Image copyright problem with Image:March on rome.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:March on rome.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}}
(to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 13:26, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
Images
Please be sure the source and copyright information of any images you upload is accurate, as is your responsibility. I note that Image:KeithMcFarland.jpg is also found at [1], clearly labeled "Copyright (c) 2008, All Rights Reserved. The Breakthrough Company", while your upload is "self made" and licensed stating you are the photographer and copyright holder. Did Breakingthroughcompany.com use your photo? Or is the information on your upload inaccurate? If the latter, please correct it. If you are unsure about policies, ask. Thanks, -- Infrogmation (talk) 04:20, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Declaration Regarding Material Assistance
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Declaration Regarding Material Assistance, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Plrk (talk) 22:37, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

You may be able to find a free be searching the engines here. If you have any questions about media copyright feel free to contact me. §hep • ¡Talk to me! 17:57, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hmmm - odd that you would invite me to join the Ohio Portal, and then on the same day start digging through my submissions for something to submit for deletion. At the time of the submission of the image, the website in question provided fair use guidelines that I followed. I only worked on the page because it was listed under Wikipedia articles needing cleanup - I have no interest in the article beyond a brief effort to contribute to as better article. Anyways, have fun with your Wikipedia endeavors. Historymike (talk) 00:00, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image (Image:Mitch ryder LP.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Mitch ryder LP.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Aspects (talk) 23:37, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

File copyright problem with File:Ben Konop 2009.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:Ben Konop 2009.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. — neuro(talk)(review) 19:03, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

Photo of Peter Waite
Hello Historymike, the image of Peter Waite you uploaded in 2008 has only been used in one article Peter Waite (philanthropist) for the Australian pastoralist and philanthropist. It seems odd that such a photo of an oil painting of such a South Australian has come from Toledo, Ohio. The State Library of South Australia have a photo (but permission is required to use) of him in his early years and I struggle to see the resemblance. Are you able to confirm that the photo is of the correct Peter Waite? Thanks.--Cruickshanks (talk) 20:17, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, this is the correct Peter Waite, though about four decades removed from the image you linked. Feel free to edit the article if you prefere a different image. Historymike (talk) 12:48, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for that. I found the same image elsewhere and that seems to confim it is one and the same person. I also found a photograph and a painted version in the exact same pose and so it was certain the painting was of the photo. Not a big issue but for information, I suspect based on the detail visible in his beard that the image you have is actually an extract of the photograph used for the painting, rather than the painting itself. Anyway, it does appear to be Peter Waite 40 years later. Regards--Cruickshanks (talk) 16:27, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Gulf of Aden2.xcf
A tag has been placed on File:Gulf of Aden2.xcf requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File source problem with File:Tkachev 2.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:Tkachev 2.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Question
Hi Mike,
I was wondering if you knew anything about the Elizabethan Era in England. I am currently researching the question: How did Queen Elizabeth I create a sense of nationalism in England? I was hoping you would be able to provide some insight on this topic or direct me to a person who could.

The file File:Puggle two year.JPG has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
unused, low-res, no obvious use
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:01, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
2019 US Banknote Contest
US Banknote Contest | ||
---|---|---|
November-December 2019 | ||
There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate. If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here |
