Article Revert and deletion of K.Visalini page
Hi Greyjoy..
I am new to wiki but, please understand that, my wiki page is under edit (by me). First many wrong info about me is being added in my page without my concern. Let it my open for edit from anyone throughout the web.. But, no one has the right to promote wrong content on me.
If you need any resource or reference then please provide me some more time so that I can submit. But, majority of internet users visit wiki page on me, that is why I am here.
First of all, my name is being misspelled by anonymous internet users. See the name about my picture. It is misspelled. There are many wrong infos in the current edit version which you have restored.
These wrong information is hurting bad in my career and personal life. Many people visit my wiki page and either call or mail me, with questions that hurts me badly.
Please understand, I will not provide any wrong info on me. Secondly, no one better knows my about me compared to myself. I have confidential information about me which should not be disclosed as directed by the Government.
I did not create this page, but I request you to help to either gain control of it such that no one edits it further or Delete my wiki page as a whole so that, no one can find it anymore.
Please understand. I don't want bogus info in my wiki page to wound my career, the projection should only boost not destroy my career.
If you need references, then I will provide it. But, I need admin privilege. Please help me gain it.
I am not here to boast, just to make sure reliable info is available.
Regards, Visalini
- Visalini, I would strongly recommend reading Wikipedia's conflict of interest guideline as editing articles about yourself is strongly discouraged. If there are changes that you wish to propose you can do so on the article's talk page, how ever information needs to be verifiable from reliable sources. Individual users can not be given control over pages, or given admin privileges for these pages. I hope this has helped. Greyjoy talk 06:20, 9 January 2019 (UTC)

Article revert of Heartbeat (DJ Debayan Official Album)
Sir, I am a new Wikipedia editor and I am thoroughly aware of the "notability" requirements for a wikipedia article. Since this is a new article which I started creating few days back is my first article on a popular music album. Although the music artist who created this album have no wikipedia page, I also want to create a page on him. Already many Indian wikipedians had created a biography article on DJ Debayan Official, but they were unfortunately deleted from Wikipedia. Thus it is my request to you that instead of proposing articles for deletion, you all can collect more information about the topics and add them to the articles which are lacking information (maybe mine is one of that). Hope you will not dishearten me.
- Rakeshsharma12345, before nominating the article for deletion I attempted to find reliable sources which showed the album's notability but was unable to find any, which is why I nominated it for deletion. Greyjoy talk 07:17, 16 January 2019 (UTC)
Titumir Editing
Hi, Thanks for your message. I found content in that page quite controversial. Titumir is widely known as a freedom fighter and is respected by all communities. The reference (number 2) for the criticism of Titumir is not credible at all. Also, the contents in the page are conflicting since his good image has been mentioned in several places. Therefore, it looks quite ambiguous when both positive and negative points about a person are mixed in the same paragraph. If there is a credible source about the negative points then a separate section "controversy" can be added at the end similar to what we see in other Wikipedia pages. — Preceding unsigned comment added by L.Amin.13 (talk • contribs) 07:43, 29 January 2019 (UTC)

Model Christian College Kohima
Dear Greyjoy,
How's it going? The previous description about the College was incorrect. I took the liberty of updating it with new information not knowing that I needed to explain broadly as to why the changes were being made. Would you please update the new changes?
Thank You so much.
Ameliamerryariicho (talk) 06:16, 15 February 2019 (UTC)Model Christian College is a Christian College located in Kohima, Nagaland, India.
The college was established in 2007 by Arücho Society for Human Transformation and Research, Kohima. It is affiliated with Nagaland University. MCC is accredited by NAAC with a rating of B++. MCC strives to impart quality education to produce intellectually competent, spiritually and morally upright individuals, socially committed men and women in the service of the society. The Campus boasts of cutting-edge facilities that include smart classrooms, free campus Wi-Fi, laboratories, library, healthcare, sport facilities, cafeteria and lounge areas for the students.
- Ameliamerryariicho, the primary reason your changes were reverted is because they are unreferenced. Wikipedia requires reliable sources, and your edit removed multiple references. Greyjoy talk 06:18, 15 February 2019 (UTC)
Why can't we have forex companies name in Foreign Exchange Company?
Hi Greyjoy,
I made a few edits on 'Foreign Exchange Company' wiki page - India section. The changes were removed as you messaged.
However, I have one question. How come the name of 'Foreign Exchange Companies' is irrelevant to the topic? We have already included UK based foreign exchange companies name & links then why can't we include Indian Foreign Exchange companies name as well? These companies are relevant & related to the topic. In fact, we should include a few foreign exchange companies for all the countries.
I will request you to kindly accept the changes I made.
Thank you for your help :) Hope to learn a lot from you with regards to wiki in the future. Shrishti21 (talk) 12:16, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
- Shrishti21, as explained in my edit summary and the message on your talk page the issue is that you are including external links in the body of the article. We try and avoid using external links in articles. Also I am reverting your latest edit due to the table being the "Top Foreign Exchange Companies in India". Top based on what? Also you have not provided any sources to indicate that these are the top companies. Greyjoy talk 12:49, 18 February 2019 (UTC)

