Out with the old...

[edit]

Howdy.

Not sure if you're aware, but there's been continued discussion of the article about you. Users Mystache and Doc13mets seem to think you're a "living legend." I don't think these guys are going to fool anyone, but if you don't mind, some clarification of your "personal attack" and "inside joke" remarks would be appreciated.

Thanks. Android79 22:57, Mar 17, 2005 (UTC)

Please don't feel obliged to apologize for unprovoked attacks on you in a WP article. You did the right thing, however, in responding on VfD to let us know what the background to this nonsense was. Thank you. Edeans 22:42, 18 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I'm working on WikiProject New Jersey and I have every one of New Jersey's 566 municipalities on my watchlist. When I saw that East Newark, New Jersey was updated, I followed the change through and cleaned up the new page to fit standards. It's my pleasure, just let me know if I can help with anything, especially if it's New Jersey-related. Alansohn 03:38, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hellenica, I do appologize if I prematurely assumed that you are biased. I am under impression that you are not familiar with the topic otherwise you would know how wrong the article realy is. The article itself does not event grant the consideration and it insults the intelegence. I have been dealing with this and few other users that are pushing similar agenda for many months now and to say the least it is an exausting task and one that is not rewarding of time spent on Wikipedia. Regards --Dado 06:39, 7 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

[edit]

Regarding your post here - I should thank you for taking the time to set up the AfD page for this page - I did a lot of speedies today, and did not have the time to set it up for this article. So, for your initiative, here is a WikiThanks for you! --HappyCamper 06:50, 7 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What to do?

[edit]

Hello again! Thanks for your work on keeping track of the votes here - it is starting to get a bit confusing indeed. Since I have voted on that page, I will refrain from closing it - another administrator within a week or so should be able to do so, and given that the comments on that page are quite lengthy, I expect they will certainly comb through the history and check for sockpuppets and such. If you want to help with cleaning up the article, I would suggest that you wait until the AfD vote is over, and then a little bit longer (perhaps an extra few days or so) because that way, the changes may not be so frequent and intense. Wikipedia should be a fun place to contribute to, and it would not be healthy to get burned out over an article! :-) I think you are very wise for thinking carefully which articles with bias are worth your time and effort to improve. As for me, I think I'm going to stay away from editing the article as I know next to nothing on the subject. If you find that the editing environment on that page is degenerating further, I might come back and either protect the page or issue 3RR blocks. However, I generally do not do either of these unless I think it is beneficial to the article. Although it seems quite heated right now, I think it should be okay for the next few days. I hope this helps, and I'll see you around. Feel free to come by my talk page again anytime! --HappyCamper 19:09, 7 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Exactly :-) Well, I guess I couldn't have expected you to know I am an admin here - the word is completely missing on my userpage! I do this because it is a way for me to keep myself collected on Wikipedia. There are lots of things I am interested to help out with, and it is important that I'm not too spread out with my time and effort. Thanks again for your message! --HappyCamper 21:49, 7 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, you know me...step away when it isn't worth it! :-) Well, here's my opinion: as much as the article served as an intensifier, if you really want to edit the article to make it better, I would wait until the edit war subsides - even a few months if necessary. Wait until the edit war burns itself out. The scope of Wikipedia is sufficiently large that you do not need to focus on that one particular article. There are plenty of other articles which could use your expertise - articles that probably have editing environments with relatively more peace and quiet. I read the talk page, and I think you did the best that you could with what you had! Remember that some disputes are simply out of the scope of Wikipedia to solve, and at least you spent the time and effort to work towards a resolution. This is no easy feat - generally speaking, (and especially for articles with institutionalised points of view) editors see Wikipedia primarily as a mechanism to educate others, and not the other way around. Know when to jump in, and when to jump out - especially when no one is listening and understanding. I hope this helps! (By the way, I may not see your next message as I am on a plane, but thanks for dropping by again - I really appreciated it.) --HappyCamper 21:45, 15 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Transportation in NYC

Hello Hellenica - I notice you've done work on the New York City article. Your great contributions on highways and airports in NYC have grown into a new sub article, Transportation in New York City, which has been nominated to be a US Collaboration of the Week. Check it out and if you like it, please vote for it. http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/WP:USCOTW We need all the votes we can get! Wv235 04:05, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Uglydog.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

License tagging for Image:FrHolmes2.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:FrHolmes2.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 03:04, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AmbHassan.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. 82.83.96.252 10:22, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Hellenica. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:Brezhnev.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Hellenica/Amusement. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 07:22, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:FrHolmes.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Jusjih 01:32, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Seton Hall University Good Article Status

[edit]

Hi, I'm reaching out to all the major editors of the SHU article in hopes of finishing up some edits required to bring the article up to GA status. The article had passed GA, but was then placed on hold, contingent on our finishing the items on our to do list. I'd appreciate any help you could give in making this happen. Speedy Delete: Luigi Petrozza

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Luigi Petrozza requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Accounting4Taste 20:30, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Luigi Petrozza

[edit]

Luigi Petrozza, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Luigi Petrozza satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Luigi Petrozza and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Luigi Petrozza during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Accounting4Taste 20:32, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:FrHolmes.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:FrHolmes.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 21:36, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
