What? I haven't edited Western Sahara for over a month. -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 02:42, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Right Well, if you want to get in the middle of it, you're welcome. See Talk:Legal status of Western Sahara for the kind of shenanigans you're in for, though (e.g. books aren't valid sources!) -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 02:45, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Wars of User Koavf

[edit]
Hi Gribeco.
  • You put a warning on edit wars on my talk page and the one of koavf.
  • I was away, and see, Koavf has found other people edit war.
  • Special:Contributions/Koavf Check, I have counted 8 reverts only for Sep 3rd on the Western Sahara topic.
  • Please be aware that Koavf is on parole after he had been blocked on indefinite. He can only revert once a day (which he already broke sevral times) otherweise you would see 8 x 3 = 24 reverts at least.
  • You may want to take action.
Thanks - wikima 18:32, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Gribeco
  • Any news on this?
  • I would like to know how you are going to further proceed with this.
  • If you don't react until next Friday I will consider that you just ignore the topic
  • Subsequently I will ignore your intial warning and remove it as rejected by yourself.
Thanks - wikima 18:31, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The message is a warning to stop revert-warring each other. If reverts continue, I will notify the admins. I am not offering my own services as a honest broker, because I can be accused of bias. Thank you for participating constructively. --Gribeco 18:42, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks for your reaction.
  • Now, do you have an answer on what I have written to you above?
Thanks - wikima 19:07, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My warning stands. I do not intend to take any other action as long as there are no more revert wars on this article. I suggest you work out your differences with Koavf in good faith, with the help of a neutral broker (e.g. Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal). Thanks. --Gribeco 04:25, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • I know all that, thanks.
  • If you want to resolve a problem look at it as a whole and deal with it at the roots.
Thanks - wikima 11:08, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Méssage de Nathanaël Olha Palpatin !

[edit]

Hi, I just realized that you reverted my edit to Sino-Roman relations. I have made that edit (and similar articles at a number of other pages) because nothing of this expedition is mentioned (or at least I was unable to locate it) in either the relevant volume of The Cambridge History of China, or The Cambridge History of Early Inner Asia, or Rene Grousset's The Empire of the Steppes. If I interpret the map shown at zh:班超 correctly, this claim also does not seem to appear on the Chinese wikipage about Ban Chao. That all makes a bit curious what exactly Miss Woods writes, and also what her sources are. I am sure you can help me out? Regards, Yaan (talk) 16:25, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"this is only true when a general-purpose operating system is also used"

[edit]

Could you elaborate? What is "this" referring to (the text or my summary)? Regards, HenkeB (talk) 16:01, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

On many embedded devices, e.g. iPods or wireless routers, firmware includes the entire device functionality. It's only basic/rudimentary when it's used to start another piece of software with more functionality, most likely a general-purpose operating system. It'd also be truer for tiny devices (e.g. 8-bit microcontrollers). --gribeco (talk) 02:05, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you read it carefully, it says firmware is "involved with" not "exclusively involved with". The firmware in an iPod certainly performs low level tasks (such as scanning of buttons and displays etc) in addition to the higher level tasks. Most simple embedded systems are actually still based on 8-bit microcontrollers, and advanced end user products (such as routers) often contain firmware on several levels: the lowest level support functions (whether in separate chips or integrated) have their own (fixed) firmware, while the central microprocessor has its code and data in a flash memory that is often possible to update. That contents is therefore sometimes on the border between firmware and software, and programs that are really optional and easily replaceable by the user (such as in mobile phones and many graphical calculators) should be regarded as software.

Products typically controlled by 8-bit systems include appliances, toys, remotes, small mp3 players, pc-keyboards, flash-cards, etc, all typical embedded systems where the firmware is heavily involved in the fundamental operation of the device. Blocked on French Wikipedia

Some people might not understand what obscenity could occur behind the curtains, and the bots might not be programmed to detect them. However, in this case, Cobi′s script known as ClueBot would be allowed to monitor French Wikipedia articles related to English, and Salebot would be allowed to monitor English Wikipedia articles related to French. In this case, though, their template messages would be displayed in the other languages. Just an idea to keep the lingo clean. mechamind90 03:46, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Salebot already knows some English expressions (stolen from ClueBot a long while ago, if I remember correctly). Is French-language vandalism really a problem on the English Wikipedia? --gribeco (talk) 19:04, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Gribeco, it seems you blocked me on the French Wikipedia because of an "open proxy" (proxy ouvert). My IP adress is 81.244.85.223 and my blocking number is #51740. Could you fix this? Thanks. Gr, Wikifalcon (talk) 19:05, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sam Hocevar

[edit]

It seems you have bias towards my edits on Sam Hocevar's wikipedia page. Sam leads a life as a productive member of open-source community but in his spare time, does everything to spoil F/OSS contributions by being the #2 in command of the GNAA, which all of you on Wikipedia know what they are involved in. You can see for yourself by going on irc.hardchats.com #gnaa - there's a fellow by the name of sam in there! Send him a private message and confirm that it is, actually Sam Hocevar.

For you to blindly undo my changes to his article pretty much confirmed what I have heard of Wikipedia - it's a small group of obsessed people trying to control the flow of information. I'm asking you politely to halt your unnecessary edit war of his page.

Thank you —Preceding unsigned comment added by KennethFister (talkcontribs) 15:51, 10 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox notes

[edit]

In regards to your question in your edit summary of Morocco, if you wish for a note to appear in an infobox but not break it, you can use the reference label template. For example, the infobox of Malaysia currently uses these sort of notes. However, as you noted in another edit summary the infobox doesn't include the western sahara, so the reference you removed may be redundant to this now anyway! Hi! We're dropping you this rather unexpected message on your talk page because you signed up (either quite a while ago or rather recently) to be a member of the Vandalism Studies project. Sadly, the project fell into semi-retirement a few years ago, but as part of a new plan to fix up the Counter-Vandalism Unit, we're bringing back the Vandalism Studies project, with a new study planned for Late 2012! But we need your help. Are you still interested in working with us on this project? Then please sign up today! (even if you signed up previously, you'll still need to sign up again - we're redoing our member list in order to not harass those who are no longer active on the Wiki - sorry!) If you have any questions, please leave them on this page. Thanks, and we can't wait to bring the project back to life! -Theopolisme (talk) & Dan653 (talk), Coordinators

Mosman House pic by Gribeco

Hi! Thanks for uploading your nice pic for Peter Anderson House and other NRHP-listed places in Fort Collins, CO, today. I don't know if you might just be participating in the Wikipedia Loves Monuments program? and it is merely coincidence that I just started the Peter Anderson House article just yesterday. Or if you happened to notice that I was working at developing articles related to architect Montezuma Fuller.... Anyhow, thanks for the great pics! And please do feel free to contribute to expanding the Fuller-related articles such as Mosman House, if you like, which you could do by drawing from the linked NRHP nom documents or by adding other sources.
