Welcome!

Hello, Hudson11377, and welcome to Wikipedia! I have noticed that you are fairly new! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, your recent discussion with another editor does not conform to Wikipedia's policy on Civility towards other editors. The focus in any dispute should be on edits and never editors.

There's a page about the Civility policy that has tips on how to interact with other editors. If issues continue, you may need to look into Dispute Resolution.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!  the panda ɛˢˡ” 11:37, 23 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You really don't seem to understand...

[edit]

...you're not going to be able to force your images into these articles now that I've objected to them (as have other editors). Your only recourse is to discuss them on the articles' talk pages. That's really the bottom line. BMK (talk) 10:21, 23 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You really have to understand that it's not about me. Look at the History of the article Grand Central Terminal and you'll see the editor Hertz1888 undoing your latest attempt to force your image into it, with the edit summary "no consensus" and advising you to follow WP:BRD, as I have been doing. This is the way we do things here. BMK (talk) 10:26, 23 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This is your only warning

[edit]

Do not delete anything from my talk page again. BMK (talk) 10:32, 23 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest you read WP:HARASSMENT before claiming that someone is harassing you. BMK has done nothing but explain policy to you. Also, per WP:TPO, you shouldn't be reverting another user's talk page under normal circumstances. I suggest you take BMK's advice and start discussing your proposed changes on the relevant talk pages. Ishdarian 10:40, 23 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Please do not change images on any of the New York area articles without gaining consensus on the articles Talk page. Once a edit has been reversed, such as your edit to the Chrysler Building lede image, do not revert again as this will be considered edit warring and may be subject to a block. As I see it, editors have tried to explain Wikipedia policy to you and have been ignored with claims of harassment. Please read WP:HARASSMENT before making such claims. It is also against policy to delete contributions to another editors Talk page. Editors are here to help with Wikipedia conventions. Thank you, David J Johnson (talk) 17:29, 23 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Hudson11377,

Wikipedia has a interesting learning curve, but its a lot like a big sand box, you get no welcome committee and you will run into tough guys like User:Beyond My Ken/thoughts from time to time, don't let it bother you and do not be afraid to reach out to others, learn about how to communicate and use talk pages to gain some confidence rather then allowing the bully's that are contributors here to dissuade you from participating. You will find that while some people give to Wikipedia, others seem to enjoy taking/controlling the site, and if try to engage them you are subjected to a state of war, its simply not worth it, move on and use the talk pages when you run across them.

It was clear to me that you simply don't understand a lot of this, slow down, read some of the links about the site at the top of this page, and use the adventure to help fill in some gaps in your ability to edit, most of all, don't let the past, keep you from understanding this site, in the future.

As a new user and contributor, complete the adventure above, and I suggest that to learn both the syntax as well as what others may challenge start first by uploading your proposed image into commons. Upon the talk pages for the target for your new image, place the thumbnail for the image and then propose that a consensus be obtained for its use in the page. After you have created a reputation you will be more readily accepted in contributing to pages without that step, but to avoid the BMK's of the site it might be a good way to start and eliminate the aggravation other users enjoy creating. If you have a quality image, and are looking for opinion please reach out via my talk page and I will give you my honest opinion.

The "Adventure" above is helpful in understanding this environment with greater detail. Cheers! talk→ WPPilot  21:28, 23 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@WPPilot: Please be careful about giving poor information to newbie editors. Three other editors have pointed out to Hudson 11377 that I was doing nothing more than telling them about policy and about the way things work on Wikipedia. That has nothing whatsoever to do with our previous disputes, which basically hinged on your unwillingness to accept WP:CONSENSUS when it was reached. I certainly hope that you do not counsel Hudson11377 to do the same, as it will make things tough going for them here if they aren't willing to follow policies and well-established behavioral norms. BMK (talk) 22:09, 23 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@BMK that is accurate and insightful info for this user, my main objective is to get the user to take the adventure, slow down and learn about how WE operate. As far as users, you are without question the most abrasive user that I have ever encountered. That being said I have in no way supported this user on any contribution or done anything other then provide a pat on the pack, as you would a fighter that just lost his first round :) and suggested he do some more training first, then upload his photos to Wikipedia commons and, on the talk pages of the pages he is interested in placing that image, asking others for a consensus.
I directed him to User:Beyond My Ken/thoughts as you have some pretty random "public Wikipedia thoughts" that might help him understand that he is Not Dr. Phil, and that your depth is not worth taking on. What am I missing here BMK?talk→ WPPilot  22:17, 23 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
What you are "missing", is that it's hardly a good idea with a new editor who's already a bit resistant to the ins and out of Wikipedia, to mix an invitation to the "Adventure" (which I've never looked into, but which I'm sure is helpful to new users) with negative characterizations of other editors who are also trying to help. Calling me a "tough guy" and referring immediately after to "bully's" ("bullies", actually) trying to "dissuade you from participating" and attempting to "control" Wikipedia is not helpful, as well as skirting the edge of WP:NPA. BMK (talk) 22:33, 23 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Not to mention "you are without question the most abrasive user that I have ever encountered." You are certainly entitled to that opinion, but you're not entitled to express it at the drop of a hat in an irrelevant situation. Please stop making these personal attacks, and please do not alter your comments after I have responded to them. BMK (talk) 22:41, 23 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
My suggestion here is that an uninvolved admin hat this discussion between WPP and myself, which can hardly be helpful to Hudson11377, and leave open the invitation to the Adventure, sans personal characterizations. BMK (talk) 22:43, 23 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That was a simple edit conflict, BMK, I will hat it if it makes you feel better.talk→ WPPilot  22:54, 23 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
