Age category

Hello! If you are receiving this message, that means that your user page is in a specific year category. Per a recent user-category per deletion, all specific year categories are to be deleted. If you wish to continue using year categories, you have two options:

• Using an age group category, such as Category:Wikipedians in their 30s
• Using a decade category, such as Category:Wikipedians born in the 1970s.

In my edit I removed two redlinks and an advert; Folklore Village was one of the redlinks; the advert was one of the other entries. Once the Folklore Village article is in place we can put a link back on the FV page. Brain Gym

I checked the diff - the only changes were the removal of a few words in a way that subtracted meaning, and the removal of five paragraphs of concise well-cited criticism. Help with submitting information

Thanks for getting into contact with me, I'm racking my absolute brain trying to figure out how to use Wikipedia correctly! Infact, it took me a good half an hour to realize the + symbol at the top of the page allowed me to do this. I'll be highly embarassed if I've done it wrong now.

I need help adding information. I'd never add false information and I would always provide a valid source, I just don't know how to provide the source. Do I simply copy and paste the link to the publication that verifies what I have submit? Or is it more complex than that? Call me stupid (well, try not to!) but I couldn't see anywhere else to add the source when I edited the page. The reason I am so concerned I have done it wrong is because pages with extensive information have boxes like this [2] to the top right of the finished paragraph which then links to the source. I don't know how to do that!

:) Don't worry, you'll get the hang of the basics quite quickly. You've added your comment to my talk page properly, but even if you hadn't, it's no big deal. If you mess the formatting up, or even if you somehow mess the whole page up, it can easily be fixed. You might want to read our be bold guideline. People do get banned for messing with wikipedia, but only if it's persistent, and only if it's clear that it's malicious, rather than accidental. Everyone starts as a beginner.

The long answer to your question on referencing can be found at our Wikipedia:Citing sources page. The short answer is that on most pages if you put your link between "ref" tags it'll appear in the references section at the bottom, all automatically done properly. You can also use the cite web template for a good reference to a web page. As an example, I'll reference this sentence with a pointless link to my website. If you edit this section you'll see how it's done.

I've found that a useful way to learn how to do these things is to have a go, and add the page I've edited to my watchlist so that if someone comes along later and fixes my edits I can see what I got wrong. Pretty much, yes. If you put colons at the start of the line it indents - that way it's easy to see when text changes from your writing to mine. I've reformatted this section to how it should be so you can see. Also (to nitpick), leave your signature on the same line as the rest of your comment. :) You're not driving me insane. You messed up a few things, which people have fixed for you - if you look at the history of the page you can see what they've changed. If you want any help understanding the changes they've made, ask me. Also, don't forget to sign your messages, and be careful not to remove stuff from talk pages when you're adding your comments. Could you explain to me, how to add a resources section? I just created the Cheyenne Tozzi page, and like others I have previously created, I don't know how to add the resources correctly. I'm under the impression that the rest (or at least the majority) of what I have submit is done correctly. I hope I'm getting the hang of it. All you need to do is put in a section heading called "References", and then on the next line put <references />. A few days back I created an example one here so you could see how it works - if you just edit this section you'll see it in action.

The other thing you could usefully do is add {{uncategorized}} to the bottom of a new article - that way another editor can add it to the right category for you. --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 09:54, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Further to your removal of my comment on the Enterprise page, I have not written anything that is not true and have plenty of photographic evidence to back it up. What I wrote was not vandalism, it is fact, it is the culmination of having Enterprise employees in my home for the past 5 months fitting a kitchen, yes a kitchen! Suggesting speedy deletion of Michael Crafter

The article was filled with absolute nonsense and the only piece of information that does make sense has no source and according to the official website of the band he is supposedly in, he's not listed as a member. Perhaps a previous member, but still, obviously not a notable person and therefore shouldn't be added to Wikipedia.
