Sacha Parkinson

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please be aware of Wikipedia's policy that biographical information about living persons must not include unsupported or inaccurate statements. Whenever you add possibly controversial statements about a living person to an article or any other Wikipedia page, as you did to Sacha Parkinson, you must include proper sources. If you don't know how to cite a source, you may want to read Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners for guidelines. Also please note that YouTube is not necessarily a reliable source. Thank you. --Redrose64 (talk) 17:46, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sophie Webster

[edit]

Hey, I feel bad reverting your edits. You thought you were helping, but Sophie had a life in the serial before she met Sian. So all the storylines can not be a step by step guide to her life in the past year. You need to keep it breif, a week in Sohpie's life cannot have a paragraph unless so many notable things happened to her. Don't include dates the episodes air in the storylines, don't use phrases like "the following day" it takes up space. A couple of months of stories can be put into one paragraph. External links are for character profiles.. so nothing thats housed on Wiki goes there like a timeline. What's on TV, Holy Soap, ITV.com - these all have character profiles. If there's any help you need, you can ask. :)RAIN*the*ONE BAM 03:24, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Also your edits to Parkinson who plays Sian Powers, You have to keep it brief if it's just small non notable roles. Which they ALL are apart from Sian. Noting Awards other people won on the peice is not acceptable, it's not her work on the productions that won the awards. You're writing it asif she is a critically acclaimed actress, which she is not at this point in time and are violating the guidelines on writing about living people, which is just as bad as inserting vandalism.RAIN*the*ONE BAM 14:24, 24 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. One of the core policies of Wikipedia is that articles should always be written from a neutral point of view. A contribution you made to Sacha Parkinson appears to carry a non-neutral point of view, and your edit may have been changed or reverted to correct the problem. Sacha

[edit]

It's because your new then perhaps. This is Wikipedia, 15 thousand hits is nothing. Because 10 million people watch this serial, they could all be fans of the show. She needs to be really notable for what you wanted. You described her characters, the article is about Parkinson, misca info about characters is for the characters she plays. Me watching a video of her isn't going to make her encyclopedia worthy is it? Sian's a good enough character... We can't be biased just becuase we like her work. You do understand that right? It's not a fan site... It's not wikipedia's job to credit actresses. I edited it following the rules.. What more do you want to add to her article? Anything you think should be added back? you can be honest. :)RAIN*the*ONE BAM 22:26, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I know I live in the UK. I'm also gay and young so I know how much these storylines help people, they're amazing, but it's still wikipedia. :PRAIN*the*ONE BAM 23:56, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well it's true she's been in other things for small non notable roles if you look at the context. Her agents website and her profile are primary sources on the subject matter. For them to expanded there needs to be some coverage from secondary sources such as news agencies, TV entertainment websites and so on. Corrie is her most notable role to date looking at that. You can include a smal not on who she is signed with I guess.. It doesn't really matter how many episodes she has appeared in btw, but it doesn't matter it's mentioned. However including she has done a interview on twitcam isn't needed in the article, I can't think why you would like that to be included If I am honest. It's of no significant importance and had to impact on acting or the world in general. Her roles discussed, shouldn't be like that, they should be in a filmogrophy table.RAIN*the*ONE BAM 21:18, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Corrie, ITV, Wikipedia, IMDB

[edit]

And? Non of the pages link to any of the actors wikipedia pages. Why are you trying to make out they chose it over Wikipedia? TBH Sian's page isn't full of useful information, it's full of what we call non-encyclopedic in universe information, IE - a massive recount of storylines. Which is also not acceptable. Sian should have perhaps around two paragraphs for the her small duration. She can have as much out world info as she likes, because it does exist. As I've said, Sacha has little information, because there isn't much around detailing her past works. ITV.com/corrie has no bearings on what we should do on Wikipedia. Does it?RAIN*the*ONE BAM 00:57, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well if the living person has done significant charity work, a Philanthropy section could be of use. But I wouldn't say it's interested Parkinson so much. That article actually says she didnt run but went the after party!! So it's not needed. Maybe you should wait until Parkinson simply becomes more famous. There are many other articles on Wiki too.RAIN*the*ONE BAM 02:43, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Don't abbreviate Wikipedia as Wiki! There are other wikis out there. Wikipedia is just one of them.
If www.itv.com do link to other actors' Wikipedia pages, but in the case of Sacha Parkinson have preferred other websites over the Wikipedia page, this could be due to any or more of several factors. Perceived accuracy is likely to be high on the list, but others include (but are not limited to): reliability of sources; focus on the actor rather than the characters she's played; balance of content; quality of writing. Take a look at pages for high profile actors, both young and old (eg Bette Davis, Judy Garland, Angelina Jolie, Emma Watson) to see how they cover their subjects.
Regarding reliable sources: have a look through the Manchester Evening News and The Stage: I'd trust those newspapers over IMDb any time. --Redrose64 (talk) 13:17, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well I just picked 6 other profiles, non linked actors to wiki so jusy assumed. :pRAIN*the*ONE BAM 13:29, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sacha image

[edit]

You cannot upload a photo of a living person that is not in the public domain. You can search Flickr to see is they have any images eligible for commons. A screenshot cannot be used because it is not a free image. Screenshots are used in fictional character articles because it's believed they are not replaceable. However with Parkinson, there is always going to be a chance someone will take a picture of her. What's the image you purchased? Is it just a copy of a picture, that's well copyrighted? I say that because I think recently you can by licensing for a hefty price to use certain images.RAIN*the*ONE BAM 22:11, 5 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You will have to scrap them. Those screenshots are not acceptable. They are used in fictional characters because you can't get a replacement image that is free. It's a violation to upload a screenshot of a living person, because it can be replaced. So it abuses the fair use. Feel free to edit your sanbox, but don't make poorly sourced additions to the real article mind. :)RAIN*the*ONE BAM 04:46, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:NFCC, or the full policy document WP:NFC. The best thing to do would be to take a photo of her yourself, but make sure that she is aware that the image is for publication. One of the best places for this is an awards ceremony - you don't have to attend the actual ceremony: but outside the building, before and after the ceremony, the various actors expect their photos to be taken, and also expect that some will be published. --Redrose64 (talk) 15:21, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

User page

[edit]

Hello there, I see you're primarily using your user page as a notepad. Whilst this is fine, I've noticed some of your recent edits are starting to infringe on privacy policies for living persons, namely Sacha Parkinson. I'll direct you to WP:DOB to read up on the policies, in the meantime I suggest it'd best to remove the lower text which seems to be (correct me if I'm wrong) directions to find her home on google. Thanks Ooh, Fruity @ Ooh, Chatty 23:53, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't a negative bias to remove the bafta thing. If it's added back do not make it sound like Parkinson won the bafta. It's worrying you have found directions to her home and all her family names. Don't add them because it will be reverted.RAIN*the*ONE BAM 20:52, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for adding that Parkinson quit. I did notice this before I went last night but was too tired to change this. GSorbyPing! 08:33, 26 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Additionally, I will add the correct reference tonight. GSorbyPing! 08:34, 26 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sian Powers

[edit]

Hi there. I'm really sorry, but I've had to revert the latest edits to the Sian Powers article as they added back incorrect information (such as a 2012 departure date) and removed references, dates and links. I'm not too sure how this happend though. Did you revert back to a preferred version? Or edit and save an old version of the article? I apologise if I have removed any constructive edits you made to the article, they will be stored in the article's history though. I've added back the under construction tag, so everyone is aware you are in the middle of improving the article. - JuneGloom Talk 00:42, 2 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
