Wikipedia:ACCESS#Resolution, while I agree that conforming to something used by less than a percentage of a our readers, when doing so is detrimental at times to the other 99% is ludicrous, we are required to make things compatible with 800x600. Wikipedia:WikiProject_Usability/Sizing_examples#Screen_width_test specifies that 592 pixels works best under that resolution. I'm going to try and find a way of making it scale to the screen size. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 16:21, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
I'm working on it... you might like the finished product! Haljackey (talk) 16:24, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
I got it down to 662 pixels. Resizing it to 592 looks ok. I put it in the sandbox here: http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Talk:Ontario_Highway_401/sandbox#Collector-Express_System
- this is what it looks like, which is kind of weird. When its below the TOC, it makes a constant left margin. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 17:03, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, never mind with that then :P. Haljackey (talk) 17:07, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Given the limited amount of information that could ever be available for a specific city, I don't think it's necessary to have headers beyond South-western / Eastern Ontario and the GTA. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 20:07, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

The 401 photo you uploaded
[edit]I'm not going to get into details, but I think you know that uploading it on flickr doesn't make it yours, unfortunately. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 05:50, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
- I've got the ok from the creator of the image, but he doesn't know how to get it on here. I was thinking that was the best way to get it on for now. I'll edit the details as I get more info. Guess I'll revert the image until I have it. Haljackey (talk) 14:58, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
- Send them the fill out form available here, and email it to permissions-commonswikimedia.org, preferably from an email address on the same domain as the image is hosted. Let me know if you need a hand with it or anything, I'd really love to see that image used. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 15:42, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
- Will do. Oh and by the way, he also has it up on Flickr (but in a different shade) but its under all rights reserved (link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/redroom_studios/1440036557/). If that was changed to some rights reserved would it be ok to use or does he still have to go and fill out that form? Haljackey (talk) 17:15, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
- If he changes it to attributed and/or share-alike, then you could upload it and link the flikr url as the source. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 22:44, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
- Awesome, I'll see what I can do. Haljackey (talk) 02:22, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
- lol, turns out the photo isn't his either. Any ideas from here? Haljackey (talk) 00:12, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- I figured that would be the case. I'm pretty sure it was taken by the MTO for one of their many reports (I have seen the picture on one of the older reports. 2007 SHP if I remember correctly). So really it's a case of trying some more to get a better picture and replacing the current photo once that is found, or giving up and only mentioning it in text. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 00:51, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- I'll keep trying lol. It's the widest stretch of the 401, and one of the widest in the world, so it's a powerful photo to use.
- Speaking of photos, I'll have access to a good Digital SLR camera over the next little bit. Any photos you want from the London area? I'm willing to go as far as the 401/403 split in Woodstock. I could also retake some shots I took with my camera for better quality. Haljackey (talk) 02:55, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, some shots of Highway 4 and 402 would be really useful (and 3 if you're willing to go south that far). If you can get the 401/402 split or the 401/403 split, they'd be useful as well. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 05:38, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- Highway 4 is just a regular road around here, not much to set itself apart. I already got the 401-402 split in one of my shots. There is an overpass closer to the split, but it doesn't have sidewalks so it would be really difficult to do. As for the 401/403, not sure if there is a good place to get a shot of it. I got a great place where I can get a shot of Highway 3 in St. Thomas (the expressway part). I'll be heading there anyway on Sunday so it should be easy to get, but I won't have access to a digital SLR then. Haljackey (talk) 13:07, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- Any shot is good. Even a nice shot of 4 disappearing into the rural horizon would be ok. As it is though, there's no photo for it at all. Doesn't matter if you don't have the DSLR, it's not like your normal camera takes crappy pictures :p A picture from one of the overpasses showing the width of the trench vs. the two lane "expressway" would be awesome. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 15:20, 17 September 2010 (UTC)
- Didn't get a chance to take a photo of the Saint Thomas Expressway (it was raining) but I did manage to get two half-decent pictures of Highway 4. They're in the article now: http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Ontario_Highway_4 Haljackey (talk) 00:36, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
- Took a DSLR for a spin yesterday. Got 6 good pictures of the 401 in London. They'll be up on the commons page later today. Haljackey (talk) 01:41, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi, Haljackey, you are graciously extended an invitation to join the International Highways WikiProject and its new regional taskforces! The Highways WikiProject is an evolving and expanding WikiProject. We are a group of editors who are dedicated to creating, revising, and expanding articles, lists, categories, and Wikiprojects, or anything related to International Roads. This includes supporting existing regional road WikiProjects and fostering the development of new international highway WikiProjects. We have recently created five regional task forces focused on Europe, Asia, Africa, Oceania and Latin America.
To improve road and highway articles, here are guidelines for B class criteria. Please add any higher GA, FA quality articles to the international roads portal. Also, please help out by inviting new or unfamiliar editors with the Wikipedia:WikiProject Highways/New articles/Invite template. | ||
We look forward to welcoming you to the project! |
JCbot (talk) 01:51, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
I reverted your addition to the page. If I didn't, the bot would on its next update anyway. The only way to get something listed on the RC page is to tag that article/file/etc as part of the project, which I have done as well. Now the bot will add the photo it its standard formatting, and the manual addition won't be reverted. (The caption is not part of that format, btw.) Imzadi 1979 → 07:13, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
- All right, it's no big deal. I saw pictures in the US section, so I thought I may as well add one for Canada. If you don't want it it's fine. Haljackey (talk) 15:55, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
- I don't think you can add the caption since its automated. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 16:10, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) NO! I do want it. I just know that any manual editing of that page will be reverted by the bot the next time it edits. I copied the template from the USRD page for the CRWP, UKRD and HWY pages to set them up. They will all have any featured photos inserted in the pages by the bot. The problem is that the bot uses the banner template transclusions to determine what to include. File talk:Evacuated Highway 401 Color.jpg wasn't created with the {{CRWP}} tag, so the bot didn't know to include it. The bot made an update which not only added the photo, but added the newest GA New Brunswick Route 95 and added the DYK dates. (Since that's a relatively new option to display and even sort DYKs by the Main Page date that I added to the template.) In short, just like the Article Alerts page, the Recognized content page can't be manually edited, or the appropriate bot will overwrite your changes every time it updates. London Roads
[edit]Hey don't know if you've noticed the stub removal drive I've had at WP:ONRD. I was wondering if you'd be ok with, or interested in merging the multiple stub articles on the arterials in London into a list format similar to List of Ontario Tourist Routes or the sandbox version of List of roads in Toronto that I'm working on? It would help cut down the amount of work that needs to be done and any of the more substantial articles can always be left separate. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 02:24, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
- I'm ok with it. The road articles for London are incomplete to say the least. Feel free to remove any stubs you see fit. Haljackey (talk) 02:38, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
3RR
[edit]I have tried to state this as simply as possible. Use WP:BRD cycle, now you are edit warring, have violated WP:3RR, and risk being blocked from editing. UrbanNerd (talk) 05:07, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
- How have I done this? Aren't you the one who's changing the edits? I took action and followed this WP:BRD thing you later brought up by discussing it on your talk page. Should this have been done on the article's talk page instead? If yes then my bad. I have never had a problem on this site and I would prefer to work together on this issue rather than bicker at this. I have helped make both the London and 401 articles GAs (good articles) and work with others to make the articles better. If you are going to constantly swap my photo without giving reason (which you did until earlier today) then I felt the only option left to me was to delete my photo. Haljackey (talk) 05:19, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
- The "screw you guys, I'm goin' home" approach isn't the friendliest option to choose from. WP:BRD is not a binding policy at all, and it itself says not to use it as an excuse for edit warring. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 05:38, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

