Standard for all of Wikipedia should be at LEAST soft metric. please consider that.
(User Nemyn): The international standard (SI) is metric for all international communications. Only three countries, the United States, Myanmar, and Liberia still use any other system of measurement. English measurements such as furlongs, hogsheads, etc appear inappropriate, from my perspective. They are also less useful for conversion. The population of the United States is not quite 300 million people- the number of English speaking peoples worldwide is 1.9 BILLION. That is to say, the U.S. constitutes some 15.7% of all English speakers. If its useful, here are a couple of pages/visuals for reference: http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Image:Metric_system.png (English-system using regions worldwide marked in red), and http://anthro.palomar.edu/language/English_speaking.htm. As you can see, there are 105 English speaking countries which might benefit from wikipedia and 3 of them use the English system. As for the population of wikipedians, while a number of internet users come from the United States, Wikipedia also has a lot of users from the UK and other places. Also, not all people of the United States use english measurement.

License tagging for Image:07element.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:07element.JPG. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Unspecified source for Image:104krbe1.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:104krbe1.JPG. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 14:09, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Image:ElementSC.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:ElementSC.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Roguegeek (talk) 03:30, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

Civility
[edit]This warning is concerning the comments you made here. It is important to keep a cool head, especially when responding to comments against you or your edits. Personal attacks and disruptive comments only escalate a situation; please keep calm and remember that action can be taken against other parties if necessary. Attacking another user back can only satisfy trolls or anger contributors and leads to general bad feeling. Please try to remain civil with your comments. Thanks! - I have no idea why you focus on my profile so much; as it only took a mere few hours to hunt my remark down, hence I support the use of the phrase "stalking my profile". Second, in all fairless, it was more of a sarcastic agreement about the perception that your login name reveals, which I plainly stated "I agreed with", adding nothing more or no less to the claim you support. No name calling or profanities occured other than the name which you created for yourself out of your own free will. If anything, it was meant to by taken lightly facetious for the other Wikipedian readers to understand that I am no longer adding images, as it seems I still don't understand how to upload correctly to Wikipedia and do to your unreasonable involvement with my Wikipedia edits and uploads, I'd rather just avoid it now, as the enjoyment has waned. My head is as cool as ice; always has and always will be. I suggest you look else where to search for a troll or angry contributers.Pumapayam 20:22, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Fair use problem with Image:104krbe1.JPG
[edit]I notice you uploaded the image Image:104krbe1.JPG with the {{logo}} fair use image tag. However, it appears that this tag is totally unrelated to the content of the image, and as a result it may qualify for speedy deletion. Image:104krbe1.JPG has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.
If you can find a valid tag that expresses why Image:104krbe1.JPG can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the {{logo}} tag that you have placed on it with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use in|article name that the image is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the image. If the image has been deleted, you can reupload it but please ensure you place the correct tag on it. However, you must not remove the speedy deletion notice. Thank you, and please feel free to continue contributing to Wikipedia. NMajdan•talk 16:12, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
