52nd Battalion attack at Villers-Bretonneux commenced on 24 April 1918 at 10:10PM not on 25 April 1918 and the wood is spelt AQUENNE and not AQUERNE

[edit]

The attack by the 52nd Battalion as part of the 13th Brigade to the south of Villers-Bretonneux commenced at 10.10pm on 24 April 1918 - Anzac Day eve - not Anzac Day. [1]. Beside the spelling mistake for Aquenne Wood I think the sentence about Monument Wood and Hangard Wood also confuses things. The Bedfords were to advance due east and attack Hangard to the south of the 52nd. North of them the 52nd advanced due east to Monument Wood. The 51st north of them was to attack Monument Farm to the north of Monument Wood. I'd drop the reference to Hangard and the Bedfords completely. [2] Australian Rupert - you have dome an excellent job based on Edgar apart from the date error.Harpooner1830 (talk) 22:48, 15 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

~Four Potter brothers at Mouquet Farm

[edit]

Hi - I'm suggesting that mention should be made that in the attack at Mouquet Farm on 3 September 1916 that 3 out of 4 Potter brothers in the 52nd were killed in the one day. The other was so severely wounded that following recovery he was returned home. The loss of three brothers in one day has only occurred twice in Australian Military History - the other instance being the loss of the three Seabrook brothers on 20 September 1917.[3]Harpooner1830 (talk) 22:50, 15 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
