July update

Just want to let you know how things are going and what I've been up to. I've been more involved in the AFD process and my soft deletionist views are definitely showing; this nonsense of people thinking high schools are automatically notable makes me want to bounce my head off a wall. After the lengthy and heated battle over the Angela Beesley article and lots of smaller debates, I've grown a bit in skill and maturity imo.

Related to the recent surge in deletion of list and pop culture articles, User:Chubbles1212 (the guy mostly responsible for the FA status of the Guinea pig article) and I decided to shift the notable content of Cultural references to guinea pigs into prose and merge it with the main article. It has so far been a success.

Other recent projects have been a small spat over content in the Vegan article. The vegans didn't like the fact that I added content from the New York Times about vegan children dying of malnutrition. That article reads like a damn pamphlet on the joys of a vegan diet. But on a more positive note: I have played not too small a part in the massive collaborative re-write of the controversial Parapsychology article, which was at the center of a yet to be resovled ArbCom case (Paranormal). Despite working in an environment that was basically scientists/skeptics versus parapsychologists, the rewrite is done and the article received GA status per my nomination. So that's that.

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Logo static.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Logo static.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Unusual Adoption Request

Hi! Im an English teacher in Toluca Mexico (west of Mexico City). My Advanced B classes will be contributing to Wikipedia as the focus of their English course for Fall 2007. I am looking for people who would like to mentor my students (who will be working in groups) as they do the following assignments: Edit and article (adding a citation), writing a stub with a citation, translating an English language article for Spanish Wikipedia and for the final project, writing a full article for English Wiki (they can expand on the stub mentioned previously). What I would like to do is put a list of "mentors/adopters" on my talk page as a kind of short cut for my students, who have limited time to get things done. The semester begings Aug 6, but the real Wikipedia work wont begin until the beginning of Sept. If you would like to add your name to my list, please go to my talk page and add it there, perhaps with a short introduction, if you like.

just thought you should know...

I've decided it's time I graduated from the adoption program, notwithstanding that people were surprised I was adopted when I made talk comments at the program. You haven't responded since my last update (not criticizing, just saying either you didn't think any advice was needed or you're inactive), and I've been adopted for several months. In this time, I've grown in maturity and experience on-wiki considerably I think. I've moved from simply being a content editor to working on AFD, RFA, doing 10+ succesful GA reviews (see the chronological list on my userpage), as well as making good reports to AIV, 3RR vio board, and ANI. Thanks for your kind words Richard, they really mean a lot. I totally understand about the crap job market. It's only through blatant nepotism that I got my current jobs.