Australian greens are a left-wing political party based on ideology and policy. Can you provide your reasoning for the centre-left edit. Left -wing is a fair assessment thanks
- 106.71.197.175, as explained in my edit summaries; I reverted your edits as there is currently a discussion taking place on the article's talk page and a consensus is needed to make this change. Dear Greyjoy,
I`am official representative of SABAH Footbal Club. All informations that added by me is approved with club officials. Please do not delete the informations. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Piriyevparvin (talk • contribs) 09:31, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
Hello Greyjoy,
Thanks for your information. But there are no any conflict of interests. Because my goal is writing the information that will help other people to get correct information about Sabah FC. Informations that mentioned in current page is very short. It is not informative. And some informations is incorrect. I think we should work together that help people to get correct information. It is my first wikipedia experience. That is why I do not know exact rules or regulations. The informations which written before my edit is incorrect and very short. That is why please help me to create correct version. There are no any personal opinion that will leadd to conflict of interests. It is just facts about club which you can find in their site yourself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Piriyevparvin (talk • contribs) 13:21, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
- Piriyevparvin, writing about a club which you are the "official representative" of is a COI. You will need to follow the COI guidelines as explained on your talk page. In addition there are multiple issues with the version that you keep reverting to, you have provided no reliable references (and are removing references) and you are adding external links to the body of the article, both of which are against Wikipedia's guidelines. Please stop trying to revert to this edit. Greyjoy talk 19:03, 9 April 2019 (UTC)
Greyjoy talk, I kindly requested that you can do it if I can`t. You have used site of PFL.az, affa.az and facebook page of club. If it is ok, why did not you accept the site of https://sabahfc.az/ as a references? What kind of source you need for approving the infomrations?
- Piriyevparvin, I have removed the external links from the article. With references it is best to find non-primary references (references not from the FC itself), you might want to take a look at Wikipedia's referencing requirements and guidelines. References are most useful when inline and not just collected at the end of the article. Greyjoy talk 05:38, 11 April 2019 (UTC)
Greyjoy talk ok. Thanks for your help. I will do it. Big thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Piriyevparvin (talk • contribs) 13:03, 11 April 2019 (UTC)
Need to establish an article on 'Document Verification'
Hello Greyjoy,
Greetings.
I am a recent wiki editor and closely follow the 'Identity Verification Service' and 'Know Your Customer' pages on Wikipedia. I make edits where possible, ensure the correctness of the information and add relevant content where ever necessary. In my observation, I witnessed a page specific for 'Document Verification' is not on Wikipedia. It holds crucial importance and is an important verification procedure. It can be helpful for the encyclopedia to have an article on this, which can be internally linked to other pages for relevancy. What would be the way of creating an article for the first time, either through Sandbox or an article creation wizard? for the said subject.
Do I need to have certain privileges or request to another senior editor? If an article does not really cross more than a few lines, is there still a need still for a valid resource.
It would be great if you could help me out with these questions. thank you (Grevision (talk) 07:25, 18 April 2019 (UTC))
- Grevision I recommend the Article Wizard. It will help guide you through the process for article creation. Wikipedia always requires reliable sources. Greyjoy talk 07:32, 18 April 2019 (UTC)

