can however assure you that my tagging the article CSD had nothing to do with any issue of race. I don't care if people are black, white or brindle. We are all just people. I tagged the article because it fails to indicate the importance or significance of the subject. I can appreciate that you are saying it IS important but your article needs to demonstrate that. You still need to post a message to the articles talk page Talk:The African American Channel about why the article should not be deleted. Unless you do this an Admin may still come along and delete your article. They may also decide that the article subject does indeed have notability and remove the CSD tag I placed there. I strongly suggest you post a message to the article talk page and present your case. Cheers, Sting_au Talk 06:43, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.
