Welcome

[edit]

Hello, Grocer, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! New main page draft

[edit]

Hello! I noticed your negative comments regarding the proposed redesign, and I'd like to invite you to review a radically revamped revision, and to post your opinion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Usability/Main Page/Draft#Proposed_version. Thanks! —David Levy 22:00, 15 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Suez / Nile canal Merge

[edit]

Hello, I noticed that you are proposing that the Suez Canal and Nile Canal articles should be merged? Could you elaborate on your justification? If someone proposes that articles should be merged, then I think they should be obliged to justify the proposition with some substance. mgream 08:47, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

James Sauvage

[edit]

I see you have made a change to my article on James Sauvage. However, your change is not justified, as his name at birth was James SAVAGE (I have a copy of his birth certificate and also the complete family history!). As I have explained in the article, he introduced the spelling SAUVAGE later in life when he became a professional musician. Therefore I have reverted back to my original spellings. --Maelor 12:08, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You restored a prod tag with an edit summary of "don't remove the tag". Actually, as the notice says, the tag should be removed if someone objects to the deletion. Prod is intended for uncontroversial deletions only. See Wikipedia:Proposed deletion#What this process is NOT for. I'm removing the prod tag. If you think the article ought to be deleted, please send it thru AfD for consensus. NickelShoe 16:20, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

edit summaries

[edit]

Hi, Grocer, and welcome to Wikipedia. I have a request: when you edit a page, there's a box at the bottom labeled "edit summary." Please enter a short summary of your edit in that box before you save. It makes it easier for people who are watching the Recent Changes page. Also, when you add the {{PROD}} tag to a page, please enter a reason for the nomination. Thanks. Joyous | Talk 00:42, 3 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've delisted Robey Pointer from CSD, it hints at notability, as eggdrop is a hugely deployed irc program. It looks like you originally were going to list this on AfD, and if you still think it needs to be deleted, I'd suggest relisting on AfD. Thanks, xaosflux Talk/CVU 02:39, 6 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the heads up on the new afd listing. I am not going to vote either way, other then that I don't feel it should be speedily deleted. -- xaosflux Talk/CVU 03:02, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for tagging P&I club for speedy deletion as a copyright violation. However, I regret to advise you that I have had to remove the speedy deletion notice. Only articles that have existed for 48 hours or less can be speedily deleted this way, whereas P&I club has existed for nearly ten months. Stifle 09:38, 15 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Pile merge

[edit]

Did you copy over the non-duplicated info from the source page (The Pile)? I don't have a problem if you did not, I will add myself to the World Trade Center site patsw 16:29, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I put this on AFD, and since you prodded it I just wanted to give you a head's up. Share your thoughts in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Divehi Wikipedia. EdGl 21:24, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect of Gotz Widmann

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Gotz Widmann, by M.L (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Gotz Widmann is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Gotz Widmann, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 05:06, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Bushido_rapper.jpg

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Bushido_rapper.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 16:43, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
