Kojonup, Western Australia
[edit]I reverted your three edits to the Kojonup, Western Australia, which were probably made in good faith but lacked in constructiveness. When adding a population figure to an article it really needs a Wikipedia:Reliable sources, especially when the figure is about twice as high as the last Australian census in 2021 quoted. It is difficult to see how Kojonup's population has grown that much in such a short time, but if it indeed has, a source shouldn't be hard to find. The other thing is that I could not make any sense out of the sentence of "Kojonup is located between Perth and Albany, on the recently explained Albany Highway". How has the Albany Highway been recently explained? feel free to re-add if you can clarify and source these statements. Calistemon (talk) 00:36, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, I am so sorry for that. The websites I have been getting these from could be fake. I will answer your questions:
- I was looking around Wikipedia for an article to edit and found the Kojonup article, in which I live. I started editing, but surprisingly I didn’t even know my own town’s population, therefore leading me to search it up. I found this site and assumed the population was accurate as it was coming from a built-up site. Therefore, I pasted it into the article. I now realise that was the Shire of Kojonup’s population. I’m so sorry.
- For the “recently explained Albany Highway” thing, I noticed that Albany Highway was already mentioned earlier in the article. I accept I should have worded it differently.
- Thank you for your time, and I apologise once again. HtialilwW (talk) 00:55, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- I can't answer on the reliability of the website but the population figure on it is for the whole Shire of Kojonup, not just the town of Kojonup, Western Australia, two entities with different sizes and population figures. That is why the number is much higher. Calistemon (talk) 01:11, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- I had already explained that, and from my use I don’t think it’s accurate seeing as it’s a German website. HtialilwW (talk) 01:14, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, you did, I missed that one. The website not being of English origin doesn't matter, there is lots of non-English reliable sources, but I wouldn't be keen to use that one. The most reliable source for population figures of Australia is the most recent Australian Census, 2021, which is used in the infobox of the article. But even there, it can be confusing: There is multiple figures for Kojonup, apart from the shire. There is the locality, which has a population of 1,157, and there is the urban centre, which has smaller boundaries and has a population of 878. Calistemon (talk) 01:32, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- My bad, I didn’t know there was a shire for Kojonup. Thank you. HtialilwW (talk) 03:31, 15 December 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for your contributions to Korotogo. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources and it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
