Jeff's comments

[edit]

I see both edits you've made to the main page and also items in your sandbox. I'll comment on each:

Main page

- This insertion ("However, only an estimated twenty five percent of these species have been formally discovered, leaving a substantial proportion yet to be scientifically classified") includes the Richards et al. reference that previously had been tagged to the previous sentence. I only looked at the abstract, but are you confident that this reference applies (also) to your new sentence?

- I would reverse the order of these two sentences - I think it would be a more logical order. " However, only an estimated twenty five percent of these species have been formally discovered, leaving a substantial proportion yet to be scientifically classified. Since the 1950’s half of the living corals on the Great Barrier Reef have died, and coral reef-associated biodiversity has declined by sixty three percent."

Sandbox

- Katie made a number of suggestions, including to sentences that I think maybe were imported from the original page. I agree with her comments.

Overall

- I'm not completely sure whether your sandbox or the edits you already did the the Main page are your main contribution. I think that your rewriting of the Main page's Biodiversity section was helpful, as it did streamline the writing. That's a relatively minor contribution by itself, though - did you add any new refs or the like? That said, improving the writing can have a big impact - you might give the rest of the page a closer look too. Look for areas that need citations.
