[edit]Hi IDidThisForSchool! (excellent username btw) Great to see that you've gotten started on Wikipedia! Your work here will make a visible contribution to information on developmental psychology that the whole world can access. Any questions, just ask. --Mozucat (talk) 21:41, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for the welcome Mozucat! My group is currently working on editing the neurotransmitter page. It seems to already contain a lot of information, so it looks like we may be focusing on cleaning the page up and updating any information that may need revising. I'm sure that we'll be in touch as the semester progresses. Take care and talk soon!--IDidThisForSchool (talk) 14:40, 22 October 2014 (UTC)
Linking to users
[edit]I notice that you link to people's usernames in your responses. That's good, but the actual link has to go to User:Username, not just Username, for it to work. You can make it display without the "User:" part by using [[User:Username|Username]]
or {{u|Username}}
. Both result in: Username. Anon126 (notify me of responses! / talk / contribs) 18:43, 23 October 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for the feedback, Anon126!--IDidThisForSchool (talk) 12:19, 27 October 2014 (UTC)
Neurotransmitter Edits -- Update
[edit]Yo -- @Ve-hunter-511:, @Exotic necii:, @Arista2014:, @Ziggapedia92:! I've ben doing some full-out reorg of the page. I realized from the table of contents that the information was a bit 'all over the shop' and had nothing but sections. I edited the contents to include subsections where appropriate and added some new info, along with some minor edits. Check it out.--IDidThisForSchool (talk) 20:51, 29 October 2014 (UTC)
Hello, IDidThisForSchool! Welcome to Wikipedia! It appears that you are here to participate in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we highly encourage you to go through our training page that's specifically created and catered for students such as yourself:
If you need help, check out Wikipedia's page for questions. You can also ask me by visiting my user talk page and leaving a message, or you can ask your question on this page by editing it and placing {{Help me}}
before your question. Please make sure that you sign your messages on discussion pages, which is done by entering four tildes (~~~~) at the very end of it; this will automatically insert your username and the date. I also highly recommend that you review the advice for students page.
Before you create an article, make sure that you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.
Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, and if your class doesn't already have one, please tell your instructor about creating one. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}}
on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know that the article is a subject of an educational assignment as well as aid your communication with them.
Here are some more pages that you might find helpful:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page (editing policy)
- Introduction to Wikipedia
- Help pages index
- Visual editor tutorial
- Wikitext tutorial (if you're choosing to edit pages using the Wikitext source code instead of the VisualEditor)
- Wikitext cheatsheet
While editing:
- Maintain a neutral point of view – this is one of Wikipedia's core policies.
- Be bold, but do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject; doing so will result in your account or IP being blocked from editing.
- Respect copyrights – do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
- No edit warring or abuse of multiple accounts.
- Provide reliable sources to the content you add. If you are adding biomedical information, please follow this guideline.
- Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page and follow Wikipedia's Biography of Living Persons policy. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced with multiple reliable sources.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay with us as a member of the community - even after your assignment is finished. Your time, energy, and your contributions will be highly valued and appreciated among us.

- @Tryptofish: -- thank you for the advice! The course page was indeed setup by our professor, and I will make sure to let other members know that we are working on our page as part of an academic assignment. Again, thank you, and see you around!--IDidThisForSchool (talk) 19:11, 5 November 2014 (UTC)
- Hi, your edit at Neurotransmitter included a too-long quotation. Please keep quotations short. I've paraphrased it to avoid a copyright violation.LeadSongDog come howl! 18:47, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
- Hi LeadSong Dog. Thank you for your feedback. However, we were informed that we could in fact add quotations as long as we ensured to enclose them within quotation marks, as well as the appropriate references. The paraphrase looks good, but we weren't informed on any limit on quotation lengths. Again, thanks for the feedback and please let us know if there is anything else. --IDidThisForSchool (talk) 14:24, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
- As a U.S. based organization WP is bound by that country's copyright laws. The Fair Use doctrine allows limited quotation from sources under certain constraints. WP:Quotation gives some guidance on using WP:NONFREE sources in Wikipedia. LeadSongDog come howl! 05:09, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
