Thanks for your contributions to the radar article. As a practitioner in the stealth technology field for the past 23 years, I can tell you that carbon fiber structural composites (graphited or not) reflect radar energy because the carbon content is quite high in any structural material utilizing carbon fiber. A layer consisting of a few plies of woven carbon cloth in epoxy is commonly used in place of metallic groundplanes in radar absorbing material.
That said, carbon fiber can lend absorbing properties to a material, but only when the carbon fiber content is sparse. For example, it's common to have a fiberglass/epoxy composite that contains a sparse scattering of carbon fiber between certain plies to facilitate absorption. Chopped carbon fibers (with no continuous conductive path connecting them) distributed through a dielectric binder is another example of a radar absorber using carbon fiber (this is an alternate version of iron ball paint). You don't need much carbon fiber for an absorber. Just one woven cloth layer of carbon fiber is enough to reflect more energy than is absorbed.
For that reason, and also because the expanded details you added to radar violate the undue weight policy of Wikipedia when we already have an article on radar absorbent material, I have deleted the details about carbon fiber in the radar article.
Feel free to include such details in radar absorbent material; however, be sure what you add is correct. I suspect you misunderstood the source you cited, because the text you added contradicts my 20+ years of experience working in this field. Thanks. =Axlq (talk) 17:48, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Eurofighter Typhoon edits
[edit]Hi HDP; I welcome your submissions to this article but I wonder if you would consider using "nesting" techniques with URL citations. This process allows the URL to read properly in the notes section. What you do is place brackets around the URL and put in a title just before the last bracket. Try it, it works (also saves me a lot of revision time). LOL {:¬∆ Bzuk (talk) 18:36, 16 December 2007 (UTC).

Your recent comments
[edit]Lets be real careful here. HDP and those "90." IPs are one and the same person and I can prove it so before we go bandying about who is a sock and who is not I would suggest you be real careful. After the last experience I am not inclined to be patient with people (especially actual socks) making false accusations 90.186.191.130/HDP/91.13.214.135, (Eurocopter tigre ??).Downtrip (talk) 23:51, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit]My background in Engineering being shakey, having dropped out before pursuing a life in academia as well as aviation-related activities, I am passing your recent request for comment along to Jeff Finlayson, a bonafide engineer in the field. [edit]It seems that you have ofended him therfore, causing him to paste tags allover your page. You have no need to worry so long as you dont use the anon ip addres to violate 3RR or other wikipedia policies. Ironicaly Downtrip himself is a proven sock user and has been blocked in the past for it, regards. Freepsbane (talk) 22:04, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

As you may have noticed Downtrip was Indefblocked for the abuse of sock puppets [Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Downtrip]. as a result he vowed to take vengance on those who opposed him he has been using new socks to carry out his attacks. If you encounter any damage caused by downtrip/Wikzilla you are welcome to revert it.Freepsbane (talk) 17:37, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

It’s absurd when IP addresses of one of Wikipedia’s most prolific puppetmasters accuses others ofsockpuppetry without evidence. Besides HDP seems to have more knowledge of engineering than I. hopefully he won’t pay any attention to your Histrionic trolling. Freepsbane (talk) 04:51, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

You have been assigned the Ipblock-exempt flag
[edit]Hi HDP. Unfortunately, I have had to place a rangeblock on one of the IP ranges that you use to edit. However, thanks to our marvelous new IP block exempt feature, I have flagged you as being able to edit through blocks on IPs that you use. So basically, you should notice absolutely no changes. Have fun editing. :) --Deskana (talk) 23:39, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

An Old Fiend Comes back
[edit]Hello it's been a while since I we last spoke. You will find it interesting that shortly after "Downtrip" harased you he was exposed by checkuser (Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Wikzilla) (Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/Downtrip) as a operator of vandal socks and shown to be Wikzilla, a well known vandal. consequent he abandoned his mask and acted out his true colors by unleashing dozens of attack accounts in a unsuccessful attempt to cause chaos in wikipedia. After several weeks of increasingly unsuccessful histrionic attacks Wikzilla apparently gave up in frustration. unfortunately after several months of relative calm our faivorite flight fanboy has shown his signs: Several socks had become active in pages he had previously infested (Fourth generation jet fighter,F22 & [F/A-18E/F Super Hornet]] ). most of the socks have been Found and blocked. However newly created socks like Sfgerdy (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · CA · CheckUser(log) · investigate · cuwiki) are active enough to cause damage before their blocks. you clearly have proficiency in utilising Wikipedia so I would like to ask that you keep an eye for Socks like Sfgerdy and revert any damage they may cause when they rear their ugly heads. Thank you for your time, Freepsbane (talk) 05:46, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
A new acount has just emerged: Dnang (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · CA · CheckUser(log) · investigate · cuwiki), I would be most greatfull if you would assist in keeping him in check until the admins get to him.Freepsbane (talk) 01:04, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Slats and Krueger flaps
[edit]Hello. You've reverted my edit, however without providing an explanation of the differences, despite the placement and aerodymanic effects of the devices being similar. (More info here and here). Please could you expand this article to clear up the differences. Thank you. Socrates2008 (Talk) 11:16, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
The Krueger Flap (sloted or unsloted) is a a flap or tilt nose similar to the Bölkow tilt nose but no slats! The Krueger flap is ailing on the leading edge of the wing on a hinge, the slate (Vorflügel) can fixed or are moveable. The Krueger flap incresase the wing area, curvature and incrase Ca but a slate incrase not direct Ca but rather incrase the abilty of a higher AoA. --HDP (talk) 12:57, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

Su30MKI Radar cross-section
[edit]Thank you for your restoration. For some reason, when I first chased the original citation I pulled up a slightly different version of the Business Standard report; possibly my anti-spam software, set to "Paranoid", refused to allow certain cookies to be loaded, possibly some advertising on the page obscured the relevant paragraph, or possibly (probably) there was finger or eyeball problem on my part. Nevertheless, I believe I should chase this matter. A radar cross-section of twenty square metres fails sanity checks, as I said. It's absurdly large, four times that of the not particularly stealthy Tornado. The source of the quoted figure, "A defence ministry official", covers anything from a Permanent Secretary to lowest-grade public relations dogsbody. HLGallon (talk) 21:38, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
- Su-30MKI 90° alignment on the tailplane and fins caused the cateye effect! Straigt line turbine inlet duct without s-curved shape a big no go! Movable ramps etc. The Su-30MKI is a RCS nightmare and this can't solved with a ton of RAM. --HDP (talk) 06:38, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

Viele Grüße, --Johannes (Talk) (Contribs) (Articles) 00:04, 24 December 2023 (UTC)
