National Merit
[edit]Hi Hindtoad. I've removed Andrew Straw from the list of notable Scholars again. Please go to the National Merit Talk page and discuss things before putting Straw back on the list. That could be construed as edit warring and get you blocked again, which we don't want.
I suggest starting with this discussion, Talk:National_Merit_Scholarship_Program#Hillary_Clinton_National_Merit_Status which is similar to what's going on in this case. Hillary wasn't a Scholar, but one of her supporters insisted she was.
If you have any evidence other than Straw's c.v., please share it.

- It's not like newspapers tend to talk about National Merit Scholar status, but Straw was actually a scholar and got a scholarship from C-Thru Ruler Corp. I have no comment about Hillary Clinton, but it is well known that her husband was a Rhodes Scholar. Straw was admitted to the Honors program in biochemistry at Indiana University in Bloomington and just getting admitted to that program, you have to have a very high SAT score. One of the discoverers of DNA was teaching there. I will do some Internet research to see if anyone has discussed Straw's National Merit Scholar status. I doubt it, but let's see.Hindtoad (talk) 13:02, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
- Here's a link to the National Office Products Association Scholarship, which is only open to National Merit Scholars. Andrew Straw NOPA Scholarship Letter. This was a corporate National Merit Scholarship, and obviously the competition for it was intense, since the letter says Straw beat out more than 590 other applicants.Hindtoad (talk) 13:24, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
- This letter from National Merit shows Straw was a finalist in 1987. Andrew Straw National Merit Finalist Letter. - Hindtoad (talk) 19:55, 26 April 2019 (UTC)

[edit]This is your only warning; if you make personal attacks on others again, as you did at Talk:Andrew U. D. Straw, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. Bbb23 (talk) 15:25, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
- It was not me that made personal attacks, but Kablammo. Lie about it all you want, but he compared the subject of the page to a dishonest lawyer who promotes PORN. There is no evidence that Andrew Straw is dishonest or that he promotes porn and I suggest that you look at Kablammo for the defamation, not me. Wikipedia has a policy against defamation, right? My complaint was fully justified and your warning is misplaced, sir. Hindtoad (talk) 04:26, 28 May 2017 (UTC)

. Bbb23 (talk) 20:07, 29 May 2017 (UTC)The article Andrew U. D. Straw has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Lack of notability. Subject's political campaigns have not seemed to have brought him to a level that meets our guidelines for notability as a politician. While he has been a lawyer, I haven't seen the in-depth coverage of him indicating that he has had some significant impact. And the political party he started is small enough that it has a Wikipedia page, and I've seen no sign that it's gotten anyone elected to public office. Article was previously deleted via AFD.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Nat Gertler (talk) 00:53, 2 July 2017 (UTC)

Request reason:
I ask to be unblocked and I will start participating on Talk pages rather than diving into changing pages themselves, which seems to result in far more acrimony. Hindtoad (talk) 19:59, 26 April 2019 (UTC)
