  • In this edit, you inserted multiple reference to "compact states" as being "states that are circular with the capitol in the center". I am not sure what you meant by doing this. References to "compact states" in any context refer to a compact as an agreement, not a designation of size or shape. The real issue is that some people are taking references to "freely associated compact states", referring to Marshall Islands, Palau, and the Federated States of Micronesia, which have each entered into compacts (agreements) with the United States, as referring to the 50 states, presumably under the premise that the "compact" under consideration is the United States Constitution. But nobody in this dispute is arguing that citizens of, say, Ohio (which is relatively compact in terms of shape, and has its capital near the center of the state) and Florida (which is irregularly shaped and has its capital in its northwestern panhandle) have different rights because of the shape of their states. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 17:36, 20 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
