Merger discussion for Lake Arrowhead, Lathrop, Missouri
[edit]An article that you have been involved in editing—Lake Arrowhead, Lathrop, Missouri—has been proposed for merging with another article. If you are interested, please participate in the merger discussion. Thank you. Ken Gallager (talk) 14:35, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Ken Gallager, all I did was a drive-by AWB edit, so I'm not interested in joining in the discussion. However, I'm quite sympathetic to the issue of "How many people in the history should I notify?" and "How do I inform people there's a discussion going on without violating the canvassing guidelines?", so Thank you for notifying me anyways. I dream of horses (Contribs) Please notify me if replying off my talk page. Thank you. 20:43, 1 June 2021 (UTC)

A message from Kreutzbruder
[edit]Concern regarding Draft:Noel Francis Newsome:
Hi I dream of horses, Thanks for your message.
The precise nature of your concern about the above draft entry is not clear, although it could be that it is still not sufficiently neutral. That can still be fixed.
If, on the other hand it is the contents that are of concern, it might be helpful if I explain some background. As the text explains, Newsome occupied one of the most influential positions at the British Broadcasting Corporation in the UK during the period 1940-1945, and was one of the chief architects of the propaganda war against Nazi Germany. In my opinion he therefore has a rightful place in Wikipedia.
The original sources of information from which I worked were a draft text written by one of Newsome's daughters (by his third marriage), Nicola (since deceased), and another daughter (by his second marriage), Penelope (also recently deceased), plus his autobiography, as well as a host of other published works. Another reliable source is his second wife, Sheila Grant Duff, an internationally respected journalist who specialised in Czechoslovak affairs during the 1930s and 1940s, and who wrote the introduction to his autobiography. She too was employed by the BBC at the same time as Newsome.
It is clear from the autobiography that Newsome encountered fierce opposition from his peers, who tried to impose their personal view on the day to day policy of the propaganda war, but that he was strongly defended by his immediate superior, Ivone Kirkpatrick, this in spite of several cases of insubordination with respect to the higher authorities. One of the obstacles to obtaining further information about him is the BBC itself, which, in my experience, has refused to share any information for publication in Wikipedia.
If you can suggest a means whereby this draft text can be opened to a wider audience for refereeing or correction, I would warmly welcome it.
Thank you I dream of Horses.
