Nicholas Tse
I was wondering if you were aware if there was an established convention on the order of names for Chinese people in WP? There has been a tug of war going on at the above, with editors changing it from Nicholas Tse Ting-fung to Nicholas Ting-fung Tse and back again. I'm getting rather sick of it. Ohconfucius (talk) 15:44, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
- Not sure if there's any consensus on WP for that, but the common convention in real life in HK is (if they're going to write their names in that form at all) to do "Nicholas Tse Ting Fung". But this usually isn't done unless it's a formal situation like in a news article or on a CV. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 17:34, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

Would you like to join the Koei Warriors Games WikiProject? It is everything Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, and Warriors Orochi! To participate, add your name to the list of participants and apply {{User WPKoeiWarriors}} to your user page.
If you are not sure what a WikiProject is, it is a club of Wikipedians interested in the WikiProject's subject and helping to improve articles of or related to that subject. I saw you greatly contributed to the Samurai Warriors article, so I figured I'd ask if you wanted to participate in Wikipedia:Wikiproject/Koei Warriors Games. Han Chinese
Hey, look out for the Han Chinese article will you. Anonymous users are keep reverting back the article to version that contains statements of dubious origin (Chinese language article and article from political sources). The anonymous users comments in the talk page are pretty incoherent as well (with name callings and then some). Hi! If you have time and if you're interested, could you take a look at the above article? It has made lots of progress since an earlier version of it was deleted and since you last looked at it. Your advice would be welcome on how to improve it further, and maybe on how to rename it, because the current title appears a little bulky. Cheers, Madalibi (talk) 10:49, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

"Well, we're talking about identity politics. I don't have a source for it on hand, but I believe Han people are so named as a reference to the Han dynasty itself. And it should be asked, were there really "Han" people before the Han dynasty? Remember, the short-lived Qin dynasty, which came immediately before the Han dynasty, served to unite about 7 different tribes or nations of people, and marked the first unification of China"
WRONG- xia, shang, and zhou dynasty already were untied before zhou split into warring states, they were SAME PEOPLE, NOT DIFFERENT TRIBES. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.155.150.235 (talk • contribs) 2009-02-22T22:59:17

Brand Hong Kong
Dear Hong Qi Gong,
I work for the Brand Hong Kong Management Unit. The current Wiki Brand Hong Kong page contains a lot of out-of-date and inaccurate material, so we are trying to update the page. Why did you remove my update of June 16? I included plenty of reference material to justify my changes. I would appreciate it if you reinstate my changes of June 16 - it will save me the time and trouble of doing it again. I have already lost many hours of work trying to find how to contact you!
We also intend entering information about Brand Hong Kong of the main Hong Kong page. We would appreciate it if you do not undo our additions.
Many thanks, Mark. (If you wish pls email brandhk@isd.gov.hk) —Preceding unsigned comment added by PMJ Regan (talk • contribs) 08:32, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
Brand Hong Kong 2
You have again reinstated inaccurate and out-of-date information about BrandHK - please refrain from doing it again! We have noted your points and removed anything that might remotely be described as self-promotional from our edit. Nor does any of the new material breach any copyright - all material used is the product of Brand Hong Kong Management Unit - it is our product! We cannot breach our own copyright. I have posted a revised edit today which contains purely factual information about BrandHK and its history. Please bear in mind that we have other changes still to come. For example, the current BrandHK logo on the Wiki page is incorrect so we are going to remove it and post up the correct image in the coming days via Wikipedia Commons. We have a legitimate right to edit inaccurate or out of date information about BrandHK. I have also placed a message for you on my talk page. PMJ Regan (talk) 09:02, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

Consensus change on ROC/TW
I wanted to let you know that apparently there has been a change in the Wikipedia consensus on the use of "Republic of China (Taiwan)". If you recall (or not) from the discussion 2 years ago, the combination use can be applied for "origin". I'm not sure when it happened, but "origin" is now over on the "Taiwan" column, where "birthplace" was and is. Japanese people in Flushing, queens
Are there japanese people and bussineses in flushing, queens today? I am just asking this question because, i hear that flushing, queens is a mixture of Chinese, Koreans and Japanese people living in the area having there own communities in flushing. Does flushing, queens have a Japanese expatraite community residing in the flushing area? Also, if there are japanese people living in flushing, queens today, how many japanese people are currently living there today in the area of flushing? (96.232.6.27 (talk) 23:33, 20 August 2009 (UTC)). h

Where can i do some research and find out about about the japanese presence in flushing, queens and around new york city? (96.232.152.203 (talk) 16:37, 21 August 2009 (UTC)).

