Good references. Good idea for subject!

A few suggestions:

Try to explain the terms that you are using or at the very least link them out to the relevant article. For example, you state that "The current and most widely accepted model revolves around the LCR as a highly accessible region..." -- but what is this region -- the average reader would not know that you are referring to DNA.

Your first sentence doesn't contain much actual information except to say that there has been a lot of research done; this could be said a lot more succinctly, or even as the start of the next sentence (e.g. The LCR has been the subject of intense study over the past 3 decades; the current and most widely accepted model...).
