Copy-and-paste page moves

[edit]

Hello, HooshArted. Concerning your contribution, James Lanman (senator), a page move cannot be done by simply copying and pasting the contents of a page into a new location, as such a process does not transfer the page's edit history and therefore violates the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL). As a violation of the page move process, James Lanman (senator) needs to be temporarily deleted under the speedy deletion criteria so that the page you intended to move may be properly moved in a way that will preserve its edit history. James Lanman (senator) has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message. If not, please refrain from editing either the page you intended to move or James Lanman (senator) until the latter has been deleted according to Wikipedia's speedy criterion G6 (non-controversial housekeeping).

If you did not intend to make a page move, then please insert the {{hangon}} tag right below the {{db-copypaste}} tag in James Lanman (senator) and state your intentions on Talk:James Lanman (senator). An administrator will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do. Thank you for your contributions.  Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 02:06, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Asphalt Roads requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article has never existed, has been deleted or is eligible for deletion itself. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for music.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. Porturology (talk) 02:41, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop removing speedy deletion notices from pages that you have created yourself. If you continue, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Porturology (talk) 02:46, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

unintentional bro, sorry. Please stop deleting my work. It is relevant and follows Wikipedia's guidelines for notability. HooshArted (talk) 03:00, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Musicians

[edit]

Generally inclusion in Wikipedia relies on independent and verifiable evidence of notability. The criteria for this can be found at wp:band Porturology (talk) 02:48, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I read the independent and verifiable evidence of notability, and I don't see how the musician shouldn't be included on Wikipedia? HooshArted (talk) 03:01, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Musicians

[edit]

What criteria does James Lanman reach under wp:band? If he does reach one of the criteria then he will be included in Wikipedia under an article that could be called, for example, James Lanman (Musician). Such an article will not be deleted if there is clear and verifiable independent evidence that one of the criteria has been met. A US senator (no matter how dead) is always going to have priority in page name over a You Tube musician. Porturology (talk) 03:02, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Number 9 under Criteria for musicians and ensembles. And Number 1 under Criteria for composers. HooshArted (talk) 03:07, 1 August 2009 (UTC) That's great - all you have to do is make the article with those points. Cheers Porturology (talk) 03:09, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to have to disagree with what you said about a dead US Senator... The purpose of a wikipedia page is so that people can find relevant information. I don't think a dead senator will be making any news today, so why would that be the preferred page? The page is a stub as well, with no information other than the fact that he was a senator and a lawyer. How do I go about getting the page moved? HooshArted (talk) 03:15, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The dead senator is WP:Notable under WP:BIO. It's not about if they're going to be in the news or not. Toddst1 (talk) 13:33, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on James Lanman (musician) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

A tag has been placed on James Lanman (musician), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article that does not provide sufficient context to identify its subject. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please quit creating this article. It was deleted for a reason. If you disagree with it's deletion, request a AfD discussion using the Hang On tag. Hello, HooshArted. You have new messages at TParis00ap's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

To answer your question, the article was deleted for a lack of notability and of verifiable third-party sources. There are extremely high notability standards for articles on musicians. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 06:39, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
