File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Julie sweet shot.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. — neuro(talk) 17:19, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Julie sweet shot.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 17:19, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Julie Krone.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. A tag has been placed on File:Julie Krone Jockey.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. It is the exact photo published in 1991 on Julie Krone Star Trading Card #117, seen for example here. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Request reason:

Dear Editors: I appreciate the opportunity to explain my error in uploading the photograph in question. At the time I was new to the editing and uploading process -- which I realize is not an excuse for violation of posting guidelines -- and the photograph uploaded was originally taken and owned by a family member who gave permission for its use. However, I was unaware that the photograph had also been used commercially, thereby requiring a specific set of rules to be followed for its use on a Wikipedia page -- in this case a page about my wife, Julie Krone. I take full responsibility for the error and since then I have been carefully studying the Wikipedia editing guidelines so I do not make such an error again, if my editing privileges are restored. Thank you for your consideration. Hovdey (talk) 19:00, 17 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

Thanks for your explanation and agreeing to follow Wikipedia editing rules. I am unblocking the account and restoring all editing privileges. CactusWriter (talk) 19:11, 17 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict-of-interest Editing

[edit]

Hovdey, it must also be noted that Wikipedia has definite rules concerning conflict-of-interest editing. Because of your relationship with the subject at Julie Krone, your edits on that page (or any related pages to the subject) are strongly discouraged. Instead, you can propose changes on the article talk page by using the {{request edit}} template. (These proposals may or may not be acted upon.) Or you can also suggest changes on the conflict-of-interest noticeboard. For a more complete explanation, please read WP:COI. If you have any questions, please ask. Good luck with your editing. A belated welcome!

[edit]
Sorry for the belated welcome, but the cookies are still warm!

Here's wishing you a belated welcome to Wikipedia, Hovdey. I see that you've already been around a while and wanted to thank you for your contributions. Though you seem to have been successful in finding your way around, you may benefit from following some of the links below, which help editors get the most out of Wikipedia:

Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page, consult Wikipedia:Questions, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there.

Again, welcome! Montanabw(talk) 21:40, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Also, For what it's worth, I'm offering you a helping hand around here if you want one. I'm an active member of WikiProject Horse racing and WikiProject equine and have done a significant amount of work on biographies of living persons as well, so I know the ropes and can lend you a hand as you navigate the whitewater rapids of Wikipedia. (FWIW, I was "lead" editor on American Pharoah and Ahmed Zayat this year; last year I led editing efforts on Rosie Napravnik, California Chrome, Art Sherman and DAP Racing. I've also helped some people in a similar "COI" situation to yours with articles such as Frank Lovato, Jr. and Equicizer. Montanabw(talk) 21:49, 19 November 2015 (UTC)) [reply]
