Bara-Hack a Ghost Town?

Hi HIG-LES. You seem to have some knowledge of Bara-Hack, Connecticut, or at least access to some sources which are not online. Question: Would you consider it a ghost town in any sense of the word? The reason I ask is because it is currently included in List of ghost towns in the United States#Connecticut as well as Category:Ghost towns in Connecticut, and I am wondering whether it really should be. Hi, I do have some, I'm the 5th great grandson of Obediah Higinbotham, I'm hoping to add to this over time, encouraged by having found so much inaccurate information out there. The place does seem to have a history of being one, it might be a shame to take that away, but i also feel bad for the land owners, my mother seems to be under the impression that The Blair Witch Project film was influenced in some way by the place, the preponderance of these paranormal/haunted places websites just makes me roll my eyes, and have only seen one that was worthwhile, just seems odd to cite them for information that is either wrong or not quite right. thank you for your help!HIG-LES (talk) 05:49, 10 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi again, during this week i will write something to replace that particular sentence that will include mention of its haunted nature and the actual event and date that marks its abandonment, i think that citation should be removed as well and be replaced with something a bit more credible, i do have some pieces of documentation and book sources but need to go back and get the info for formal citing, again thanksHIG-LES (talk) 19:04, 10 April 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply. I meant "ghost town" not the in paranormal sense, but in the sense of "an abandoned village, town, or city, usually one that contains substantial visible remains," which is the definition used at the ghost town Wikipedia article. Yilloslime (talk) 19:08, 10 April 2018 (UTC)

Well, there are visible remains, substantial? maybe not. there are lots of rock walls, the stone basement foundations of a small handful of buildings, the sluiceways and manipulations of the river for the mill remain, the cemetery... most of this concerns the Higinbotham land, i'm not sure what's left of the Randalls if anything... this was the land of two families, not so much a town, there are stories of ghosts and people who have claimed to see them and hear things while in the areas woods. the paranormal investigations over the past half century have renewed interest and at some point sparked the numerous websites related to ghost towns/haunted places/ haunted graveyards etc.HIG-LES (talk) 19:54, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