Free Gardeners
Hi there,
As you may well have established I am new to editing Wikipedia, so thanks for the guidance.
The changes that I made to the Free Gardeners home page, I hope can be inserted again, I am only interested in providing contact details so persons can contact us if they wish. How do I know all this - I am the current Most Worshipful Past Grand Master of eth Free Gardeners.
My Insertion for your approval is thus:
The Free Gardeners, Victoria Lodge No. 1, still meet every Second Wednesday of the month except January and December in Box Hill Victoria. This Lodge is the oldest Grand Lodge in the World dating back to 1864. We can be contacted at 'guofgvic1@gmail.com' if you have old memorabilia or are interested in joining our fraternity. Our meetings are still held and operated as a fully functioning Lodge, keeping alive the ritualistic aspects. We are continuing to grow at a steady pace with three new candidates being initiated last month ( April 2019).
Please let me know what if further is required,
Kind regards
Peter
Past Grand Master (talk) 05:56, 24 April 2019 (UTC)
- Past Grand Master, thank you for taking the time to explain your edits. Wikipedia is not the right place to provide contact details for an organisation as per WP:NOTYELLOW. As mentioned in the welcome message on your talk page you should not be editing articles which you are directly involved in. Due to the content of the suggested edit (including a contact email and meeting times) and the lack of reliable verifiable references I am not going to include this suggested edit. Greyjoy talk 06:00, 24 April 2019 (UTC)
Regarding a article
Hi Greyjoy, can you revert back again the edits made by IP users on Banjara page. Too many people are coming and deleting the content, I think we need to figure this out. MRRaja001 (talk) 11:16, 25 April 2019 (UTC)

Australian Better Families Party Wikipedia is completely incorrect
The changes you have reverted back to are incorrect. Inter alia It is not a men’s rights ideology. Claude1980Meir (talk) 21:52, 27 April 2019 (UTC)
- Claude1980Meir, you will need to discuss and reach a consensus on the article talk page. Also as you are a member of the executive for the Australian Better Families Party you should follow Wikipedia's conflict of interest editing guidelines. Greyjoy talk 00:09, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
Hi Greyjoy, thank you for your insight and advice. The page has been so unfairly edited. This is reflecting poorly and may result in prejudice in the imminent election. Are you able to lock in the changes I have made. I apologise for making the amendments without consult to a proposed amendments request as you have appropriately outlined.
Thank you in advance. Claude1980Meir (talk) 00:32, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
Please remove the ideology “Men’s Rights” as this is entirely incorrect. The ideology should read “Centre conservative and Australian Families First” Claude1980Meir (talk) 00:41, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
- Claude1980Meir I will not be removing the ideology as a consensus was reached on the article's talk page and references have been provided. If you wish to discuss it further you can leave a message at the article talk page, as that is the best place to discuss changes to the article. Greyjoy talk 00:58, 28 April 2019 (UTC)

Hello Greyjoy,
My group is currently editing the wikipedia page for a group project for our ethnic studies class, we'd greatly appreciate it if you could refrain from making changes to the article page until the 23rd of May if possible.
Thank you,
Aarhs
- Aarhs, some of the edits you made (the ones I changed) failed to meet Wikipedia's requirements for reliable sources and did not meet Wikipedia's manual of style requirements. An article can not be reserved for a period of time and while editing you will need to work alongside other editors. Greyjoy talk 02:59, 18 May 2019 (UTC)
Regarding a article
Can you please revert to this version, lot of vandalism is going on in this page, Thanks MRRaja001 (talk) 08:42, 25 May 2019 (UTC)
- MRRaja001, is there any reason that you are unable to revert back to that version? The removal appears to be in good faith and the editor has requested discussion at the article talk page so I will not be making this revert. Greyjoy talk 05:10, 27 May 2019 (UTC)
mohamad khalife page
I would like to make the changes needed to Mohamad Khlaife Wikipedia page since the content of the current one doesn't reflect the person in question. I have the consent of Mohamad Khalife for the changes I want to make.
Rola Nasrallah — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rolanasrallah (talk • contribs) 10:48, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
- Rolanasrallah, the reason I have reverted your edits is because you are not providing any sources, Wikipedia requires reliable sources. Especially when discussing living people. If you know Mohamad Khalife you should also familiarize yourself with COI editing requirements. 331dot has explained further on your talk page. Greyjoy talk 11:16, 29 May 2019 (UTC)

Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust page
Please stop can you stop changing reverting our page back to the original. You keep saying it's too promotional but the text simply outlines what the objectives of the charity are and it's impact. It is fact based and an update to information that was extremely out of date. I cannot see where it breaches the terms you directed me too at all. If you have any specific recommendations about bits of copy/links then please let me know but otherwise I am at a loss how to update the information. The page was years out of date and needed a complete overhaul. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Karenza Morton (talk • contribs) 11:29, 5 July 2019 (UTC)
- Karenza Morton your edits clearly have a promotional tone and looks like an advertisement masquerading as an article. While updating an article is excellent it needs to be referenced with reliable third party sources. Above you say "stop changing reverting our page", are you connected to the trust at all? If you continue to post promotional text on Wikipedia you run the risk of losing the ability to edit. About Khadija Page
Hello bro i am confusing i dont know where i can contact you please if u need fully reference check it this link https://somaliembassy.pk/ambassadors-biography/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kalafogeteam (talk • contribs)
- Kalafogeteam, this is the best place to contact me. As explained on your talk page there are several problems with your edit (which is why it gets reverted). You appear to have copied and pasted most of the information from https://somaliembassy.pk/ambassadors-biography/, thats a copyright problem. Wikipedia can't use text copied from other websites. Also you have stated that you are her secretary, this means you have a conflict of interest and should follow the COI guidelines and not edit the page. Please stop just adding back the changes that are removed because if you continue to do so you risk losing the ability to edit Wikipedia. Greyjoy talk 11:34, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
@Greyjoy we can prove everything her current status you can check her page https://www.facebook.com/Ambassadorkhadija/ she is my parent and am her secretary please let me know how can we post her current status because the changes i made its 2016 while she was Ambassador in Iraq now she is Ambassador in Pakistan so we want all users get current status, Thanks Bro
- Kalafogeteam facebook is not a reliable source for Wikipedia, I am going to revert your edit back but tomorrow when I am back on Wikipedia I will look into updating Khadija's article with more recent information and reliable sources. If I have any questions I will message you on your talk page, I am going to ask that you stop editing the page directly due to your conflict of interest. Greyjoy talk 11:41, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
GreyJoy So kindly am asking you which reference can we use because if you revert back and told me not to correct what should we do because that data is 2016 data and now changes her position just help to us what can we do, Thanks @Grayjoy
- Kalafogeteam, I have started to update the page in a way that complies with Wikipedia's requirements. I will let you know (probably tomorrow) when I have finished and you can let me know if you think there is anything important missing (that you have references for). Greyjoy talk 11:48, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
Ok anything you need at anytime you can let me know so untill tomorrow please can u revert back current edit and her position because she need to take part new election that is why we need current position anything about references you ask me i will provide it
- Kalafogeteam I will not revert back to the version with copyright violations, if you look at her article you will see that it says she is the Ambassador to Pakistan, do not edit the article further. If you continue to edit with your COI you risk losing the ability to edit Wikipedia. Greyjoy talk 11:53, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
- Grayjoy the content you said copyright from other website its just from her current website but any way i will remove that copyright section and i will write it fresh content will it be ok

Tommy Talau
Hey I noticed you put the deletion back on Tommy Talau. The guy is due to make his debut in the NRL this Friday therefore he is notable as per Wikipedia Rugby league.Getmefood (talk) 09:22, 13 August 2019 (UTC)
- Getmefood my revert of you removing the speedy delete tag was based purely on Wikipedia's rules for speedy deletion and not on the article itself. If Talau meets the notability requirements a reviewing admin will remove the deletion tag. I can see that you have now argued for keeping the article on the article's talk page, this is the correct way of dealing with a speedy deletion nomination. Side note, a person is considered notable as per Wikipedia Rugby league once they have appeared in at least one match, so this one might be the smallest bit too soon. But it probably won't be speedy deleted imho. Greyjoy talk 09:27, 13 August 2019 (UTC)

Gary Allen page
Hello! Regarding the Gary Allen article, you’ve deleted many of the convenience links and links I contributed to works legally hosted at Internet Archive, so I undid your edit because of my understanding that might have been a mistake. If there any particular links that I overlooked that are inappropriate I would be happy to delete them. I’m more than happy to work with you to resolve this! Just curious to know why they were deleted. Thanks. Neighborhood Nationalist (talk) 08:40, 19 August 2019 (UTC)
- Neighborhood Nationalist, I had removed the collection of external links as per Wikipedia:External links as it seems like an unnecessarily large collection of external links outside of the external links section. I decided to be bold and remove them, however I can't say I feel strongly about it and am content enough to leave it. Greyjoy talk 09:19, 19 August 2019 (UTC)
- Greyjoy, I appreciate it my friend! It’s funny that you say that, because I actually came across the be bold article for the first time yesterday, and had that it mind when I decided to reach out to you. I’d like to mention that I do recognize your concern for an abundance of external links, and I restrict my addition of them to the bibliography section! Thank you again for kindly allowing my contribution to stay. Neighborhood Nationalist (talk) 09:34, 19 August 2019 (UTC)