Non-free rationale for File:Simcity 4 Interchange.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Simcity 4 Interchange.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. London Ontario Sister City
[edit]Hi Haljackey - I note you reversed this edit by an IP editor who wiped out the sister city listed in London, Ontario. I saw that person's edit as well, but I left it because I can't find evidence that London and Nanjing are still sister cities. Have you been able to find a reference for this? PKT(alk) 16:45, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
- The London to China website states that we have a sister city, and do did a recent article in the London Free Press. I'll try to source those to back it up. Haljackey (talk) 18:05, 24 November 2011 (UTC)

Main page appearance: Ontario Highway 401
[edit]This is a note to let the main editors of Ontario Highway 401 know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on April 14, 2012. You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/April 14, 2012. If you prefer that the article appear as TFA on a different date, or not at all, please ask featured article director Raul654 (talk · contribs) or his delegate Dabomb87 (talk · contribs), or start a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/requests. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/instructions. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. The blurb as it stands now is below:
Ontario Highway 401 is a 400-series highway in the Canadian province of Ontario stretching from Windsor to the Quebec border. The segment of Highway 401 passing through Toronto is the busiest highway in North America, and one of the widest and busiest in the world. Together with Quebec Autoroute 20, it forms the transportation backbone of the Quebec City–Windsor Corridor, along which over half of Canada's population resides. The entire route is maintained by the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario and patrolled by the Ontario Provincial Police. The posted speed limit is 100 km/h (62 mph) throughout its length. In 2011 construction began on a westward extension of Highway 401. This new route will generally follow, but not replace, former Highway 3 between the current end of the freeway and the E. C. Row Expressway, at which point it will turn and follow that route to a new border crossing. (more...)

Hwy 401 video
[edit]Very nice... if the file size isn't too large, and you can convert it to the Ogg format, you could upload it to enwp/commons and put it directly in the article in place of a photo. The only thing is that you would need freely licensed music (or no soundtrack). Imzadi 1979 → 20:06, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
- Interesting... I'll consider it. My video program cannot make Ogg format, guess I'll need to find a program and a tutorial for it. I'll see what I can do to get free music, if not I'll leave it blank. Haljackey (talk) 20:33, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi there. With this edit you wrote "The Highway 401 extension in Windsor opened in 2015. It is a modern 6 lane below-grade freeway with tunnels that contain greenspace above the road. It will connect to the planned Gordie Howe International Bridge." I made a few changes to the caption, but I'm not sure what you mean when you say it is a "freeway with tunnels that contain greenspace above the road." Did they built the tunnels just to avoid disrupting the greenspace above? Could you please also add a source to support this. Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 15:15, 2 July 2018 (UTC)

[edit]Disambiguation link notification for March 27
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Ontario Highway 401, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Autoroute 20. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
