Recent edit to The Circle (2017 film)
[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that you removed some content from The Circle (2017 film) without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; I restored the removed content. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! [edit]Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Shia LaBeouf, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use the sandbox for that. Thank you. Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello Gromfun, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to Johnny Depp filmography have been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Winged Blades Godric 11:20, 25 May 2017 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for February 14
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Joel Edgerton, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Satellite Award for Best Actor (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:44, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
Image without license
[edit]Unspecified source/license for File:RubyRoseMetGala.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:RubyRoseMetGala.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}}
(to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (Talk • Contribs • Owner) 22:45, 18 August 2018 (UTC)

[edit]Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit(s) you made to Sarah Paulson filmography, did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use your sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. LADY LOTUS • TALK 20:06, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
- Please do not add a Directors column to actors filmography- it is not the appropriate place to add the crew. With the film or show linked to it’s own page that’s where users can look up directors, producers, writers, etc. See WP:FILMOGRAPHY and WP:INDISCRIMINATE. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you! LADY LOTUS • TALK 14:13, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Please do not use styles that are nonstandard, unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles, as you did in Isabela Merced. There is a Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. You are now showing a consistent pattern of, 1) improperly using rowspan in Filmography tables in contravention of WP:FILMOGRAPHY, 2) trying to add a 'Director' column to Filmography tables when you were already told that these are inappropriate (e.g. the talk page thread above this one), and 3) worst of all removing valid sourcing from Filmography tables (which should never be done for any reason!). Please stop doing all of these, or there will ultimately be adverse repercussions on you. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 15:40, 17 September 2022 (UTC)
October 2022
[edit]Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Fiona Dourif. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. Alternatively, you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant noticeboards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. You have been warned about this before - adding inappropriate content to filmography tables. If you think you can justify it somehow, start a discussion on the talk page and explain why this article is somewhat different from all other actor articles. And as stated before above, see WP:FILMOGRAPHY and WP:INDISCRIMINATE. Geraldo Perez (talk) 05:09, 11 October 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Please stop your disruptive editing.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant noticeboards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Ruby Rose, you may be blocked from editing. As before, see WP:FILMOGRAPHY and WP:INDISCRIMINATE. If you think it necessary to go against that guidance, start a discussion on the article talk page. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:06, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you make disruptive edits to Wikipedia contrary to the Manual of Style, as you did at Isabelle Fuhrman. Continued WP:FILMOGRAPHY violations as per previous edits. Consider this a final warning. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 04:05, 18 November 2022 (UTC)

[edit]You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you make disruptive edits to Wikipedia contrary to the Manual of Style, as you did at Alexandra Breckenridge. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 18:17, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
Hi Gromfun,
While "WP:FILMOGRAPHY" is not part of the Manual of Style or any community-approved guideline, making the same type of edits again and again without addressing multiple users' objections is disruptive. If you believe that their suggestions are incorrect, you can discuss with them instead of practically edit warring across hundreds of articles.
Best regards,

[edit]Gromfun (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
I see that I have been blocked and was not aware that I was warned that I would be blocked until I looked through my user page. I understand now that the edits I’ve made have been breaking the community guidelines, and for that I apologize. The edits I made I felt were small and didn’t have any affect on the page, but after reading through the guidelines I see that I was wrong. I’m apologize for not reading or respecting it, and I promise it will not happen again. I won’t make any unnecessary editing changes on this sight in the future. Gromfun (talk) 18:59, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
Accept reason:
No worries. Thank you very much for acknowledging that you are now aware of this page here, your talk page. If others complain about your edits here, please take a moment to respond to their messages. Welcome back. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 21:46, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
- This explanation does not hold water. You've been receiving talk page warnings from multiple editors since July 2022 about your Filmography editing. I have also been leaving you clear edit page summaries in my reversions of your edits. Pleading "ignorance" at this point is frankly insulting.
- My opinion is that you should not be unblocked without a pledge to not edit Filmographies for at least... I dunno – 6 months? A year? I don't believe any "I won't do it again" promises from you. We need more iron-clad conditions here before unblocking, and "no Filmography editing" seems like a minimum condition here. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 19:33, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
- @IJBall: it's possible, especially considering they're a mobile editor. See WP:TCHY. DatGuyTalkContribs 19:47, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
- I'm incredibly skeptical of "ignorance of the law" excuses – this assumes that this editor, 1) never saw their own Talk page, and 2) never saw any of the reversion messages given! If the mobile editor is actually so bad that editors are seeing neither of these, then we need to drop support for the mobile app immediately. But I'm pretty sure mobile editors still see reversion messages, so I don't believe this editor was completely ignorant of all of the warnings they were getting. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 19:54, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
- Well, if there had been a law in the first place, upholding the block would be an easier decision. Verifiability issues, neutral point of view violations, biographical problems... None of them.
- Gromfun, the main purpose of the block was to draw your attention to this page here, your talk page, and to require you to acknowledge having read the messages here before being able to continue to edit. The block has thus now served its purpose.
- If others complain about your contributions again, please take the time to respond to their concerns. All the best. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 21:44, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