Tagging
Hi. There are literally tens of thousands of film articles with no plot. It adds nothing to tag aricles with that tag, as virtually no-one actions it. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:23, 19 September 2019 (UTC)
- Lugnuts, at least if it is tagged it can be easily found by those who would be able to add a plot. The films I have tagged are ones that I can not write a decent plot summary for due to the lack of information I have available for them, so at least this way there is a chance that someone who is more familiar with these films might be able to improve the article. I fail to see how the number of articles is relevant, if that is the case we might as well delete the template. In regards for your justification for reverting the edits themselves driveby appears to refer primarily to tags added for ""non-obvious or perceived problems—without identifying the problem well enough for it to be easily fixed", which does not appear to be the case here. Hi Greyjoy..
Hi Greyjoy.. I have a doubt
Heading text

- Sriramlathish I am sorry but I do not understand your question. Greyjoy talk 20:25, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
My Question is one of the page [Khan] has been deleted from wikipedia and I want to know why it got removed/ deleted as all referral sources also placed. So that I ill get knowledge on that about why it was deleted — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sriramlathish (talk • contribs) 08:06, 18 October 2019 (UTC)
- Sriramlathish, looks like Toufeeq Khan was nominated for deletion due to not meeting Wikipedia's notability requirements. I wasn't involved in the process so this is just what I can see at a quick glance. Greyjoy talk 08:18, 18 October 2019 (UTC)
Phantom Doctrine
Hi!
Since I'm not supposed to use bold/italic, how can I highlight/point out certain things within the text (like heat, awareness, and so on)?
Peter Clark reference was removed since the same thing exists in the other two references. In all honesty, I've only used references/sources since English is not my primary language, so in terms of "better writing" I've used those as help.
Oliver Holmes reference was removed since his article is not worth mentioning, let alone using as a reference source. PD has more differences than similarities with XCOM.
"Sometimes, you’ll open a door to peek into a room and find it clear, but when you walk in two foes appear out of nowhere." - he clearly doesn't understand the mechanics in those types of games; room FoW is one thing while character LoS is another.
"The overhead view makes it..." - overhead view and isometric view are not the same things, PD is isometric. And so on... I could dissect every sentence in this review and point out a bunch of things that are either wrong or show that he just dosen't understand the core game mechanics.
BTW thanks for the welcome.
DerekBP (talk) 18:13, 5 November 2019 (UTC)DerekBP
- DerekBP, those sections of text to not seem to require emphasis to be added. The sources you have added are primary sources published by the game company, Wikipedia prefers to use secondary sources that are not directly connected to the product itself, this is why I have added back some of the previous references such as Peter Clark. Holmes is being used to reference a sentence in the Hideout section, which is unrelated to the quotes that you have provided above. Greyjoy talk 06:43, 14 November 2019 (UTC)
Undo of Non-English Edits
Hi Greyjoy! Just wanted to publicly say thank you for jumping on the undo of edit "926287393". by SimbaZ81. I am the creator of Ann Walker of Lightcliffe article and am still working on enhancing the article to meet Writing better articles and The perfect article standards. I am aware of some of the translations in progress, but was totally surprised to see the recent revision. I have someone in my group trying to make contact with the volunteer assigned to do the translation. The volunteer may or may not be the user who made the change. Thank you so much for your quick action. Very much appreciated! Kimdorris (talk) 18:53, 15 November 2019 (UTC)
Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!
Hello,
Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.
I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!
From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.
If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.
Thank you!

Marcus Schrenker
Hi Greyjoy. I am a criminal justice professor and spent considerable time correcting the Marcus Schrenker page last night. I noticed you completely undid all I did to make it accurate. Is there a reason you did that?
- As explained in my edit summary you removed references to reliable sources (as considered by Wikipedia) and added unsourced information. Greyjoy talk 13:20, 27 November 2019 (UTC)
Hi Greyjoy. I am a criminal justice professor. I have been researching the Marcus Schrenker article and have some grave concerns about your recent changes. I updated what I saw as glaring inaccuracies a week ago but there were all undone. This article is static and poorly sourced. It uses the media, most of which are sensational, to create a dated narrative that seems highly biased. It reads like a hate blog. In my experience writing about people that have broken the law, it is best to talk about the life before crime, the violation, and what they are doing today. These sources are over then years old and are not good ones at that. NPOV. For example, saying he is best known for whatever is opinion. We can state what he did but saying he is best known for something is our own opinion and probably not accurate. I did some research on him and found he has actually started many foundations to help kids in trouble. He is a pastor. He has done a lot with his life. The article does not mention any of these issues which leads me to believe there is something else going on here. Let me give you a few of the glaring inaccuracies: for example there is no Federal Parole and he wasn't convicted in Florida. He was convicted in the State of Indiana and on a Federal level. Other issues: he didn't own a home in Indianapolis or Geist. He didn't own the aircraft. The article states "his" as if he possessed it. If you examine the clerk records of the county you will find he didn't own a home in Indiana. In fact, his drivers license was Florida. He owned a home in Destin. The inaccuracies just go on and on and on. Maybe it would be best to just delete the page if we can't tell a truthful objective story. This has been frustrating to me because I've attempted to correct, and at times erase, the bad information and it just goes back to the same negative narrative. My other concern is that the contributors may be related to him or possibly victims of his crime. They want to tell their version of the story instead of the truthful version. Anytime I see a story, especially a biography, that relies on sensational sources, I grow concerned the true intent of the publication.

