May 2023

[edit]

Information icon Please do not add original research or novel syntheses of published material to articles as you apparently did to The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Please cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. --ThomasO1989 (talk) 18:23, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, now listen, you were right about The Super Mario Bros. Movie, but now you're crossing a line, stop reverting ALL my edits, there's no justification for that, because I'll have to think you have some problem with me particularly, I'm spending time and energy here. There was no valid reason to revert my Pinocchio edit, Pinocchio is different in the Disney version than the Collodi's one, and there was no valid reason even for the Dumbo ones, that was an unnecessary and biased agenda-driven add written by some troll/jerk that wanted only to create avoidable problems and division, and there is nothing wrong in adding plot details to better understand story and characters, so I please you, I beg you, stop reverting all my edits. Thank you. Gregory Speck (talk) 21:15, 28 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Couple things:
  • Your initial edit to Pinocchio did not include a source, so I had every right to revert it. I'm not the first person who has had to revert you for failing to provide sources.
  • You can't just remove or downplay the Dumbo racism controversy just because you don't like it. It is bad faith for you to assume that this information is written by trolls that are "agenda-driven" rather than editors who are going by reliable sources.
  • Many of your additions to the Dumbo plot section are excessive, redundant, or unnecessary. The Plot section is not meant to be a play-by-play of what every event that happens on screen, description of every character's thoughts or motives. or what other characters think about them. It's a concise summary of the events of the film. The film is barely an hour long, and this section is already longer than those of 2- or 3-hour films. Let's go over just a few of the "plot details" you've added:
    • Dumbo jumps off the shockingly higher platform and prepares to fly. Use of WP:PEACOCK words.
    • ...leaving him furious and humiliated and with his clothes shrinking. This isn't necessary to understand the plot.
    • Meanwhile, the clowns decide to increase the popularity of their fireman act by dangerously raising the platform Dumbo jumps from, believing that is fine because elephants are "made of rubber" and have "no feelings" anyway. It's already established the clowns are antagonistic; we don't need to say why they did it, only that they did.
    • from a make-believe burning building prop. The original text was from a "burning building" prop. The reader can already understand that the prop is "make-believe" (a term we shouldn't even be using in an encyclopedic article) from the quotation marks.

There is an easy way to avoid linking to disambiguation pages (as you did to Margaret Wright from Dumbo): if you go to "Preferences", "Gadgets", and look under "Appearance" you'll see "Display links to disambiguation pages in orange" towards the bottom of the section. Select that tickbox, and whenever you Preview a page you'll be able to see whether you've accidentally linked to a disambiguation page. Thanks, and Happy Editing. Wikipedia's technical logs indicate that this user account has been or may be used abusively. It has been blocked indefinitely from editing to prevent abuse.

Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public, so you may alternatively use the Unblock Ticket Request System to submit an appeal if it contains information that must be private.

Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. Why have I been blocked?! Why all my edits have been reverted?! I am not a sock! Gregory Speck (talk) 10:20, 30 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Why have I been blocked?! Why all my edits have been reverted?! I am not a sock! What's the evidence?!

Decline reason:

You clearly know why you are blocked as you subsequently deny the reason you were blocked. See WP:GAB to understand how to craft an appropriate unblock request. Yamla (talk) 20:01, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
