Thank you
[edit]Thanks for fixing the typo error on my user page...I guess that I'm due for some reading glasses. User:Sba2 09:49, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Choosing battles
[edit]In fact in List of sex positions we have almost entirely drawings and not photographs. I doubt you will be able to convince more than a few people that photos should be excluded from anatomical articles. And if you choose to tilt at those windmills, you are wasting time that could be spent in the much more substantial moral crises of Wikipedia, such as the blatant and widespread pedophile and pederast advocacy. Wikipedia:WikiProject Pedophilia Article Watch has more information. I wish I could say that they are winning. 1of3 09:49, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:Lexus emblem.svg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Lexus emblem.svg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:15, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
Deletion
[edit]Yeah, it sucks, but you can always add {{User:Jenolen/Userboxes/User no GFDL}} and get the same effect.--CyberGhostface 14:05, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Sacramento_Regional_Transit.svg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Sacramento_Regional_Transit.svg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. –Dream out loud (talk) 06:32, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
Better source request for Image:Harley-Davidson.svg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Harley-Davidson.svg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talkpage. Thank you. OsamaK (talk) 19:28, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
Gilbert Islands overview table
[edit]Hi there, since you asked, look here [1], I started (and almost finished) the overview table. In the meantime, vol. 127 ov the Atoll Research Bulletin [[2]] has been reposted complete. This is the only source I know that gives lagoon area figures for ALL Gilbert Islands atolls. I converted those square mile figures to square kilometers for my table. The sources of other information I shall document before I move the table from the discussion to the article page.--Ratzer (talk) 21:41, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Henry, would you reconsider your Islands of Kiribati overview table again. I'm not sure if you want it to be a table of administrative subdivisions (local government districts/island councils) or a table of atolls and islands. In the first case, it would be incorrect to list the islands of the Phoenix Islands and of the Central and Southern Line Islands individually. In the latter case, it would be incorrect to list Tabiteuea North/South and Tarawa North/South separately, IMHO.--Ratzer (talk) 11:35, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
pronunciation
[edit]Thanks. He pronounced it [kiɾibɑsːː] (more or less), but that was while speaking in English. Is it pronounced the same way in Kiribati? That drawn out sss at the end, as well as at the ends of some of his English words, makes me wonder if he's compensating for his native accent (suppressing a final vowel?) while speaking in English. Or is final /i/ normally dropped in Kiribati words after /t/? Or maybe just in words borrowed from English? kwami (talk) 06:50, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
John T. Arundel
[edit]Thanks for the tip. I was going to link to these photos already, at a different site. When I tried to link them to your site, the link did not work, so I re-linked them to the Higley family site with the same photos. Do you have any referrences to contribute to the article, or perhaps a non-copyright portrait? Pustelnik (talk) 12:20, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