- You are correct, the article is based primarily upon what is reported in the media. The sources used in the article are reliable sources as decided by Wikipedia. Many of the changes you have attempted to impliment have been reverted because you have not provided references for them.Greyjoy talk 04:41, 1 December 2019 (UTC)
About External Links
Hi Greyjoy,
I hope all is well with you!
I have got your message about the removal of my links and they were being inappropriate. I am not sure exactly what was inappropriate about them. Because I read guidelines and to my understanding, I was replacing them with very identical topics/articles on a commercial real estate site that I own and operate.
My intention is not to violate the guidelines at all. I was just replacing dead links.
I would appreciate your feedback as to what exactly was inappropriate about the links and I can be more careful next time.
Thanks, Kevin — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kaplank (talk • contribs) 03:30, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
- Kaplank, the link you inserted is not considered a reliable source for Wikipedia articles and comes across as advertising. You are especially not allowed to repeatedly insert a link to a website that you own as this is a conflict of interest. Greyjoy talk 03:34, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
Well, obviously Wikipedia's guidelines contradict with conflict-of-interest terms. According to the guidelines, it was OK. But according to conflict-of-interest, it wasn't. Go figure...
Here it is in Wikipedia's own word.
Guidelines What to link:
There are several things that should be considered when adding an external link.
Is the site content accessible to the reader? Is the site content proper in the context of the article (useful, tasteful, informative, factual, etc.)? Is the link functioning and likely to remain functional?
What can normally be linked:
1-Wikipedia articles about any organization, person, website, or other entity should link to the subject's official site, if any. See § Official links.
Advertising and conflicts of interest:
It is obvious that a link from Wikipedia to an external site may drive Web traffic to that site. But in line with Wikipedia policies, you should avoid linking to a site that you own, maintain, or represent—even if Wikipedia guidelines seem to imply that it may otherwise be linked. When in doubt, you may go to the talk page and let another editor decide. This suggestion is in line with Wikipedia's conflict-of-interest guidelines. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kaplank (talk • contribs) 04:03, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
- Kaplank this doesn't address the issue that the external links you are adding do not support the statements they are meant to be acting as references for, here for example the reference in the "Founding and early history" section supports the origin of the Blackstone Group's name. You replaced it with a link to your company which does not seem at all related to the statement it is meant to be referencing. (Also please sign talk page messages with 4 ~ at the end of your message.) Greyjoy talk 04:10, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
Question reg. the recent edits of a user
Hey, recently I have noticed a user with the name Koreangauteng, who seems to quick-edit entire sections without providing secondary sources. Some of the contents seemed to suggest a highly POV approach to the causa. After checking the provided sources I noticed apologetic- & ex-muslim-pages. Ironically in one of the sources amazon.com was provided as a source mixed with US-news articles by journalists. I can not say if it is just me, as I'm quiet busy right now, but this seems problematic to me. I may give it a closer look once I find the time to hit the university-library. May I ask your opinion reg this causa?
Thanks in advance!
With regards. AshleighHanley82 (talk) 08:37, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
- AshleighHanley82 at a quick glance some of the edits do seem possibly problematic however the area Koreangauteng is editing in is not a topic I have a large area of knowledge in. At a quick glimpse some of the sources certainly seem non-reliable but some of the others are more on the fence. You might want to consider discussing the choice of sources with the editor on their talk page. Greyjoy talk 09:33, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
Thank you very much for the intel. Much appreciated. AshleighHanley82 —Preceding undated comment added 11:49, 6 December 2019 (UTC)
