Great article! I would include a reference here: "In traditional Haida social practices, it was customary to have villages occupied only by one of the two clans - Raven or Eagle. Families from both clans lived in Koona." I would also consider lumping the two sections on Dawson together, and discussing the migration to Skidegate separately under its own section/heading. Em's thoughts

[edit]

Great article! I loved the story about how the village got its name, and that you mention the Eagle and Raven clans. If you have any information on what Skedans was like pre-contact, I think you should add that too! Otherwise, here are my suggestions for the presentation:

1. You could divide the article into sections: an introduction (first paragraph), then “Name and variations” (second paragraph), and “European contact” (third-fourth-and-fifth paragraph), and merge the sixth and final paragraph with the first, as everything about the Skedans of Today should be included in the same section.

2.You could shorten the first sentence to: “Skedans is a Haida village site located within a bay at the northeastern coast of Louise island in Haida Gwaii off the North Coast of British Columbia, Canada.”, then include the last sentence about it being part of Gwaii Haanas.

3.In that case, “Koona, Q'una, Koona LLnaagay, K'uuna Llnagaay, Q!o'na Inaga'-I, Q:o'na, and Ḵ'uuna Llnagaay which are variants of its traditional name in the Haida language” could be reworked in the “Name and variations” section.

Hey Emily! Thanks, your suggestions make a ton of sense. We'll divide the article into sections tomorrow. For some reason, I forgot that was a thing. Secondly, I also found the first sentence to be convoluted upon another read - I'll change that as well. ~Sydney from Hannah's account Hannahrdwyer (talk) 04:39, 18 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