How do you know that there are no Japanese people living in flushing, queens? I hear that Flushing, queens has a large Japanese expatriate community in the area and my source is in the Rego Park, queens article section meaning that there is a japanese presence in flushing. - Thanks for pointing that out to me. I've removed the unsourced statement about Japanese expatriates in Rego Park moving to Flushing. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 01:49, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
Is it true that Japanese people in Queens currently live in Sunnyside? Designated survivor
I think this removal was based on a misunderstanding: If I understand the procedure correctly, then it's not for every speech, but only for such special events as state of the Union Addresses and presidential inaugurations. The two addresses before the Joint Session of Congress were special; the media discussed that these amounted to state of the union addresses. That said, http://www.google.com/search?q=%22Steven+Chu%22+%22designated+survivor%22 doesn't seem to yield many reliable references, so it's probably not notable. — Sebastian 17:03, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Object to your reversion of my update to University Grants Committee
I do not understand why you reverted my update to University Grants Committee. The (British) University Grants Committee was founded in 1918 and existed for 80 years - it was a key institution in UK higher education for all that time and clearly deserves an article in its own right, as a historical record. The reason you give for reverting is incorrect. It is not now the Universities Funding Council - that was a short-lived body. The functions of the UGC are now taken on by HEFCE, SHEFC etc. as mentioned in the article, but as said above the UGC deserves its own article, not as a footnote to HEFCE. With various University Grants Committees/Commissions around the world it makes no sense for the main UGC article to default to the Hong Kong UGC - this should properly be University Grants Committe (Hong Kong) in the style of existing page titles, e.g. University Grants Commission (Bangladesh)
Secondly, why did you not refer to the talk pages before doing this reversion, or join in with the discussion? It was suggested by another user a month ago (21 August) that the page should refer to the original UK UGC, not the Hong Kong one. You could have contributed to this discussion. I would be grateful if you would reinstate my edit. Lonegroover (talk) 13:50, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
Edits on Tung Chee Hwa and Chris Patten
Hi, I noticed you undo my edits on succession boxes for Tung Chee Hwa and Chris Patten. I would like to hear your reasons for doing so. I was trying to establish a connection for the switch in government figurehead during the Transfer of sovereignty of Hong Kong. The article at its current state is rather confusing, the figurehead position did not really get abolished nor created in 1997. It was more of a change in title due to a change in government. Here's an example I pulled from Template:S-start page.
Tavatar (talk) 16:50, 8 October 2009 (UTC)
- I don't know enough about French history to comment on that table you copied over. HK Governor and Chief Executive are not the same thing. If people want to read about the transfer of sovereignty, they can read the article on the handover. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 00:03, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
- What I wanted to point out with the French box is that the intended way to represent a change in sovereignty or government in Wikipedia. The succession box I put in did not state those two are the same thing, it merely mentioned who was the head of the Hong Kong government before and after 1997. Somebody is still in charge of Hong Kong before 30 June 2009 and after 1 July 2009, that person still has the same power, but only with a different title. That's what my edited in the succession boxes tried to point out. Here's a quote from the Chief Executive of Hong Kong article.
- The Chief Executive of Hong Kong (traditional Chinese: 香港行政長官) is the head of the government of Hong Kong and the principal representative of Hong Kong. The position was created to replace the Governor of Hong Kong, who was the head of the Hong Kong government during British rule.
- The current state of the succession box in Tung Chee Hwa and Chris Patten's article does not include any of detail of what happened to the person in charge of Hong Kong before nor who got the head person after the takeover. It's almost as suggesting Hong Kong went into a state of Anarchy for a period of time with nobody in charge. Tavatar (talk) 15:12, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
- That's a good point. But the succession box is not for Head of Government of Hong Kong. The succession box on the Chris Patten article is for Governor of Hong Kong, and the one for the Tung Chee Hwa article is for the Chief Executive of Hong Kong. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 16:17, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
- One is the head of government of Hong Kong for UK, the other one is the head of government of Hong Kong for China, I failed to see how they are completely two completely different things as you stated. Succession boxes are used to show the person before and after him/her in function he/her was in charge of. WP:SBS explains the function more in detail. In this case, the name Governor of Hong Kong and Chief Executive of Hong Kong are merely titles under a different government, the real function is head of the government of Hong Kong. This fits in the category of offices tracked by succession boxes. It would be fair to say Tung Chee Hwa succeed Chris Patten, Governor of Hong Kong's function as head of Government of Hong Kong under the title Chief Executive of Hong Kong. Tavatar (talk) 17:23, 11 October 2009 (UTC)
- That's a good point. But the succession box is not for Head of Government of Hong Kong. The succession box on the Chris Patten article is for Governor of Hong Kong, and the one for the Tung Chee Hwa article is for the Chief Executive of Hong Kong. hello
Hi, since you're active on Chinese article and can understand korean, I really need help at two clothing article. It's a well known fact that Tang Dynasty's clothing have been influenced by Central Asians (due to Tang's expansion in the area) but those are clothings are like these [3]+ [4]+ [5]. User Cydevil3 use Korean sources to state that Banbi and Beizi are "adopt" from central asian, and both of these clothings aren't visible in Central Asian clothings. I believe he is using Foreign influences during Tang Dynasty to generalize that all of Tang's clothing are adopt from there. He provided Korean sources I can't read or having the full version of it available. What should i do...and i ask him to provide a link to his sources or translate it at here [6] on oct 27 2009 and he's active after i post that comment on his talk page,,,,he's ignoring me...--LLTimes (talk) 20:55, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
- I don't see how he's trying to generalise that all of Tang dynasty clothing were adopted from Central Asia. Those sentences that the sources are linked to are pretty specific to the banbi and the beizi. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 07:42, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
- Which source O_o? can you translate the line for me?--LLTimes (talk) 17:25, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
- If you doubt the accuracy of the sources because they are not verifiable, I think the best thing to do is to search for sources that are verifiable online. Hong Qi Gong (Talk - Contribs) 18:21, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
- What if you can't find the source online? i only can find the dancing custom source which only talks about dancing clothing (some dancing clothing were influenced by Central asian) but Banbi and Beizi aren't dancing customs or even mentioned. anyway sry to trouble you :( --LLTimes (talk) 20:17, 8 December 2009 (UTC)
