Lead Section Size

The lead section of a Wikipedia article is the section before the first heading. The table of contents, if displayed, generally appears between the lead section and the first subheading.

Rule of thumb: If a topic deserves a heading or subheading, then it deserves short mention in the lead.

The lead section should contain up to four paragraphs, depending on the length of the article, and should provide a preview of the main points the article will make, summarizing the primary reasons the subject matter is interesting or notable. The lead should be capable of standing alone as a concise overview of the article, should be written in a clear and accessible style, should be carefully sourced like the rest of the text, and should encourage the reader to want to read more. The following table has some general guidelines for the length of the lead section:

< 15,000 characters medium size > 30,000 characters
one or two paragraphs   two or three paragraphs   three or four paragraphs

Your draft article, Draft:Monkey (app)

[edit]

Hello, Hayksaakian. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Monkey".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! Lapablo (talk) 21:15, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I understand that there is a conflict of interest if I am writing about people or companies that I am professionally familiar with, or connected to. I agree to not to make any edits or new articles related to myself or anyone I have or will work with going forward, to avoid any issues of spam or advertising. I believe that is why I was originally blocked for spam, and I have since then learned more about wikipedia and the policies. I would like to regain edit permissions to make corrections or updates to articles that I casually read on wikipedia. For example there is a page about the card game metazoo that talks about a future release of a hello kitty cross promotional set. That was written in the past, and that set was already released, so if someone read the wikipedia page they would either be confused or think it is outdated. I rely on wikipedia to learn about new topics and expand my understanding of the world, and I just want to make it a better website. - Hayk Saakian Hayksaakian (talk) 7:11 pm, 27 December 2023, Wednesday (23 days ago) (UTC−5)

Accept reason:

User agrees to not edit about any subject with which they have an off-Wiki connection. Welcome back -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 07:38, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

(Non-administrator comment) Just a tip if you hope to be unblocked. When you say In the future if someone asks me to do that I would just encourage them to do it themselves, you're not demonstrating a full understanding of WP:COI. It would absolutely violate Wikipedia policy for an app developer to create or edit an article about their own product. You will be expected to know things like that. —Matuko (talk) 17:56, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for highlighting my error in suggesting that app developers write their own Wikipedia articles, which I now understand violates the Conflict of Interest (WP:COI) policy. In the future, instead of making such recommendations, I will advise individuals or organizations to note their notability on the talk pages for community consideration.
I've dedicated time to thoroughly understanding Wikipedia's guidelines to ensure my future contributions are in strict adherence, focusing only on topics where I have no personal or professional ties.
Please consider my appeal. I am committed to upholding the integrity and neutrality of Wikipedia as a responsible member of the community. Hayksaakian (talk) 18:46, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@MER-C: Is this adequate to unblock? -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 01:32, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm always skeptical about COI/UPE unblocks but I defer to your judgment. MER-C 19:07, 9 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm skeptical of these as well. Will defer. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 20:18, 12 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate the kindness here. I'll endeavour to show through my actions going forward that your trust was not misplaced. Hayksaakian (talk) 18:18, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
