Please do not add commercial links or links to your own private websites to Wikipedia, as you did in Mobile Search. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links as long as the content abides by our policies and guidelines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thanks. --AbsolutDan (talk) 04:28, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for your message on my talk page. There's really 3 major guidelines that I go by when determining whether or not a link should be removed. First, as a whole, WP:NOT - specifically, Wikipedia is not a "repository of links". This means that articles should not be fed external links simply because those links are related to the topic. In other words, Wikipedia is not the yellow pages. Next, WP:EL: this guideline indicates the types of links that should be included. I won't even try to cover all of WP:EL's criteria here, but in a nutshell external links should primarily contain knowledge that adds to the content of that article. Lastly, WP:SPAM: this describes what sorts of linking is considered spamming. Adding the same link or links to multiple articles raises a major red flag with spam fighters such as myself.
- If you think an external link would be useful for an article, but you think it might be controversial in nature or potentially violate one of these guidelines, it's best to bring it up on the article's talk page first. I see you've started a conversation on one of those articles - that's the best approach.
- Just because a link or links already exists doesn't mean that they are appropriate or even accepted. A concensus on the talk page of an article is what lends legitimacy to an external link, not it's mere existence. Regarding the other links you mentioned, I agree that those are inappropriate as well, and I have removed them. Thank you for bring that to my attention. If you run into other such unnecessary links in the future, feel free to remove them yourself -- or if you are unsure, you can mention them on the article's talk page.
- I hope the above has been helpful. I'm also going to leave a welcome message for you below which contains other useful links to get new editors started. Cheers! --AbsolutDan (talk) 14:48, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:Pluralsight-logo.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Pluralsight-logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 15:25, 20 September 2014 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for November 25
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Educational technology, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Bloomberg. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 10:14, 25 November 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Pluralsight
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Pluralsight, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
