Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 05:33, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 48 hours for edit warring, as you did at Hamza Yusuf. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.  v/r - TP 17:24, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

the editors reverting my changes are not supplying citations for their reversion. The issue is whether the subject is an academic scholar or not. These editors have resorted to name calling and to their usual tactic of joining forces to build consensus over an unsupported claim.

Decline reason:

You have not addressed the reason for the block. Others' conduct is not an excuse for edit-warring. See WP:NOTTHEM. Huon (talk) 19:43, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

This is my first edit in Wikipedia and I do not know the rules of editing. Perhaps I could have been warned before a 48 hour block was placed. By the way, are the others going to be penalized for their conduct?

The reason you alone were blocked is because you were trying to add a negative connotation to the biography of a living person without any citations and despite citations that describe the subject as a scholar. The other editors are protected by an exemption in WP:Edit warring to revert negative unsourced material in BLPs. If you want to move forward, you need to provide citations that support your addition of "non-academic" into the article. It is not a requirement of the editors removing the information to prove a negative.--v/r - TP 20:37, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I provided citations. Can you look at them. Saying someone is non-academic is not negative. It just means their work is not academic and that they don't participate in what is called scholarship under recognized meanings of scholarship (please see scholarship in Wikipedia)

Comment: Please note that creating other accounts while under a block amounts to block circumvention and will lead to your other accounts being blocked indefinitely. Please read WP:sockpuppetry. Regards, kashmiri TALK 00:28, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for abusing multiple accounts to evade a block. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.  v/r - TP 00:51, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
