Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. At least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to George Melly, was not constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Please refrain substituting external links your own websites. These contravene English Wikipedia's official policy regarding advertising, verifiability, biographies of living persons, neutrality and avoiding original research. Self-published third-party sources and self-advertising are unacceptable.

If you continue to add links to your own sites they will be removed in accordance with the policy on vandalism and you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia.

George Melly Discussion

[edit]

I have removed your contribution from Talk:George Melly and I invite you to re-submit your comments in accordance with the talk page guidelines. It is not helpful to delete previous discussions and such behaviour may be considered as vandalism and treated accordingly. Obiskobilob 08:55, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We notice that you Obiskobilob have intentionally, created a status for the .net website without providing an equal and fair entry for georgemelly.com. Likewise you have chosen to be judge and jury . We would request that you removed the word "Forum" from the link and, at least, demonstrate a degree of respect for the original domain by ensuring that our link is first. In respect of the forum, a membership of 10 is hardly justification for its prominence! Houseofgraham 11:32, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • If you are not sure how to contribute to Wikipedia take time to inform yourself. Here is a good place to start.
  • Wikipedia is not about fairness to contributors. My actions are not based on any personal bias but on the policies and expectations of Wikipedia.
  • Judge & Jury ! - the Law is that of Wikipedia. It could be me, or it could be one of the other many thousands of contributors. Please re-read the guidelines if you have any doubts.
  • Wikipedia is not about competition. (And I am not your competitor.) You refer to "a one man campaign to promote the other website" - I fail to see this but it looks more like a one man campaign to promote House of Graham. Please desist for all the reasons given above.
  • Having examined both sites in question, it is clear that one is essentially a forum with a front page and the other is an advertising site containing links to other sites but no forum, so the distinction is valid and verifiable by anyone who examines the sites. This can be reviewed if the position changes.
  • References to Digby Fairweather would be more appropriate as contributions to the article on Digby Fairweather but please bear in mind that that page is also subject to the policy on biographies of living persons. Obiskobilob 15:17, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

At no time have I denigrated or expressed any personal opinion about the quality your website. It is advisable to bear in mind the groundrules when contributing to Wikipedia and when communicating with other contributors. Please refrain from making unfounded accusations. An apology from you would not be inappropriate.

Additionally, with regard the the articles on George Melly and Digby Fairweather it seems that you, as owner of promotional websites relating to these musicians, stand in a conflict of interest. Obiskobilob 01:01, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
