Welcome!
[edit]Hello, IHarbonaut, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.
To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)
In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

- Hi,
- I was inspired to write this article after I used the new chatgpt search engine and searched my own name. This is the text that was produced and I thought it objective enough to start a Wikipedia page. Is there anything I can do to make this text acceptable? If the page gets deleted from Wikipedia then I'm OK with that. I won't try to write another. IHarbonaut (talk) 22:26, 3 November 2024 (UTC)
- Ah, well that introduces a new issue, because unedited AI text should not be added to Wikipedia. Chatbots have a tendency to use flowery, non-neutral language and to straightforwardly fabricate information (though in this case I'm sure you'd have noticed if that had occurred).
- There isn't a strict rule against submitting an article about yourself, so if you really want to do so, you can. You'd need to comply with the disclosures in the conflict of interest policy. To increase your chances of having the article accepted, the AI-generated text would need to be edited significantly or rewritten: it would need to be made more neutral, avoiding that kind of promotional language that ChatGPT loves so much; it would also need to be backed up by reliable sources, both to verify the information and to prove the notability of the subject (by Wikipedia's metric). It's often a good idea to go find those reliable sources first and then write the article from them, rather than the other way around. If this is something you'd like to try, I'd recommend this page on writing your first article which contains various useful tips. Otherwise, there are lots of other ways to contribute to Wikipedia, if you'd be interested. AntiDionysius (talk) 22:36, 3 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi,
- Ok I'm rewriting the article and I feel it's more in line with other wikipedia articles. I hope you agree. IHarbonaut (talk) 15:08, 4 November 2024 (UTC)
